What a guy! I know a few people from Boston and I can see some resemblance :-) Good, interesting history book with lots of fun details (especially loved hearing about his dog, Queue that bit the redcoats!) My 7 year old Revolutionary war nut loved it.
Engaging, amusing look into an important figure in American History!
So much fun to learn about Sam Adams and this little, but extremely important, slice of American history; hurray for Jean Fritz-again!

A Fine Book For Children With A Lesson For Everyone
Sam receives "lucky money" from his grandparents. They tell him he can spend it any way he likes. Sam discovers the amount of his gift is not enough to buy the treats he considers but is too much to waste foolishly. When he notices that a homeless man he knows has bare feet he uses the money to buy the man a pair of socks. It is a touching story. I bought it for my grandson whose name is Sam and included some lucky money for him to spend as he wished.

I purchased a perfect copy 5 yes ago for $25
Book was overpriced. I purchased a perfect copy 5 yes ago for $25.00 Australian. Should have mentioned stickers covering I suppose a name inside the cover. However, then only 1 copy was found- now many are around. I paid price as I gave read this version every Christmas Eve since 1991 to my childrenâs/ young adults. Even purchased 100 yr anniversary Golden books of story but alas they werenât pop up and kids said it wasnât sane so each could have their own copy.
I am still interested in 1 more reasonably priced copy in good condition. Original book was about $10 Australian.
The Night Before Christmas-Golden-Moore is wonderful.
The Night Before Christmas (Little Golden Book)... Clement Clarke Moore is a wonderful book for children, and I believe it may be the same one my parents gave me as a kid! Love it! kmb
Not a pop-up book - Not that Great!
Thought this was a pop-up book. It's more a window cut out book and not that "special". Last page is a white cut-out pop up - and it's the only one. Didn't like this book and it wasn't worth the almost $20. I returned it.
Great Christmas gift to the kids
Great Christmas gift to my grown kids to read to their kids.. We read it before opening presents. Good quality.
    Best Christmas story every

    Inching into my toddlers heart!
Oh my goodness I love this book! I had it as a child myself. Such a cute story. My 2 year old daughter loved watching the worm inch along.
    good read
Read this book with them when they are young; it gives you such a great reference point for encouraging your child when they get older -- how to turn a weakness into a strength, how to turn an adversary into an ally, how to outmanuever an opponent.
    good book
good book to introduce measurement...well received by children...
    cute short story
Very cute but short little story. Great to read aloud at bedtime very slowly to help kids get calm, also would be good to use as an early reader.

    Perspective of a worm!
I LOVE this series! I remember reading this book when I first started teaching. I was so happy to grab a copy for my own toddler. It's a great read, from the perspective of a worm! I love books that allow me to use different voices for the kids. This is decently one of those books! I recommend this one and Diary of a Spider as well :)
Biology lessons for pre-schoolers? - not! Very funny.
Found this book at the home we were visiting, and read it to my 4 year-old granddaughter. We both enjoyed it very much. I found it extremely funny - a worm experiencing classic American schooling - and my granddaughter found a lot to talk about in the illustrations. Took the opportunity to explain about poisonous toadstools, and fungi in general, while my listener was fascinated with the new word. We found more in other books that morning - Iâve discovered that childrenâs stories set among trees all feature pretty red toadstools - the extremely poisonous ones with the white spots! In fact I remember the same fungi appearing in books I read as a child.
This book is adorable funny and treasured
This is a wonderful book.my granddaughter in Chicago several years ago had a secret reader program in second grade. My husband and I were in town from Arizona and we became the secret readers. She did not know we were coming. The book we read was diary of a worm. Since that time this book has been read over and over with much love.
    Super happy with them
Really cute learning books. I bought the worm finger puppet to go with this book. Super happy with them.
Quite good. I wouldn't give it an award, but I'm glad I bought it.
Good book. No complaints. I'll be reading it 20+ times.

    Spin a Yarn
One of my favorite fairy tales. Read it with lots of innosence in your voice for the poor Miller's daughter. And read her father as the "fool" he is, wanting to impress the king with his bragging. The role of the king is not developed here, except to say he is a very greedy man. The little man who saves the life of the future queen and is then foiled in his scheme to take her babe is drawn in a most delightful manner. He's more laughable than sinister. In the version I heard as a child he stomped his feet so hard and spun around so much in his anger that he augered himself in the ground. In this version he rides out of the window on a wooden kitchen spoon which was both humorous and pathetic. Zelinsky's art is wonderful and plentiful. Kids will love this picture book. Mine did.
    comic history
This gets 5 stars because of all the childhood memories it brings. When I was a child my father would buy me a Classics Illustrated comic book now and then. I LOVED them and read them over and over. I have thought of them often and never expected to ever lay eyes on them again..what a thrill to find the e comic on Amazon for $1.99..I bought my 2 favorites, (Rapunzel & Rumplestilskin)..because I purchased 2, I received a .99 "gift"..so both comics (containing all those priceless memories for me) were $3.00. If course comics have come so far, the illustrations in these comics are so rough. But the stories are there in a simple to understand language. I loved these as a child. They bring back a flood of memories and emotions for me now. Can't really be objective.
I loved this story when i was a kid
I loved this story when i was a kid, this exact one, with these illustrations. I got this to read to my kids, and it was so much fun watching them explore the pictures and listen to the story. Plus its a nice story that i feel teaches not to use people for ones selfish reasons.
    The illustrations are wonderful!
This is a well-known story that I grew up hearing. I love the illustrator's work in this book! His detail is amazing. I not only own this book, but have also given it as gifts.
A great read aloud book with beautiful illustrations
A great read aloud book with beautiful illustrations! My grandchildren loved this book when they were little. I bought it at Christmas for a bright little girl aged 5. I love the book myself! The illustrations are so gorgeous and detailed.

