Publisher's Summary:
Scrum is a framework for developing and sustaining complex products. It is a framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value. Scrum is lightweight, simple to understand, and not difficult to master.
Scrum is not a process or a technique for building products; rather, it is a framework within which you can employ various processes and techniques. Scrums makes clear the relative efficacy of your product management and development practices so that you can improve.
The Scrum framework consists of Scrum teams and their associated roles, events, artifacts, and rules. Each component within the framework serves a specific purpose and is essential to Scrum's success and usage. The rules of Scrum bind together the events, roles, and artifacts, governing the relationships and interaction between them.
The heart of Scrum is a Sprint, a time-box of one month or less during which "done", useable, and potentially releasable product is created. Sprints best have consistent duration throughout a development effort. A new Sprint starts immediately after the conclusion of the previous Sprint. Sprints contain and consist of the Sprint planning, daily Scrums, work development, the Sprint review, and Sprint retrospective.
The rules of Scrum are described throughout the body of this book with the specific tactics for using the Scrum framework:
Members Reviews:
A lot of ground to cover.
This audio book is extremely dense for the amount of time it takes, and I had to take breaks. There's a lot of jargon and specific information. I feel like it is important to take breaks to review PDF document and let the information sink in. Not a lot of people that Scrum is a methodology for software development. If it's something you are looking for, then this would be a great starting point. It's a very cut and dry audiobook, very textbook feel, but very well structured and has all the core information.
Good info and helpful
This was a very good audio book. It was informative and gave me some new info.
I'm not a big fan of the narrator, but the info itself is great. Provided a good background on Lean and Project Mgt, and went quickly from there. I received this item at a discount in exchange for an honest review.
A new way to complete project tasks,
The book is well laid out, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to complete new software projects. I thought the "Sprint Review" section was particularly helpful as it acted much like a checklist. In my view, the ideas laid out in this book, if applied correctly would encourage knowledge sharing and help upskill all members of your team.
Wonderfully written a joy to listen to.
This quick guide is a must for anyone new or seasoned. It covers all aspects and give great samples of projects using scrum.
I think this was a pretty decent book, but I can't help but think that it could've been somewhat condensed. I do love the flow and the book's thoroughness.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest assessment of this book.
Good Suppliment if You're Taking a Class
The content itself is really relevant to the course I'm taking this semester about software development management.
