    THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER
GS has delivered yet another well-written, complex, fast-paced, enjoyable, fantastical futuristic story where the World now consists of Humans and Otherworlders reluctantly co-existing and it's up to the Alien Invention & Removal (A.I.R.) team to keep all the aliens from causing murder and chaos. All you can do with these books is climb aboard, buckle up, hold on and wait for all the mind-blowing G force action to begin.
Bride is a beautiful kick-ass Vampire who's been living amongst mankind believing she's the only Vampire in existence and the only way she can learn anything about her species is from books and films - but how wrong she was. She grew up on the Streets with only one Shape shifter friend who was lost from her for years when suddenly she smells her and frantically gives chase only for it to end in the strong arms of Devyn.
Multi-layered King of the Targons, Devyn's rich, drool-worthy, arrogant, sexy and believes he's God's gift to women and never needs to bed the same woman twice, he likes to bed different species and they all just fall panting at his feet, that is until Bride comes along. He flirts and teases however Bride just wants to know where he got her friend's scent from but he refuses to tell her and this starts a chain of events that will alter everything in their lives. They each battle the attraction and bond that's forming but reluctantly and eventually they give in to it but there's someone waiting with a different destiny in mind for Bride.
As expected, there's instant sexual attraction, romance, passion, sex, action, witty banter, great dialogue, danger, twists, suspense, interesting secondary plot and characters. Thankfully, Devyn's heartbreaking childhood and character development together with his loyal, funny, loving personality will make him a very loveable Hero in the end.
Worth a credit? This a great love story wrapped up in a very entertaining and exciting story with sub plots and the HEA is the bow on top - so YES it's creditworthy but as it was under $10 my 'just buy it and save the credit for a more expensive book' applied.

Derik's Bane is so-so. Skip the short story!
What disappointed you about Derik's Bane?
Why in heaven's name would you sneak in the that short story "Monster Love"? I was "OK" with this novel ... not good but it was OK. Then the ugly short-story started. RAPE is not romance.
What was most disappointing about MaryJanice Davidsons story?
    RAPE IS NOT ROMANCE.
What does Nancy Wu bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She is a very good narrator.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
If you jump past the piece of violent crud at the end, Derek's Bane was ok.
    Any additional comments?
MaryJanice Davidson: Rape is Rape. It is not romance and it is not fun or funny. I always thought the Luke and Laura "romance" was sick and I would have thought that we had progressed past this level of sick thinking.
Please do not throw this garbage into any more of your books or you will lose readership.
A Good Choice for Fans of Davidson's Undead Series
Derik's Bane is the third book in MaryJanice Davidson's Wyndham Werewolf series, which follows different pack members through their romantic endeavors. This story takes place in the same contemporary fantasy setting featured in Davidson's Undead series. However, instead of vampires, this book features a werewolf from the Wyndham pack and the modern reincarnation of Morgan Le Fay. If you enjoy the comedy in Davidson's other novels, you'll enjoy this book too. If you have not read/listened to Davidson's novels before, expect a paranormal romance with a heavy dose of comedy.
Speaking of comedy, Nancy Wu nails the delivery. The Wu/Davidson team rivals Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi, in my opinion.
    Laugh out loud funny
This book was so funny the banter between Derrick and Sarah kept me chuckling out loud. The narrator did a good job in telling the story. This is the first time I have listened to Nancy Wu and will be looking for her in the future.
    Done with MaryJanice Davidson's Foolishness
What disappointed you about Derik's Bane?
I wish I could give a zero rating for both of these stories. It was the same ol' ridiculousness that turned me off of her Undead Series. In Derik's Bane the fate of the world is (as usual) in the hands of some beautiful, dense, powerful, but unknowing woman and she needs to be rescued from herself. And it wouldn't be complete without some kind of chaotic nonsense taking place in the meantime. Strong emphasis on nonsense. That writing formula is old and played out. And the novella at the end, Monster Love, was worse! It is basically about a woman/werewolf/whatever who was physically attacked, kidnapped, raped and held hostage by a deranged and obsessive man/vampire/whatever. And then in true Stockholm Syndrome fashion she "fell in love" with him, leaving her family, friends and all she knew behind for him. I couldn't believe it! I'll be returning this book and won't waste another penny or second of my time on any more of her stories. Maybe she's trying to lose readers.

