    Publisher's Summary:
Already a #1 international bestseller, this tautly written and gripping psychological thriller forces a police inspector to reluctantly return to her hometown in Basque Country - a place engulfed in mythology and superstition - to solve a series of eerie murders.
When the naked body of a teenage girl is found on a riverbank in Basque Country, Spain, homicide inspector Amaia Salazar must return to the hometown she always sought to escape. A dark secret from Amaia's past plagues her with nightmares, and as her investigation deepens, the old pagan beliefs of the community threaten to derail her astute detective work. The lines between mythology and reality begin to blur, and Amaia must discover whether the crimes are the work of a ritualistic killer or of a mythical creature known as the Basajaun, the Invisible Guardian.
Torn between the rational procedures of her job and the local superstitions of a region shaped by the Spanish Inquisition, Amaia fights against the demons of her past in order to track down a killer on the run.

    Lead character inconsistent
Would you try another book from Dolores Redondo and/or Coleen Marlo?
I actually did buy the second in this series...something about bones. The early pages confirm my views of this first novel.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Invisible Guardian?
I did not find a most memorable moment.
What does Coleen Marlo bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Her ability to give voice to emotions such as fear, contempt, guilt...are impressive. I will look for other books she has read/performed.
Do you think The Invisible Guardian needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes, a second book is called for because the character development in the first is rather awkward. I thought the main character's mother, who was described alternatively as maliciously and intentionally mean as a snake then mentally ill, was representative of somewhat clumsy character development--too extreme? Neither was believable, and an editor who could smooth out the edges would be good. Similarly, the main character is portrayed as someone with strong instincts and intuition but still someone with the self-awareness and insight of cement, traits that seem mutually inconsistent. I'm hoping the second book may address these problems. So far--about 25% of the book--however, the main character is still presented as having the self-awareness and insight of cement but amazing intuition.
    Any additional comments?
I'll keep listening to book two and hope for the best. So far, I find myself mostly disengaged from the fate of the main character. Subtle, introspective, but compelling character development for me is the key to a book I enjoy.
This Is A Ladies' Book... Okay I'm seeking cover..
Got it... My headline is contentious. BUT... look. There are distinctly books that are generally injected with testosterone while others are flavored with oestrogen and progesterone. Look, people like to listen to, watch, and read people like themselves. Okay, it's important to stretch beyond our comfort zones... But I listen to this sort of book for escape, not cultural discipline. There's an intriguing murder mystery here, but there's also at least twice as much relationship discussion which frankly bores a big swath of men to ... SOB!
This book is the literary equivalent of a ChickFlick.

LOVED IT ONCE AGAIN!!! I cant get enough of this series, and will be trying to wait patiently for book 4! Once again Lacey is sticking her nose in where she probably shouldn't and getting herself in deep trouble, this one she almost gets blown up a couple times! All the characters are super great in this series, and I absolutely can not get enough of Caitlin Kelly's narrations...she is 100% AWESOME!!!!!
    Thank You Once Again Caitlin!!!
    Hot water Spa
I must say that as this series progresses (each book is its own story) Lacey finds herself in more and more hot water which she somehow manages to get out of while at the same time she manages (with the help of a few friends) to solve a problem for her mafia grandfather/family.
Gina LaMana certainly knows how to spin a clever tale and she does it with wit and cunning and then along comes Caitlin Kelly - and as she speaks, she paints verbal pictures with her clever narration. Well done ladies. This has been a great partnership.
I'm really looking forward to the next audiobook in this series.
I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review.
    The spa from hell?
This series is free of graphic sex, and extreme violence. Well, except when you snort coffee out your nose from sudden contact with wiseassery. Lucy Lacey is at it again with her friends and relatives. Her relatives? Well, her grandfather is the Godfather in Minneapolis, her cousin is the ultimate geek. Friends? Girlfriend is an ex-cop with her own view of justice, and the bodyguard is simply delish. This time, she needs to find out who is running the prostitution ring in town so that they can be "encouraged" to leave town. The Salt in the title refers to a spa. No spoilers here. Just be prepared for a hilarious time!
Caitlin Kelly gives her usual super audio performance, and brings each of the *characters* to clearly defined life.

