Format: Unabridged

Length: 9 hrs and 1 min

Language: English

Release date: 04-29-16

Publisher: Brilliance Audio

Genres: Romance, Fantasy

Publisher's Summary:

Hope remains....

All Pandemina Dorothy Avery ever wanted was to be beautifully, blessedly normal, with a stable career and a love life leading to a white picket fence and a happily-ever-after. That seems impossible now. Penniless and parted from her unfaithful boyfriend, unfairly shunned by her coworkers, not even Mina's recent inheritance can help - especially not when it amounts to a ten-pound rock box and guardianship of the horny, devious puca she released from inside. His name's Riordan, and he ain't no Harvey.

What's a puca, you ask? A tricky faery-type, whose magic not only includes shape-shifting into a magnificent black stallion and a snarky mutt, but the ability to manipulate human perceptions. And Riordan is hardly shy of manipulations: Wasn't that why he was imprisoned in the first place? He seems set upon making Mina's life harder than ever, whether it be with Jonathon Teague, the handsome contractor who wants to work on more than her house, or Mina's penitent ex-boyfriend. But as Riordan's very existence proves, things are not always what they seem, and what stepped out of that box might be the key to her dreams.

First audiobook in a series of funny paranormal romances by Natale Stenzel!

Excellent get away read. Lose the world for a while.

I had never read this author before. The storyline sounded good and the price was right. I was happily surprised. Not only did I enjoy Pandora's Box but I immediately bought and read The Druid Made Me Do It (2nd in series). Finished that one in one day and now I'm reading the 3rd book 'Between a Rock and a Heart Place'. The way each book flows into the next yet could stand alone is amazing. I am putting this author on my 'love to read list'.

Fun Story with Interesting Twist

For more than 15 years I've only read a handful of books that were not business, wellness, or self-improvement focused. While on vacation I decided I wanted to read something for fun! The author is a high-school friend so I downloaded Pandora's Box, through my Kindle, while in transit. It took me a while to get into the flow of the story (maybe because of my rusty experience in reading fiction) but as the story progressed I became more engaged. I loved the way the story ended and its unexpected twist. I just may buy the sequel on my next vacation and put away my latest investment 'how-to'! Thanks Natale.

Very cute

Nina and her Pucca. What is a Pucca you ask. Well you'll have to read it to find out! Humorous from the start. I just brought all of Natale Stenzel's other books this one was so cute....

Laughter and Sighs

I so enjoyed reading this book! It's got everything, from frantic and funny to warm and touching and tastefully sexy besides. Not to mention really delightful confusion over who the hero actually is, a few complete surprises (how often does that happen?), and it all makes sense by the end. A great read.

Creative and original, but a few issues with execution

Rated 3.5/5

Summary: Pandemina Dorothy Avery (Mina) was an average woman with an average life and an average relationship. That all changed when she found her live-in boyfriend in bed with the vindictive mother of one of her students.

Kind of a snooze!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Nope

Would you be willing to try another one of Bobbin Beams performances?

Definitely not

Any additional comments?

This book started out as your run of the mill vampire fantasy, but then quickly turned into something much much worse and much cheesier. The romance in this book tries way too hard and feels so underdeveloped. Made me cringe at times.

Not to mention the narrator sounded like an automated monotone throughout the whole book. No inflection, no excitement.

disappointed

the narrator made the characters sound very whiney. the end of the story did not make sense.

Totally addiction!

Narrator does well with both male and female voices, in a conversation just had a little trouble with giving the sisters their own voices. Every once in awhile, I might have wondered who is having the conversation. But being I have this in an ebook I know.

Please, where are the next books in the series???

Love the series and own them all on e-books. While the first 4 audio books were released in a timely fashion, where are the rest?

Bianca D'Arc writes fabulous books...please release more. All of her different series are wonderful.

LOVEABLE SOUL MATES!!

What did you love best about Embrace the Night?

The H/H

What did you like best about this story?

Gabriel/Giovanni and Sara Jaynes undying love!!

Which scene was your favorite?

When Gabriel finally throws caution to the wind and makes love to Sara the first time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Embrace the night was a good romance story. A story of soul mates. Giovanni Ognibene is a vampire who discovers a child left alone and crying. He further discovers she is cripple and abandon with no food or water nothing to help her. He takes the child Sara Jayne Duncan to Sisters of Eternal Mercy Orphanage. Sara names her rescuer Gabriel after the angle. Gabriel watches over her and provides for her as she grows into a lovely women but she still can't walk. The orphanage catches fire and Sara is horribly burned and is dying. Gabriel cannot let her go so he risk giving her some of his blood after he takes her away from the orphanage. It heals Sara and also, heal her so she can now walk.

