    Format: Unabridged
Length: 11 hrs and 48 mins

    Publisher's Summary:
It's dangerous enough when an ordinary college girl turns confidential informant. Even more dangerous when she's smarter than the killer, kingpins, and cops who control her.
Honors student Sarie Holland is busted by the local police while doing a favor for her boyfriend. Unwilling to betray him but desperate to avoid destroying her future, Sarie has no choice but to become a CI - a confidential informant.
Philly narcotics cop Ben Wildey is hungry for a career-making bust. The detective thinks he's found the key in Sarie: her boyfriend scores from a midlevel dealer with alleged ties to the major drug gangs.
Sarie turns out to be the perfect CI: a quick study with a shockingly keen understanding of the criminal mind. But Wildey, desperate for results, pushes too hard and inadvertently sends the 19-year-old into a death trap, leaving Sarie hunted by crooked cops and killers alike with nothing to save her - except what she's learned during her harrowing weeks as an informant.
Which is bad news for the police and the underworld. Because when it comes to payback, CI #1373 turns out to be a very quick study....

    Terrific Storytelling
Great story! Not my usual genre so I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book! The story moves quickly keeping the reader at the edge of their seat. I think I will pass the book along to my teenage daughter sort of a cautionary tale? Really liked the feel of Philadelphia and the odd-historic elements. Highly recommend this book looking forward to reading more from this author.
    Absolutely loved it!
Didn't know what to expect going into the book. Had no idea what it was about. I was taken in by the story and waited eagerly as it unraveled. A definite must read/listen for anyone who enjoys crime novels.
    One too many narrators
Despite a complete implausible plot and annoying alternating narrators, the novel did hold my interest. But when the accent of a character changes from the Russian accent which we are told she has, to a black southern accent in alternating chapters, it is discencerting and annoying. Wasn't the production team listening while recording?
If you can suspend your need for realistic plots, it can be a fun, fast read. But go for this one in print.
    This Bird Doesn't Sing
I'm a big fan of Swierczynski, but the basic premise of this book isn't credible. Beyond that, it isn't suspenseful. To make things even worse, the male narrator of this audiobook can't do voices other than his basic narration. He has a Russian woman character and doesn't even attempt an accent. Check out the author's superior earlier novels such as "Severance Package" or "The Blonde." This was a big disappointment.

    Is vigilante justice justified?
Luce Kendall worked for social services before becoming a private detective. She believes based on her own observations over a long period beginning in childhood that pedophilia cannot be cured, so she decides to take justice into her own hands when the legal system fails.
All Good Deeds is an outstanding suspense thriller with lots of plot twists. Narration by Joy Nash is as good as this novel.
This could be Dexter Morgan's sister!
    Any additional comments?
Stacy Green's Lucy Kendall is so highly suspenseful with a totally twisted plot. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole book. If I didn't know better I would think she was Dexter Morgan's sister! She is an ex child protective service caseworker who has left her job not able to deal will the injustices of the legal system when dealing with crimes perpetrated on children. First she makes sure her suspect is a repeat offender. Once she's exhausted her sources and is sure rehab of an abuser has failed the person mysteriously dies of a heart attack.
This book has a few characters that make you scratch your head and wonder - good guy/bad guy and it's not until almost the end of the book that you find out just which side everyone is on. The relationships between the different characters become blurred at times but by the end of the book there is resolution.
Joy Nash did an excellent job narrating this book. She kind of reminds me a little of Kristen Potter (DD Warren series).
My only gripe is that out if a series of 5 books, this is the only ONE on Audible.
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.
Lucy's dark side has light in it
This is a GOOD book both to read and listen to. The story deals with something that is unfortunately real in this ugly world we live in. I listened to the audible version and could hardly stand when I had to pause for other things that needed my attention. The narrator did an excellent job. Too often I listen to a book that is good as a read but the narrator spoils it. Not so in All Good Deeds! My first Stacy Green book but definitely not my last!
    An interesting start
Lucy Kendall is an ex-CPS agent turned private detective. In Lucy's lifetime she has experienced just enough atrocities against children to put her over the edge, so when a child goes missing in her childhood neighborhood, she is on the case whether the police want her there or not. When past wounds are opened and circumstances spiral out of control, old truths are brought to light. This was a good start to a series, had good characters and a fast paced storyline.