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
    The Skeleton Detective is back.
A cold case dating from the 1960s draws forensic anthropologist Gideon Oliver to the Channel Islands decades later to shine a light on the mysterious connection between two men who died there on the same night.
Swapped as young boys by their fathers during the Nazi occupation, wealthy Roddy Carlisle and middle-class George Skinner had some readjusting to do after the war ended - but their lives remained linked through work, trouble with the law, and finally, it would seem, through murder.
Nobody expects that Gideon's modern-day investigation will turn up fresh bodies. But old bones tell many tales, and the Skeleton Detective has to be at his sharpest to piece together the truth before the body count mounts still higher.
Declared "a series that never disappoints" by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Gideon Oliver mystery series is highly recommended for fans of Agatha Christie and Kathy Reichs.

    Pleasant but poor narrtion
Aaron Elkins books are always a nice read. This was was worth a listen. If a "cozy" can be written by a man, this one is -- engaging story, no sex, violence, or much bad language. However, the narrator is an amateur and the characters sound forced and unconvincing. If there are more of Elkin's books on Audible, I will pass unless the narrator changes.

    Meet retired cop, Sam Prichard.
"Mr. Prichard," the note said, "the people you see in the photos will be killed within the next 48 hours, unless you stop me. I have been following your exploits closely, and I think that you are the one I need to make sure I stop doing this. I've been trying for more than 15 years to kick this habit, but I can't. Normally, I don't strike so many times so close together, but in order to get you interested, I'm going to up the odds. I need you to do only two things: discover who each of my victims is, and then do all you can to stop me before I can kill each one. The first one will die exactly 24 hours after you receive this note. The second will die 12 hours after that...and the third 12 hours after that. If you cannot stop me before I can kill the third one, then no one can. Then there will be a fourth victim, but you get no clues for that one. Good luck."

Another fun listen from David Archer!
Yes, the novels in this series are a little preachy at times and a bit "goody two shoes", but they are well written and well narrated thrillers with twists and turns that keep the listener's interest. I like that family is so important to Sam Prichard. The original romantic music is a nice touch. I have previously reviewed the prior 4 books in this series.
I tend to listen to audiobooks at 1.5X or 2X recorded speeds. The narrator speaks with sufficient clarity that 2.5X playback speeds are very understandable. He also does female voices and children's voices very well.
    The kill list
Another good book by David Archer. I have found that in this series I have really enjoyed every book so far. It's usually hard to to find d all the books in a series just as good as the last. David Archer has to be one of the best.....I really enjoy the singing
Never disappointed with this series of stories
Another gripping story about Sam and Indie with plenty of nail biting events beautifully narrated for us. Sadly there are only three more stories to listen to
    My favorite so far!
Love this series and characters. I think this is my favorite in the series so far. Archer takes you on an exciting and enjoyable rise. Lots of good twists and turns as usual. Fast paced and full of action. Love that his books are not full of foul language and sex scenes. He proves you can write a good, entertaining book while keeping it clean.
    Decent, but simplictic.
Sometimes it felt like an abridgement. It's nice to have a pg-13 story once in awhile, but it also cost a bit of depth.

    Love the Series
What made the experience of listening to Lethal Letters the most enjoyable?
I have read all the books in this series so far. Since I get them from Audible it doesn't take long at all to go through them. I especially loved the ending in this one. I hope it doesn't mean that it's the end of the series. It could open up to so much more. I think the narrator speaks this series in such a way that she sounds like she comes from money and a sophisticated back ground. I like that Ellery Adams kept the same narrator. I find that Authors that change narrators through a series tend to lose something. Great read.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Olivia of course, She had turmoil in her life at the beginning but came to terms with everything and ended up having friends and much much more. Not wanting to give away anything for those who haven't got to read it yet
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    The ending
    Any additional comments?
Hope there's more to the series !!
    Good mystery
Exciting and suspenseful. Frustratingly sad because of the deaths, but balanced out well at the end.
    Excellent book!
I enjoyed this so very much! I love the characters and the story keeps getting better and better in the series!
    Enjoyed this book in series
As with the other books in this series I have enjoyed it thoroughly! I look forward to the last in this series.
    A Must Listen Mystery!
I can't say this enough, but this is an absolutely outstanding cozy mystery series. The characters are so well developed, and with each book you get to know them even more intimately. The plot lines aren't cookie cutter, they have deep roots that grow book by book. But it's the narration which really brings this story perfectly to life. Each character has a unique and distinguishable voice that fits their description & personality impeccably.
If you can, start this series from the beginning. It's much more satisfying to begin with book 1 and grow with the characters, but if you choose to jump in here at book 6 you will get filled in without any problems.
This story (like all the others) is not only interesting, but also very compelling. A time capsule has been unearthed and inside it holds a web of lies & secrets that leads to murder. Olivia has a heart of gold and you really feel for her as she dedicates herself to finding justice at all costs. She's a strong heroine that lends a breath of fresh air to the cozy mystery genre.