Sara has always wanted to be a ballerina so he sends her to France and he makes sure she is well provided for. After a 5 year separation Gabriel can no longer live without just seeing her. Here's were the real love story begins.

The story opens with Giovanni/Gabriel standing at the grave site of his wife Sara Jayne she dies at age 75 then Giovanni goes to ground beside her for 50 years and when he awakes the world is quite different its 1975 and he sees a women crying seating in the park. Her husband parents and baby were killed in a car accident. Her name is Sara and she has the same blond hair as his Sara. This modern day Sara also, has vivid dreams of Giovanni and his wife Sara but she doesn't know why she is having this mysterious dreams as if she herself is the Sara that lived them.

The reason I gave the story 4 stars instead of 5 was because I felt the author may have written two heroines and didn't know how to make them one being without the reincarnation part which made the love story a bit disjointed. However it was very well written and I enjoyed and liked both Sara's I just which they could have been melded into one being and I didn't like the fact that they couldn't have children together.

Bad narrator

I love, love, love Amanda Ashley, but couldn't listen to this book because of the narrator. A bad narrator can ruin an amazing book

Old world romantic

If you love vampires and old world romantics. Then this is the book for you. Very long and the love scenes were done with class.

It took me on a journey with them. Very sad. You felt for "Gabriel" the vampire who all he wanted was love and Sara's touch.

I fell in love with him.

I highly recommend this, if you are a romantic. If your looking for the darker side of vampires this is not the book for you. Although you will be chased, buried alive (for Sara) and fight your way out of some very intense moments.

Can't wait to check out the other book from this author.

Members Reviews:

IT WAS DOWNHILL ALL THE WAY

I really really tried to get into this listen but it had everything against it - bad narration, poor storyline, a hero and heroine that had a dysfunctional relationship and didn't quite click (except in the bedroom) and it was split into 3 books so at the start of books 2 and 3 there was a lot of repetition of facts. There was also inconsistencies - they'd been drinking Champagne on the beach.... but later it was referred to as wine, Cami's daughter was 3.... then she was 2. Cami was supposed to have a best friend looking out for her - but she was NEVER there for her and they rarely spoke. The writing seemed amateurish and it was told in 3rd person POV, there was some hot sex scenes (slight bdsm) but eventually I skimmed through all the blah blah just to get to the end - why I bothered I don't know because it was just as painful as all the rest..... stupid stupid me.

Worth a credit? Errrr.... what do you think I'm going to say? Yup - not only NO but HELL NO DON'T COME ANYWHERE NEAR THIS - and I'm asking for my credit back. As for the rest of AW's books... well sorry but I think I'll pass. There, brush off hands, I think my work here is done!

Terrible narrator

Unfortunately the unemotional reading ruined the story. The voice was monotone and made it hard to finish

terrible narrator

Slow to start. Maybe a good book but the narrator does nothing for the characters.

not the same alexa wilder

having read other books by Alexa Wilder, it seems as if this book is written by somebody else. Theme, sentences, and words were constantly repeated. to the point I found myself skipping ahead in the book. the story was decent, but the constant repetition took away from my overall satisfaction. Plus, this book seems like it was written by somebody other than Alexa Wilder.

Great Series

Stubborn Suitor by Alexa Wilder was a fantastic series. There was just enough drama, passion, love and hot sexiness to keep you entertained. Drew a sexy successful business man attends a party given by his best friends family at there beach house. There he meets the beautiful and curvaceous Cami Hendricks. Cami is divorcee/single mother trying to raise her 3 year old daughter Madison. She works long hours as a nurse so that she can have more time to spend with her daughter.

Members Reviews:

Very good addition to the series :)

4 stars

This was a very good story and addition to the series. I liked both Bo and Nyx very much and their story was very good.

Nyx is a half-fae/half-goddess that works for Bo at his supernatural bar. Her mother had her for the wrong reasons and never really loved her. Nyx's father wasn't much better and only saw her as someone he could marry off in an arranged marriage. Nyx has a lot of power but doesn't have great control over it.