    Publisher's Summary:
For dog trainer and search-and-rescue volunteer Raine Stockton, the last few months have been marked by murder, danger, and betrayal. A luxury vacation to the Caribbean resort island of St. Bart's sounds like the perfect antidote for stress, particularly since it includes three of her favorite traveling companions: her boyfriend, Miles; his daughter, Melanie; and Raine's happy-go-lucky golden retriever, Cisco. But even in paradise, trouble finds them. An American actress has suffered a fatal diving accident, and someone close to Miles appears to have been involved. As more and more people from Miles' past surface, he and Raine are drawn reluctantly into a murder investigation.
Raine, far more comfortable in her native North Carolina mountains than in this foreign culture, surrounded by the baffling behavior of the rich and famous, is at a distinct disadvantage. But she faces her worst fears when someone she loves goes missing, and she is forced to navigate unfamiliar terrain in an alien land to track down a killer. And this time even Cisco can't help her.

Quick, light and fun with a twist of murder
If you could sum up Double Dog Dare in three words, what would they be?
    Beach romp mystery
Who was your favorite character and why?
Cisco, the dog, of course. Why else read books with dog characters? As far as people, I liked Melanie, his young friend, with her playful curiosity and naïveté.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Without spoiling the ending, Cisco's high-five trick.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I enjoyed this book. It was fun and fast-paced. Don't get me wrong; it is a murder mystery and there is an element of danger, but Cisco's antics made me smile and gave comic relief to the tenser situations.
    Any additional comments?
Well-narrated. The Southern accents are authentic!
    Dog days at the beach!
Would you listen to Double Dog Dare again? Why?
Yes, as I think the second time around I would pick up on clues that I missed during the first listening.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Double Dog Dare?
At the end when the mystery is solved. While I didn't see it coming, it wasn't one of those out of the blue, no it really couldn't have happened that way kind of endings.
Have you listened to any of Donna Postels other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first book by Ms. Postel. I loved the way that she was able to portray a wide range of characters and make each of them believable. From the joy of a 10 year old child to the concern of that 10 year old's grandmother, all the characters were real.
    Any additional comments?
Double Dog Dare is book 8 in the Raine Stockton Dog Mystery series. Raine joins her boyfriend Miles, his daughter Melanie and Cisco, her beloved golden retriever on a vacation on St. Bart's. While there an American actress dies and one of Miles' friends is suspected of murder. Did he do it? Listen and find out!
This was the first book that I had listened to in the series and I wasn't lost for a single moment. Ms. Ball gave enough of Raine's background that jumping in here was ok.

NOT the 1st Book in Series!
First I want to clarify that this is not the first book in the series. It's book 2. I hope audible fixes this because I missed a lot of info thinking it was book 1. So, that's just a warning.
Secondly, the main character has a rather serious boyfriend but still intensely pursues the cop (McBride), and that plot rubbed me the wrong way. She made McBride breakfast, took him dinner & put herself in desperate situations, all the while she hardly had time for her actual boyfriend. Considering she's a 40 year old woman it sets a bad tone that is the main theme throughout. So, that really hurt the story. It's truly annoying enough to not want to ever listen to it again, so I don't recommend this book.
There are no bones in brisket, y'all.
Other than a few research goofs (or rather, non-researched) that I found distracting, this was a nice easy listen. Some of the female friends were hard to keep track of (with small town Georgia double-names)
The narrator did a fine job and I didn't guess the ending.
    Disappointed
Cliche book. Almost nothing to do with "spices". Mostly predictable characters who are gossips. Southern accent was annoying. Little emphasis on any "mystery." Boring.
    loved it
not predictable and she included recipes this time. would recommend if you like cozy mysteries.
    Good series.
If you could sum up Kill 'Em with Cayenne in three words, what would they be?
    Spiced up mystery.
What did you like best about this story?
Great continuation of the series. Looking forward to next one.
What about Tara Ochss performance did you like?
Like how all the characters are handled.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Death by brisket.

Fairy tale fever has descended on New York City. Broadway fans are flocking to Red Riding Hood: The Musical; museums are exhibiting art inspired by the Brothers Grimm; and Clare Cosi gives her coffee truck a "Jack and the Beanstalk" makeover for a Central Park festival.
Clare's coffee hunter ex-husband contributes a bag of African beans with alleged magical properties, and his octogenarian mother entertains customers with readings of the grinds. But Clare remains skeptical - until she receives a vision that helps her find the body of a young model in the park's woods.
The police dismiss the "sleeping beauty" as the victim of a drug overdose. Then Clare uncovers evidence that points to a roster of suspects, from a wolf of Wall Street to a New York Giant and a wicked witch of the WestSide.
Now Clare is really in the woods - with a dangerous predator on her heels and an investigation that leads from a secret Prince Charming club right back to her own NYPD detective boyfriend. If she doesn't solve this mystery, those magic beans predict an unhappy ending.