    GREAT FOR KIDS
MR. MITTENS MAGICAL MITTENS IS WRITTEN WITH LOVE. IT PROVIDES SO MANY OPTIONS FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES: DARLING PICTURES, AN EASY STORY TO UNDERSTAND, A CD OF MUSIC THE CHILDREN CAN SING ALONG WITH THE STORY, MAKING IT EASIER FOR THEM TO IDENTIFY AND MEMORIZE NEW WORDS. AND BLANK COLORING PAGES IN THE BACK FOR THEM TO EXPRESS THEIR ARTISTIC TALENTS. IT IS SEVERAL GIFTS ALL ROLLED INTO ONE!!!
Mr Mittens is more than just a reader
This book is more than just a reader. It is a combination of a music CD (free download off the internet) with the first pages being the illustrations and text of the song on the CD. The next pages are the coloring pages which are the black & white versions of the prior illustrations. Kids will love to color these in. Following that is the sheet music for the song for those youngsters who want to play it on their piano or musical instrument. Lastly there is a page with a link to the Mr Mittens Kittenkaboodle store where kids can get other Mr Mittens stuff like tshirts and puzzles. There is also a plush Mr Mittens cat that will be available in June on the author's soon to be launched website. This book is more than just a reader --it's the whole kittenkaboodle!
Great book for all the kids.
I bought one of these along with the Kitty for my 3 grand children ages 5, 6 and 7...they have enjoyed reading along and the music. I am so proud of my friend, Patricia, for writing and composing this book and songs. She is so very talented.
    Not so quick!
I know these reviews are by the authors' friends and maybe family. One of the reviews is by the author herself using a pen name. You can probably guess which one. For the first month there were no reviews now the author is out hustling reviews from people she knows who will write a bogus review so the author can sell books. I know this to be the truth, Shame on her. I rely on a lot of reviews written on Amazon as I am ordering from your site all the time. Now this makes me question some of the authenticity of the reviews I rely on to order; Truth is always the best.
    "the cat's meow"
Ms. Koepp has created a very cute character that kids will be drawn to. I knew she was a great artist but I wasn't aware of her talents as a poet and a composer. She has put her heart and soul into this publication. Your kiddies will love this kitty.

    Lovely story, perfectly read
This is a truly beautiful story, a wonderful modern fairy tale. And it was read perfectly. The themes are heavy and melancholy, primarily dealing with loss, death and grief. But it was marvelously handled and easily accessible to the 2nd grader listening with me. And, in the end (and throughout), it was ultimately hopeful and empowering. We both loved every minute of it!
    Great kids adventure
If you could sum up Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy in three words, what would they be?
    magical exciting adventure
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ophelia, of course - she's the heroine
Which character as performed by Jayne Entwistle was your favorite?
Jayne did all the characters very well (one of the reasons the story is so good).
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
All the times Ophelia pushed past her fears to do what was right.
    Any additional comments?
Jayne Entwistle is a great narrator, always making her characters come alive. In this book especially, she makes you root for the children (Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy) during their adventures.
    Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy
9 year old: Loved it. Very good.
7 year old: it was really dark and scary and had a lot of adventure.
    Excellent
Very well read. One of the best narrators I have heard. Terrific story, even for older guy like me. Highly recommended.
    Great book

    Fabulous memories!
Erickson's books were fabulous read-alouds when our kids were young - enjoyed by the kids and the adults! They're getting read aloud again, this time to our grandkids, with newer books included. We make digital recordings so they can be listened to over and over! The laughter is really fun on those recordings! Thanks, John Erickson!
Remains The Bomb After 61 Books!
Wow, after a whole raft of Hank books, you'd think all the jokes would have been used, the punch lines beat to death, and more or less a repeat of the book before- after all there's only so much you can write about Hank, Drover and the gang on the ranch... right? Wrong! "The Ghosts of Rabbits Past" had me laughing the whole way through. Sure, they use some of the same ideas over again, but J.R. Erickson has a way of keeping it fresh and hilarious every time. I say, just buy this book and don't question it. It is side-splitting, like all the others. If you don't like it, well, then I'm afraid that there's no hope left for your literary world. Just kidding. But seriously...
    BUY THIS BOOK TODAY!
    Incredible
I've been reading these books since third grade and there has never been a book not deserving five stars. The author of these books has a website, Hankthecowdog.com, where you can play games, download paper backs and audio books, and even send the author an email. Of course I 've already sent him one, but one thing is for sure. Erickson has done it again!
Our family is hooked on Hank!
We added this new title to our library and so glad! What a great story - John Erickson delivers another hysterical adventure with Hank and the gang. These are wonderful stories with great lessons, funny (really funny) songs that everyone enjoys. Sometimes the label of "family fun" makes people think it will be for younger kids, not with Hank! Our favorite so far is The Case of the Tricky Trap, but this title is great as well!
    Funny
Pete the Barncat and Hank the Cowdog never get along, but when a coyote attack forces them to work together, Hank thinks it the end of the world. This funny book shows clearly the rivalry between cat and dog and the fact that working together isn't as impossible as people think. Who is the 'Ghost of Rabbits Past'? Read this book, and you'll be sure to laugh at the answer!