    Publisher's Summary:
Sarah Douglas is a successful thirty-eight-year-old romance novelist with big problems. She's come to Scotland on a three-month working vacation hoping to recapture her muse - who's deserted her - and resolve the issue of her strange 'feelings' - the ones which allow her to sense the emotions of everyone she touches. From the moment she arrives, however, her problems only intensify. She's being stalked, but by whom? Is he real or only a figment of her imagination? What about the darkly handsome owner of the cottage she's leasing? How is she ever going to deal with her growing attraction to a man ten years her junior? She knows from bitter experience men - particularly men who look like Ian - aren't interested in women like her.
Ian McCullough is neck-deep in troubles of his own. As a half-mortal descendent of Faeries, he's a Guardian, sworn to protect both the mortals of this world and the Portals leading to the Faerie Realm. After six hundred years, he's confident he knows what to expect in just about every situation and exactly how to handle it. But he never counted on a woman like Sarah showing up in his life; a woman who intrigues and charms him. A woman who turns out to be of Faerie descent herself, although she has no idea of her heritage and no belief in any Otherworld beings. When he's assigned to protect her, Ian finds the job is tougher than he could possibly have imagined. Oh, he can handle the stalker and the ex-husband and even the renegade Faeries trying to kidnap her for their own purpose. It's falling in love and forsaking his status as Guardian, a position he swore to honor at his father's deathbed, that he's having trouble with. Both Sarah and Ian struggle to battle the demons of self-doubt and their individual pasts. In the process they learn that healing will take the strongest magic of all, the true love that occurs only between two souls fated to be together.

Romance in the Fae Realm ;-)
This second book of the "Daughters of the Glen" is a great addition to the series. Without giving too much of the book away.......the story follows Sarah Douglas, a romance writer, through an adventure of self revelation. She discovers she is part Fae with "sensing" powers. Ian McCullah, who is half Fae, is a "Guardian" and begins to protect Sarah from the "bad guys". Their love blooms into a sensual journey that is exciting, sweet, sensual, and romantic.
This is a fun sexy Scottish adventure full of twists and turns. It is a nicely written tale with delightful minor characters that are captivating, endearing, and (some) threatening. The narrator did a wonderful job with each voice.
I recommend this book....especially if you've read the first book (Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband).
    fantastic second installation! very yummy....
I was delighted to see the second book in the daughters of the glen series. I have to admit tho' that I had some lingering doubts as to how well a second book could be run off the first one without ruining one to create the other... Well I couldn't have been more wrong. The individual threads were woven into a wonderful story that absolutely shines.
References to the first book were minimal but easy to identify..

    SINfully GOOD!!
I am a HUGE fan of both Laura Wright AND Tavia Gilbert, so it comes as no surprise that this book was frickin' awesome. The creative thought, the cultures she has built, the mythology that has been developed and the sheer scope of the Mark of the Vampire series just blows my mind. I mean, really! I can almost wrap my head around thinking of the stories but the detail of these cultures is borne of a mind that obviously cannot sit still. Synjon Wise is a terrific character that we'd met in earlier books and it was so obvious this guy needed his own book...and BOY did he get it. Petra's story is likewise one of growth, passion and love. Woven throughout all of these books are the substantially developed characters, the challenge of being redeemed and the power of commitment. Usually not fond of shape-shifters, I found myself really drawn the the Rainforest culture and, damn if I didn't want to be one.
The dilemma that Petra and Synjon find themselves in was set up in the previous book and brought to a climax (pun intended) in this one. Synjon loves Petra, Synjon hates Cruen (for good reason) and wants to kill him. Petra loves Synjon and carries his child, Petra also loves (or thinks she does) her father, Cruen. Therein lies the awful trials for these two.
I won't go into further detail about the story as it is intricate and deserves more than I could possibly give. Suffice it to say, it's wonderful.
Of ALL the wonderfully worded (and spoken) scenes, the one that absolutely stole my heart was "the little piano". You'll have to listen to this book to get that one...it was priceless.
The audio of a book is so driven by the narrator...they can make or break it. Tavia Gilbert never disappoints and when I see she is a narrator, I know I'll be pleased and not rolling my eyes at a pathetic accent or lack of passion/intonation. She gets it and gets it right. It appears that the authors rarely have input into who reads their stories, so thanks audible for having Ms. Gilbert read this whole series. It's not often a woman can 'do' both male and female voices with any sense of credibility but Ms. Gilbert most assuredly does.
If you want a great listen, one that adds yet another dimension to a multi-dimensional series, don't miss this one. It helps to listen/read these in order. I prefer to read first and then listen...the depth just gets deeper. Thanks Ms. Wright and Thank Ms. Gilbert. YAY Y'ALL!
    fun, exciting, hot
    loved it, couldn't stop listening...