Lei transfers to the island of Kaua'i, where she uncovers a pattern of disappearances that may be related to a bizarre cult - or is it just one madman at work? Members Reviews:
    My Favorite Neal Audiobook
The story is (of course) fantastic as are all of Toby's, but it's the narrator's performance that really did it for me on this one.
Sara's ability to create a voice and personality for each character was really astounding; I was completely taken away. Through her command of the nuances of the Hawaiian/pidgin dialect, I was able to envision each character in my mind.
The story of suspicious disappearances and a cult really pulled me in. There were so many layers of the mystery that I couldn't turn off my iPhone as I waited to hear what would happen next. Even though I had read this book previously, the audiobook gave me a new experience into this compelling story.
    Another great Toby Neal story!
Island born author Neal paints a beautiful narrative read by outstanding Sara Malia Hatfield.
    Thrilling
Sara was wonderfull. loved listening to this story. Sara's voice was consistent her words flowed off the pages. I am enjoying following Lei's story. a wonderfully written story.
    Not To Be Missed!
    My Review
I didn't read the first in the series, "Blood Orchids" but there is enough back story in "Torch Ginger" to ensure the reader doesn't feel bewildered by how and why Lei finds herself now working on Kaua'i.
Lei is the new girl, low in the pecking order and as such, gets all the boring jobs. She is working hard to fit in but after only two months on an island described as "a jungle paradise of secretive people and strange spiritual forces" Lei is finding life to be "slow and boring".
It's while plodding her way through one of her dull cases that Lei is asked to talk to Kelly Waterson, Kelly reports her boyfriend Jay as missing. It has only been 24 hours since she last spoke to him by 'phone, but the circumstances catch Leis attention. When a worried Kelly flew in and visited Pine Trees, the unofficial camp site, she discovered Jays belongings dumped in the rubbish bin. His wallet still held his credit cards and also some strange origami shapes, three stones were left on his shoe.
Now the story really begins! During the course of her investigation she meets many strange and intriguing characters and she becomes convinced that the disappearances aren't merely people who have simply taken themselves off the grid. Getting others to take her convictions seriously is a hard task.
There are so many threads to this story, yet they are woven skilfully to produce a story that is difficult to put down.

In the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit, not many murder victims die almost a decade after the crime. So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but any other evidence is virtually nonexistent.
Now Bosch and his new partner, rookie Detective Lucia Soto, are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case. Starting with the bullet that's been lodged for years in the victim's spine, they must pull new leads from years-old information, which soon reveals that this shooting may have been anything but random.

    Go Harry
Loved it. Looking forward to the next adventure. Harry is such an interesting character who develops through the series.
A good reading, but Bosch stories are aging...
I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, one can find the strengths of Connellys books (and of the Harry Bosh saga): a linear story, a very solid and credible plot, characters well depicted and a catchy Los Angeles providing as usual a great background to the action. However, somehow the book is not engaging as most of the Bosh stories used to be. May be is Bosh that has aged: from the passionate, intense, almost dark hero that used to be, Harry is now a grumpy, a bit cynical cop flirting with (and fighting) retirement. Glimpses into his private life that should provide pauses and contrast to the thriller plot- are frankly boring: he is a worrying father to a teenage girl without really other interest or relationship. This is emblematic of the lost charisma of Bosh and a key to understand why this book is less engaging than the first ones of the series. I must however say that, in relative terms, is by far not the worse book that Connelly has recently written. In fact, in absolute terms, the book is overall a good experience and had no problems in keeping up through the (good) end.
    Boring voice!
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Connelly seems to have forgotten some of his previous plot points. A couple of old story lines were mentioned however not as they happened in the books. He stated that Bosch had a partner who went rogue and he had to go find him, but that was in reference to the Drug squad character who faked his own death - never Harry's partner. There were a couple of others I caught but can't remember them now. At the time though, it was disappointing to realise Connelly stuffed up on the recall of his own books.
What three words best describe Titus Wellivers performance?
    Boring, mumbling, boring
    Any additional comments?
I love all the Harry Bosch books and have them all as well as the Mickey Haller audios. Some of the readers voices have annoyed me over time but this one was by far the worst. Welliver sounded bored by the story and the character, often not bothering to change his voice at all so the characters were barely distingusihable from each other.