    Publisher's Summary:
Queen's Bureau of Investigation is now open for business - and in each department of this new enterprise Ellery finds ample opportunity to exercise the brilliant, ingenious, and at times startling talents of his crime-lab mind. For to the bureau come some of the most plaguey cases in Queen's career.
In "The Three Widows", two of Theodore Hood's wealthy widow daughters, as well as his own widow, are caught in a murder that Ellery reluctantly relegated to the Impossible Crime Department. In "The Myna Birds", old Mrs. Andrus' bequest of a million dollars to 38 observant and talkative birds sets off a chain of violent events leading straight to the Embezzlement Department - and the only bird detective on record! "A Question of Honor" is a matter of considerable international delicacy, involving indiscreet letters, a Shakespearean scholar from Scotland Yard, and a crime at once assigned to the Suicide Department.
Numerous other criminals, crimes, follies, and felonies find their way to the bailiwicks of the QBI as well. From the files of the Buried Treasure Department comes "Miser's Gold"; from the Narcotics Department, "The Black Ledger"; from the Kidnapping Department, "Child Missing!"; and many others. In each case, Ellery Queen demonstrates the powers that make him unique among detectives.

    Queen's Gems
These stories were first collected in the mid-50s but we're written in the decades previous. They represent Ellery Queen at the apex of his storytelling skills, exquisitely crafting crimes that adhere to the notion of "fair play," giving the reader an even chance at matching wits with the detective. A word of warning: if you're going to match wits with Ellery Queen, you had better bring your "A" game.
I enjoyed the stories because I can read them at bedtime ...
I enjoyed the stories because I can read them at bedtime and have the story completed or nearly completed before falling asleep. The plots for each short story are original and not contrives.

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Lacey, Clay and Meg are back - this time headed to...a wedding?
Assignment Numero Dos for Lacey comes straight from the Godfather himself. When one of the Luzzi Family's low-ranking associates turns up dead, Carlos believes it may be the doing of the rival Russian mob, and he orders Lacey to find the killer. But every detail about the assignment is a little too neat, a little too tidy, and a little too good to be true. Could this really be an open and shut case, complete with a confession from the murderer?
When Lacey's pumpkin-colored, body-building cousin Joey starts making trouble at his ex-fiancé's wedding - the case starts unraveling from the inside out.
Lacey's not sure what is worse: going face to face with a vicious murderer, ditching Auntie Nora's attempts to fill in the "plus one" on her invite, or finding herself locked in the same hotel as the hot, unavailable, but increasingly drool-worthy Anthony.
Though most family gatherings are challenging, Lacey is afraid that this glittery Family wedding might just kill her.

A fun and adventurous cozy mystery...
This book is humorous and fun for a murder mystery. Lacey once again gets a case from her Grandfather to solve another murder mystery. Grandfather needs to know who did the hit and if "The Family" needs to take action. I had fun listening to this cozy mystery. I love the adventures Lacey goes on and her sense of humor is hilarious!
The author, Gina LaManna does a superb job on her story here! I just love the little quirks and laughs here and there. I love Lacey's quick wit too. I listened to this audio book straight thru the first day I got it. The narrator, Caitlin Kelly does a great job delivering this tale to us. Not worth the credit
I did enjoy Ashley Weaver's first book but Death Wears a Mask is just a repeat of the first. Also I did get very tired of the discussion of Milo's philandering and will Amory stay or go.
Similar style to the Royal Spyness series
    Any additional comments?
It's similar to Rhys Bowen in style and setting. While these book series are unrelated, I felt like I was reading a spin off, told by Belinda after she had gotten married. I think Georgie's sleuthing ways rubbed off on her and this is how Belinda turns out. It's enjoyable and I looked for the third book as soon as I finished but I guess I need to wait a bit.
Different narrator than the first book in the series...
She starts out a bit shrill and with a little lisp but as she reads the shrill settles down and the lisp fades. Milo and Amory Ames are very much like Nick and Nora Charles and their mysteries are similar, nice and cosy!
    Fine, not fantastic
Initially I was disappointed in the narration - I enjoyed the first book, but the new narrator had a higher voice that grated on me a bit. She made Amory sound sillier/less self-assured somehow. In general the story was fine, but I didn't love it. I agree with some reviews I saw saying it was a bit tedious to go through all the stuff with Milo's infidelity again.