    Not the quality I expected.
I loved the Miss Fortune series. This isn't in the same class. The narration wss lacking any Louisiana accent for the most of the characters and narration which detracted from the story. Thie author seemed more focused on the physical attributes of the main characters than the plot.
    A fun and entertaining listen
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    Yes.
What did you like best about this story?
This book, the first of the Mystere Parish Series, has a nice feel of the bayou, a bit of the paranormal, a bit of mild fright, but nothing that makes your stomach clench with the whim whams. What I thoroughly enjoyed about it, and enjoy in all of the author's novels, was the nice character development...
What does Ginger Cornish bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Ginger Cornish brings the voices to life, whether female or male, young or old, and uses her expertise to lend the proper "raised in the bayou" intonation.
    Good story, poor narration
Decent story. Narration was bad, voice was too bland. Reading the book may be better.
I normally love this author but this book fell flat
The miss fortune series and my dad series are absolutely outstanding! But this book fell very flat for me the characters and storylines just never captured my interest

And is so, how could they possibly do it successfully?
Love will grow. New mysteries will arise. A battle will ensue. A Blood Jewel will be found.
    Editorial Reviews:
The Vampire Agape series of young adult books by Georgia Cates is for fans of the Twilight series who...well, who want more Twilight. Curry Brennan, a self-loathing vampire, falls into requited love with Chansey Leclaire, a mortal, and all the usual thirsts and problems apply. The choice of Curry as narrator is, perhaps, distinguishing.
Performed by Tad Branson in a near-monotone that must be meant to invoke the vampires detachment from human life, Blood Jewel, the second book in a proposed trilogy, follows the lovers to a compound in Savannah, Georgia, where they are on the run from the evil vampire-maker, Marsala. Trouble finds them, of course, and draws them into a vampire cult. Will the cult be strong enough to prevent a Book Three?
    Members Reviews:
Don't judge this book until the very end! It might surprise you.
I read the first book in this series because I was bored and wanted to read something. This was a book my wife had for a long time but never read. My first impression was that it was slow, didn't have much action for a vampire book and I was pretty disappointed. I can't explain why but I ended up really liking the book and looked forward to the 2nd one. I think it was just refreshing because it is not like any vampire book I have read. I'm about to start book 3. I'm giving the whole series a 5 star rating and that is very unusual for me.
    Editing needs work!
I gave book 1 in this series 4 stars as it was a different take on the vampire world, and the characters and storyline were quick and easy to enjoy.
Blood Jewel, Book 2 in the series, was a little bit of a let down. The storyline moves foward and you begin to learn more about the unique vampire world this author has created, there were many moments where both the dialogue and the plot stalled.
While I still enjoyed the storyline and am still curious to see where book 3 takes these characters, the editing needs some major work. It needed work in Book 1 and I assumed it would be better in book 2. My assumption was wrong. If it is at all possible, I found the editing to be worse.

    Was up all night!
Drank a lot of caffeine today because I was up all night listening ( not smart when going a school field to the zoo the next day ) But I managed. This book was exciting and intriguing, I was never bored. I think Outlander fan's would love this series cause I sure do and can't wait for the next one. Credit Worthy all the way.
NO HERO, ONLY AN ARROGANT BASTARD!!
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The main male character Sir Gaston de Varennes treats Celine is humiliating & degrading. I understand he doesn't trust her, but for everybody to keep saying he is a honorable man doesn't show in the way he treats her.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Make the character Gaston more likable & for Celine to act like the modern woman she is & not like a woman from the 1300 (Stand Up For Yourself @ Least Once Without Backing Down)!!
What does Julia Motyka bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She brings the characters to life that's why I listen to audiobooks.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Since a book simular to this (Outlander) is bring made into a TV series & I plan on checking that out, eventhough I cared little for the book, I probably would.
    Any additional comments?
The book is good. The storeline is really good. I just wish the main character was more likable because if I was Celine I wouldn't have given him the time of day no matter how HOT he is & personality/character shows a person's true worth & value.
I want to travel back in time..
Would you consider the audio edition of Forever His to be better than the print version?
The storyline would be good in print or audible version.