And she is especially taken aback by the dead body of a pretty young thing she discovers stashed in the church's belfry.

    Fatuous In The Extreme
I don't know which was worse--the ultra fast talking, never take a breath narration or the breezy, idiotic, brandname & fancy place name dropping writing. I can't call it storytelling--more like bragging about a perfect NYC / New England life "telling". This trust-fund proud, assuming, and shallow main character made for an unbelievable wife and daughter of two pastors. I listened to the first chapter gape mouthed.
Thank goodness for the Audible terrible book return policy. I can't get this birdbrained drivel out of my library fast enough. A total waste of time. What I really wonder about is who edits and publishes these things? Mind boggling.
    Great debut
Great characters, interesting plot, lacking in a plethora of expletives, graphic gore or sex. Loved it! Will be tuning in to this series.
    enjoyable gentle mystery
I like this kind of thing; glad to find the series. A couple of minor annoyances in the story (unrealistic baby) and narration (male voices) would push me out of the zone rather than keeping me drawn in. But overall I like the heroine (young mother) and the tone (light with some intrigue) and the setting (charming small town).
    Great Read
This was a delightful reaad. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and plot. I will look forward to the next book in the series.
Good Cozy With a Sense of Humor
I enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting and likable. The small town setting is pleasant. The mystery element is good. There are touches of humor that caused me chuckle out loud as I listened.
The only thing that didn't appeal to me was a protagonist who decided she had to solve the murder herself. In the process she ended up in mortal danger. Based on the tone of the book I expected she would be rescued, and she was. This is a common thing is many mysteries and it annoys me.
This is a good choice for an "easy listen" cozy.

    Won't read this author again
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The story line needs some suspense. Knew who the guilty party was from the get go and not even any suspense as he picks them off one at a time.
Has Cold Judgment turned you off from other books in this genre?
    No
Could you see Cold Judgment being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
    no
    Any additional comments?
Good narration, just poor book. If it hadn't been based in the Twin Cities I'd probably have stopped before I was done. But I hate to waste a purchase.

Soon there are more, purposely placed where he is sure to discover them. Unexpectedly drawn away from London to a small Northamptonshire village, he investigates the strange case of a local constable shot with a bow and arrow in an allegedly spirit-infested wood. Here among the taciturn townsfolk, embroiled in a three-year-old mystery of a vanished young girl, Rutledge hopes to keep his own ghosts at bay. But his stalker has followed him. And now the emotionally shattered policeman walking the razors edge of sanity must somehow keep his balance long enough to discover who is tracking him...and why.

    addicted to inspector rutledge
love the whole series. his character is so well written. the effects of war and the aftermath it leaves on the soldiers soul. i enjoy how you really get that sense that times are changing. .women their roles but yet the old times are not easily given up.
As usual with Charles Todd, I really enjoyed it!
The plot was not quite believable IMO but that didn't keep me from enjoying the book. Inspector Rutledge darts all over the place in his motor car, finding mysterious cartridges left for him. It's an intriguing plot, which kept me listening one whole weekend as I did my weekend chores etc. I am very fond of Rutledge and Hammish and how they interact with each other.
    great story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend all of Charles Todd's Inspector Rutledge books to everyone.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, it flows nicely and leaves subtle clues. It is difficult to decide who the murderer is before the end and that is how I believe a mystery should be.
What does Samuel Gillies bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I do not see Samuel Gillies as Inspector Rutledge. His voice is good for the other parts, but not Rutledge. I prefer a different reader.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Not to be missed
Excellent book--but read this series in order!
I noticed that only one person has rated this book before now, and appears not to have liked it at all. If that listener was unfamiliar with the whole series, it would be easy to understand how difficult it might have been to make sense out of this story. I love this series, and I loved this book. But it is perhaps one that most depends upon knowing and understanding the character of Ian Rutledge up till this point, to allow the book to be interesting and meaningful.
Ian Rutledge is a veteran returned from WWI, injured in body, mind and soul. He feels cautious of other people, has been rejected by the woman he had been engaged to before the war, and has come back to work at Scotland Yard, where he seems to be something of a loner, a man who works best by following his own intuititions.
