If your a Reacher fan, you know how he thinks. You know why he does the things he does. I think you should just read the book and be entertained and enjoy the journey.
    disappointed
I didn't want to listen to someone telling about the book. I wanted to read it for myself. Disapointing.
I got a summary of the book which I did not intend
I'm very unhappy to get this book in the ridge form it a bridge form I'd like to return it
    Boring!
Boring! Good story line but the summary jumps around way too much. The analysis is nonsense.

Then one of their small community is found brutally murdered; beside him is the freshly killed trout. Both died by violence - but Chief Detective Inspector Roderick Alleyn's murder investigation seems to be much more interested in the fish....
Scales of Justice was first published in 1955.

    Delightful fish story
Another tightly woven tale with an array of characters whose relationships are initially impossible to comprehend. But of course Chief Inspector Alleyne understands everything almost instantly once he arrives on the scene and again Marsh compresses time such that Alleyne miraculously solves a crime almost overnight. This does not diminish the pleasure of solving it with him. Amazing that Marsh wrote these tales over so many decades and maintained her gift for it.
    Good story
This is one of my favourite Ngaio marsh stories, and I have a version read by the late James Saxon which is excellent, but on audio cassette. Glad to see this full length version although benedict cumberbatch is adequate in the abridged story the story suffers from the shortening. This is a fair version but Phillip franks voice is too light for Roderick Alleyn and this Mars the telling , although his version of inspector fox is good. I would really like to see the James Saxon version re-released., but this is worth a listen. Phillip franks does make a good fist of it as Margery allingham's hero Albert campion, just the right tone and degree of hesitation.

    Great series!
Another great book in the Maria Kallio series! And a great Audible performance. Highly recommend!
Leena Lehtolainen is a great storyteller
This is my third audio book by Finish author Leena Lehtolainen in the Maria Kallio series. I'm not listening to the books in order. The series books are police procedurals which are heavy on both relationships and suspense. Narrator Amy Rubinate performs superbly and is especially good with male voices. Highly recommended!

Great book with a surprising twist. I would recommend this series to friends. Thumbs up

It is four days before Christmas, and all is not quiet as the characters you grew to love in The Deadly Series books fight their inner demons and deception and pray for miracles in this action-packed thriller.
Shawn Isaac is a bright five-year-old who has experienced more than his share of domestic violence and abuse. His disappearance on the day he testifies against his father terrifies a county that has already lost three young women to a vicious serial killer. What secret drives him into hiding as a deadly winter snowstorm bears down upon the area, putting those who love him most at risk?
Anne Mason-Brandt escaped the wrath of a vicious serial killer five years before. But the fear she had then is nothing compared to the terror instilled by a life-threatening disease and a secret that could blow her and Michael's happy marriage apart. Is love enough?
Nine months pregnant, Jennifer Brennan-Stone has a secret that will change Blake's and her life forever. She's already lost one baby, and this pregnancy has her on bed rest. Can they find a small boy who doesn't want to be found before it's too late?
Frankie and Lane Hansen are having an up-close-and-personal impact on their finances thanks to a lousy economy. One of them has a secret that could make a bad situation even worse.
Tim Brennan and his wife, Megan, fell in love with their pink Victorian house the first year of their marriage more than 30 years before. As Megan plans to turn their lovely home into a bed-and-breakfast, Tim is unsure he can share his wife, home, and memories with strangers.

Brings Out the Gamut of Emotions
While this book is filed with action and suspense, it's also a tear jerker at times. I loved it and was really pulling for Blake and Jennifer.
    The plight of children
That little boy will steal your heart whilst breaking it too! Like I'm the previous three novels, I liked the couples who make up the central characters - that is, all except Anne Brandt! After all this time she still does not trust her husband?! Then maybe she doesn't deserve him.
On the whole, the continued development of the central characters and their 'what happens next' stories were enjoyable and made for smiles and tearful grabbing for tissues.
The narrator made the characters real

    Story needs more guts
This story is well told, well-written, and certainly entertaining. The characters are easily identifiable, have personalities that feel quite real, and interact well with one another. The story line about a hidden world is unpredictable and different from anything else I have read. So why only two stars? This is the fourth book in this series. I expected some progression from the discovery phase in Book 1 to something more in Book 4. However, the interaction with the hidden world is the same discovery with mild eroticism that we read in Book 1. The story is an emotional and psychological exploration for each character. [SPOILER ALERT] But despite overcoming their fears and despite some peripheral characters dying the main characters never have to make big decisions. Even their wounds turn out to be superficial. It's like walking through a haunted house: all the action takes place on the inside without physical risk.
Great read! Love the way Brian Harmon writes!
Great read! This author knows what it takes to write something that one can't get enough of. All his stories are real page-turners.... you just can't wait to read the next page, and the next, and the next. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series! I'm a Steven King, Dean Koontz and Anne Rice fan. Brian Harmon belongs to this group - what an imagination he has and such a great story-teller!
It's in the trees, it's coming!
The worst thing about writing reviews is coming up with an interesting title.. So, onto book 4. In this part of the story we leave Albert, Brandy and Nicole and jog along with just Wayne (at least at first) on his 'quest' to find.. well too much info is too much sometimes, right? Suffice it to say that we stick with Wayne while he goes 'off the reservation'. He really does go a LONG way off the reservation too - all the way to the road beneath the woods and beyond. We've seen this before of course (if you were paying attention in book 2?), even if it was a long way off and through glass. During our sojourn with Wayne we learn an awful lot about his life; much more, it seems, than we learned about Albert or Brandy's lives before. This part of the book came across as rather crowded to me - I realize it was a way of passing the time while he walked, but still. Perhaps a little LESS would have been more (if you get my meaning).