Very good fantasy, which overcomes bad narration
Would you listen to Stasis again? Why?
Absolutely! Kim Fielding's fantasy story of a young boy, Ennek, who is the second son of the Chief or Praesidium. While taking a tour of a special prison, he is intrigued by one of the inmates, all of whom are in a state of suspended animation, or stasis. He touches the man, and despite his condition, the man feels the touch and dreams of the boy. Many years later, when the boy is in his late twenties, he once again comes into contact with the man, Miner, and agrees to work for a Wizard in return for bringing Miner out of stasis. He keeps Miner in his rooms for a year. During this time, he is developing his own Wizard powers and learns that his powers are great, but he does not know how to use them properly. An incident occurs that forces Ennek and Miner to flee Praesidium, leading them into more trouble at the same time that they realize they are in love with each other.
What did you like best about this story?
I love M/M books where authors take a story that would normally be told with a Male and Female protagonist who fall in love. Action, adventure, thrillers, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, it's always that way. So finding a great story like this where the protaganists are two men is wonderful. It's too bad these kind of stories were not available when I was young. All we had were a handful of brave authors, but the stories were always filled with hopelessness and loneliness of gay men.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator. Wow! He read like he was speed reading through most of the book, then finally slowed down a bit for about the last 25% or so. Most of the voices all sounded the same - gruff older men with gravelly voices and always the same voice. Ennek and Miner were done a little bit better, but not much. He ran sentences and paragraphs together, including where there would be a break within a chapter. I would realize that something was changed, and if I played it back, realized there had been a break and we were onto a new section. Many times things didn't make sense because of this and I had to play them back to figure out what was going on!
    Any additional comments?
This is Book 1 of a trilogy. Knowing that Book 2 has a different narrator (whom I love) definitely makes me want to continue on with the series. Don't get me wrong, Kim Fielding's wonderful writing and storytelling, as well as the great characters are reason enough to continue on!
    Not moved
I loved "Brute" and maybe that made me expect too much of this book. Its not a bad story, really. But it doesnt feel like a lovestory and I dont think that you get to know the MCs very well.

    Derivitive
Honestly, it all comes down to this being very poorly written: cardboard characters, unrealistic plot, unbelievable dialogue, and a liberal 'lifting' of similar plots from other (much better) books. At the start of the 5th chapter, when the info dumping was still going on and the story hadn't even started yet, I knew I was in trouble. The book was hitting every branch on the cliche tree and still free falling fast. Clearly, the inspiration was the Black Dagger Brotherhood series of books but without the charm.
Story: Aristocratic alien smoky entities from another planet (whose eyes glitter/glow at night) have taken alpha male forms on earth in order to hunt down escaped criminals from their planet. Six of them live together in an abandoned missile silo when one falls for an awkward woman with a hidden past that might just connect her to the alien men.
After slogging through the egregious info dumps setting up the story, it became obvious that the book had serious writing problems. E.g., believability issues (our main male character bafflingly takes pains to namedrop, noting that he has on his Bose headphones, is using his Viking range, and is in a Burberry shorts) and characterization issues (he's described as never breaking the law and very upstanding yet swears like a sailor and is a jerk to everyone).
Cue Mary Sue female character, awkward and unsure of herself, and about to be swept off her feet by our super clean, macho, swearing, alien. She'll need to be saved often, of course, but she'll win the hearts of all the guys in the end, now won't she? I didn't like her character and I didn't like the so-over-the-top alpha male, either. Again, they both felt like romance novel cliches - pandering to a lowest common denominator and very poorly constructed. Because foul mouthed single alien bachelors are always neat, brand whores, and macho but with a heart of gold, right?
There are much better romances out there - alpha or otherwise.
