Cold Case Solved

I enjoyed this story as a mystery, and I especially liked Jamie, the Oscar-winning actress who misses her small town roots. For fourteen years she has been haunted by the past. Now she's determined to recover her suppressed memories of her father's murder. In the process, she learns many things she needs to know in order to move forward in her life and, of course, helps Gage solve the case.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Very engaging, interesting and enjoyable. The story pulls you in from the first paragraph and never lets go. Definitely worth your time.

Romance, suspense, mystery and more all woven into a really good story.

This is the second book by Anne Patrick and narrated by Leonor A. Woodworth that I have listened to, and it was just as entertaining and enjoyable as the first book. They make a great team.

Leonor A. Woodworth did a great job with the narration. Pleasant voice easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken. Nice even pace. Good character voices. She was able to convey all the emotions of the characters. The characters and the story come to life through her narration.

LIFETIME MOVIE!

I enjoyed this book. It reminded me of a Lifetime movie... I love Lifetime movies. Perfect balance of romance and suspense. Strong characters and a great narrator.

Nerve wracking Narration

I would have enjoyed the novel so much more if I hadn't had to listen to the worst narration I have ever been subject to. For me, the performance of the Narrator is tantamount to the success of the story. Cassandra needs to buy a florist shop or take many more voice lessons

I have read all John Grisham's books, but this one just did not intrigue me one little bit.

This book has been the straw that broke the camels back for me. I have bought Grisham books for years and loved them. The past few have been so awful I am convinced either he has lost his mojo or someone else is writing them. I won't be buying any more.

The narrator does their best with a really dull,piece of work.

His earlier work is brilliant, buy it - buy it but I would steer clear of his last half dozen books.

Industrial espionage is a refreshing change of pace from spies chasing spies around the world

Joseph FinderÂhas been writing thrillers since 1983. Many of his books concern industrial espionage. Paranoia, which is set within the tech industry, displays considerable knowledge of technology and of the industry.

Compelling Story With a Disappointing Ending

Joseph Finder's book Paranoia kept my interest from beginning to end. The plot was original and had me hooked after the first chapter. I found the author's writing style descriptive and easy to read. Finder told the story in first person.

The strongest aspect of this story was the plot itself; however, the ending was disappointing and just did not fit the rest of the book and the main character's personality.

No I haven't but I would as they were particularly good choices for each of the three voices the book has as main protagonists.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was an emotional read, if you failed to be touched by this story then you must quite hard hearted.

This is beautifully written and the presentation is skillful. I loved how each protagonist is given a separate chapter and found it was a particularly clever device for the 'Life Book'. A character in its own right, it helps the reader to understand many of the intricacies of the work of Social Services, volunteers and foster parents, without getting bogged down with detail. It gave the reader a wonderful insight into the heartbreaking world of children who, through no fault of their own, are moved on time and time again, nothing permanent, no stability. Ms Beech, writes with empathetic understanding, without asking her reader to be judgemental and explores the motivations of her characters with the same intelligence. Many of Conor's relationships are painful and sad and we see how failings occur, in the less than perfect environment of child care. However, the relationship between Conor and his volunteer Bernadette, is touching and the reader sees a glimmer of hope, for both of them, in that friendship. We also see he is not without care or without friends, Sophie who is his 'best friend' and Ann, his current foster mother bring warmth into a difficult subject. Yet we do feel the child's sadness, fear and loneliness and how the intermittent contact with his birth mother and the missing part of his life, his father, whom he does not know, effect his development. Highly recommended .

Beautiful, heart warming book

Beautifully narrated. This book showed so much compassion, sadness and empathy with the human race. My daughter recommended this and I am so glad she did.

One of the best audiobooks I've listened to

As a lover of crime novels I found this quite perfect. An intelligent and engrossing story, beautifully read by Emma Gregory who has impeccable pronunciation of difficult names and places. Her voice is just right for a tale of savagery, soulfulness and, ultimately, family history and the fates thereof.

Let's hope Redondo writes more about Baztan after the trilogy.

Superb

I thought this was one of the best books I've listened to on this subject. Paul Thornley is always good as the narrator: this is the first time I've heard one of the books of this author. I couldn't put the book down and was only disappointed with one thing, it was too short!!

Great book, found it very difficult to get out the car until the end of a chapter.

Abruptly ended

Interesting and well written, but I felt we hit a wall at the end...I mean what happened to 'Early' it was just to abruptly ended almost like a word cpount was hit and it was then finished iin as few words as possible.

Tedious. Bad accents.

It's a long winded way of saying guy goes undercover, meets girls gets caught and then finally something happens. Nothing new to hear here. Move along!

Few thrillers have main character that is as developed, engaging and credible as Matt Scudder. He is a man of few, but definite principles that pursues the truth without compromise and with a distinguished humanity. The characters that surround him, the dialogues and the New York atmosphere make the story so captivating that is difficult to put the book down. As the Publishers weekly says : "Block s] prose is as smooth as aged whiskey...and the story flows across its pages.".

Hard to follow

The story is a bit difficult to follow and very far fetched once you figure out what is happening. Wait until it goes on sale if you really want to read it.

Off and disappointing

There are two stories in this unusual book. The stories intermingle at some point. Both are uninteresting and foolish. Not one of her best.

Absolutely the worst yet

So tired of getting rotten books that I doubt I'll renew Audible next year. This one will give you a headache to boot with the readers high pitched squeaky voice. I tried 4 times to get thru this! I'm not picky as try at least 2 books a week but this was exceptionally bad.