Clive Merrison is truly the voice of Holmes
What about Clive Merrison and Michael Williams s performance did you like?
Merrison is the perfect Sherlock Holmes, in my view. He is the voice of Holmes when I think of the character or when I read anything relating to the sleuth.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
You could do that, I guess, but I rather enjoy listening to the audio plays in a piecemeal fashion.
    Sherlock Holmes
Great narrative! Loved listening to this collection of stories, I'm definitely going to buy the others in the collection
Best Holmes there is, bar none.
I've long been a fan of Clive Merrison's Sherlock Holmes. Merrison performed every story in the canon of Sherlock Holmes for the BBC, and are in my opinion unsurpassed. Up until now I've had to wait for repeats to be aired on Radio 4, so finding them on audible was amazing. I urge any serious Sherlock Holmes fan not to overlook these plays for more recent readings or TV programmes. These are classic Sherlock at its best.
    Brilliant
A fantastic play of your favourite stories about the great detective. Having listened to the original works, I thoroughly enjoyed this.
    misspelling of authors name
The content of the book is fine if you like a bit of light fiction from time to time but i am only giving it it three stars as a result of a publishing error. I am not quite sure who is responsible for this error but the two last names of this author are run into one I.e. Conandoyle, hence this audio book is filed under C in my library catalogue and not under D with my other books by the same author. In my expanding library this mistake I a bit irksome.

Christopher G. Moore's prize-winning series of Bangkok thrillers featuring Vincent Calvino, a disbarred American lawyer turned PI, have been praised for their captivating plots, engaging characters, and insight into the steamy Thai capital.

The body of an American, an acquaintance of Calvino's, has been fished out of the lake in Lumpini Park. Around his neck are a string of wooden amulets, the kind upcountry Thais wear to protect themselves from evil spirits. Only rather than saving Hutton, these have killed him.
A freelance cameraman scraping by on the margins, Hutton had photographed something shortly before his death that he thought would make his career. Now the footage of the shocking execution on the Thai/Burmese border is running repeatedly on CNN, and the rights to Hutton's life story have been sold to a Hollywood producer. But who killed Hutton and why?
When Calvino investigates, he collides with a powerful filmmaker and an experienced old Asia hand who knows the terrain as well as our man in Bangkok. It's all Calvino can do to stay alive, and find out who killed his fellow American.

    a good story...
I liked this book. I liked others by VC Andrews more, but this book is still good. This is a story about a girl with such a high IQ, she is actually a genius. I love how the author pointed out how life isn't always good for smart people. I listened to this book straight thru today.
The author, VC Andrews did a good job on this book. I was so glad to see a happy ending. The narrator, Rebekkah Ross did a good job delivering this story to us. I liked all the voices she used and her words were smooth and easy to listen to.
    The author is awesome but
The story itself isn't up to par. The ghost writer is a bit too predictable now
    Boring start up
This book was a snoooozzzeee fest! I would have prob given up on it had I been reading it... But it was an audible and I forced my way thru it. About midway, it started getting better. By the end, I wish there had been more... You have to be a true V.C. Andrews fan to appreciate it. Just forge thru, after the first half, it will get better!

    Members Reviews:
    Poor Production
Multiple times there are mistakes where a section is repeated. Apparently no one quality checked the final product.
The story and performance itself is fine.
    Production problems
What did you love best about Colonel Sun?
You can't go wrong with Kingsley Amis and Simon Vance's reading was flawless. However, entire passages were repeated as if (mind you I say "as if") it were a record skipping a groove. Jarring. Takes one out of the story. At least four instances that I noticed. Amateurish flaw by the audio team
Both story and narration were great
Of all of the reviews of all the non-Ian Flemming books, this one was rated the highest.
    I concur.
This one closely resembled James bonds creators vision.
Very good but not Ian Fleming good.
Simon Vance rocks. I won't listen to an audio book by anyone else. The story was not as compelling as other James Bond books. I had problems following the plot at times. But I enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone has had listened to all of the others.
    In Ian Fleming's footsteps
Well, the title and my rating should tell you all you really need to know about this book. Kingsley Amis does such a good job channeling Fleming that it's often hard to tell the difference between this and the many other, previous Bond books. It picks up where The Man with the Golden Gun left off and does so immensely well. Like Fleming, it gets bogged down in its pace a few times but otherwise it's great. If you liked some of the great Fleming Bond novels like Dr. No or Live and Let Die, then chances are you'll like this one as well. Thankfully Simon Vance returns to continue his excellent narration of Bond, so if you've listened to any of the previous titles you'll be getting what you expect. As usual, he does a superb job. 'Nuff said.