Bo is a half-demon/half-human that owns a supernatural bar (in addition to other businesses). Bo was born when his mother was raped by his father. His father wasn't in his life but Bo had a good childhood with his mother who loved him very much. Bo has always had a hard time controlling his demon, usually using fighting or sex to keep it controlled.

Nyx starts working at Bo's bar and makes friends with Keelin (from book #3) as well as some of the other locals. Nyx and Bo become friends but they both have issues that keep them from taking things past the friendship level. Bo wants to though because ever since Nyx came into his life, he hasn't wanted any other women and his demon is calmed by Nyx. Nyx holds back from her attraction to Bo mostly because she's worried about him coming to the attention of either of her parents and them causing trouble for him. This seems like a good fear when her father decides to send people to try to get her to come home to take part in an arranged marriage he set up for her without her consent. Nyx has no intention of following her father's orders and has enough power to keep from being pushed into the marriage but she worries that the issues with her father could cause problems for Bo and her friends.

In the previous book, Nyx needed a favor from her mother and agreed to a favor in return. Nyx's mother asks for the return favor in this book, asking Nyx to deliver a box to a place by a certain time. Nyx and Bo worry that it's a trap so they try to be cautious and scope things out ahead of time...not that it helps much. Trouble ensues and they end up in a hell realm for a while. Thankfully, while the trip causes a strain between Nyx and Bo, it solidifies the need on both sides and Nyx and Bo are both determined to pursue the relationship after that. They have some interesting encounters on their trip and come out of it ok and with some new allies.

Book came to life

I loved this audio book not just because the story was fantastic but because the narrator brought the story to life.

Healing in love

I actually bought this on audio when it first came out. I am glad I got time to listen to it last night. I think this is the first book I have heard Beth Roeg narrate. She did a wonderful job. You really got pulled into the story. Not only did Beth Roeg do a wonderful job narrating but Liv Brywood did an amazing job with the writing the story. If you have read any of the Curvy Bear Ranch series then you are all ready probably in love with the Grant brothers. Yeah they are one sexy werebear.

Rachel Stevenson had dating Brady but broke up 4 years ago when he went to Afghanistan. She never told him the she was pregnant. Now here she is a single mom raising this wonderful little boy who has leukemia. I can only imagine how her heart must of sunk when the doctor told her that her son was going to die with out a bone marrow transplant and she was not a match due to not being a shifter. Her only hope was to find Brady and see if he was a match.

Brady had spent 4 years trying to fill the hole that was left from breaking up with Rachel. When they broke up it really hurt him. He was in love with her and still was. She haunted his dreams at night. He could not even stand the smell of almonds because it reminded him of her. Now here Rachel was standing before him. He was angry and did not want to hear what she had to say.

Finding out for Brady that he had a son was mind blowing. It hurt him deeply to know that Rachel would keep something like this from him. She claimed she had no way of telling him but he knew that was not true. If she really wanted him to know she could of found a way.

There is no guaranty with the surgery. Rachel could find herself losing not only her son but Brady too. Mack already hates her and if he loses his brother this could cause him to hate her even more. I personally would not want to be on the wrong side of a bear shifter.

This was such a wonderful story. It is a book of hurt, healing, love and passion.

Brady is in for a life changing surprise

Would you consider the audio edition of The Cowbear's Secret Christmas Baby to be better than the print version?

I liked both versions equally, one allowed you to imagine everything, the other allowed you to listen & be able to do chores, bake, craft...

Members Reviews:

Entertaining with a side of frustration -_-

Snobby princess who learns a lesson in a very hard way. Lots of time passed without really being told towards the end.

Only regret is that her father doesnt get put in his place at the end.

Poor Narration ruins story

Once you get through the awful brattiness of the Princess in the first half of the story the book could have become both intriguing and enjoyable......the high pitched narrator ruins it though and sounds like a whiny 8 year old.

Oh Aleksander!

I know the fairy tale about Thrushbeard King, mainly from the film, so I don't know how very much the author changed the original.

Generally I liked it, although I have reservations about a heroine. In the first scenes even I sympathized with her, but before the ball and later appeared to me as the moody brat which isn't taking nothing and nobody into account.

I think that she isn't deserving Aleksander, but he has a good effect on her, so there is a good chance that she will grow into respectful woman and queen.

The book runs quite fast, the whole lasted about a month. At some point one scene reminds me of Lord of the Rings ;-P

Really good.

I loved this book. it was so intresting and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a love novel.

Absolutely riveting!

I should have been sleeping instead I kept resetting the sleep timer and telling myself to relax as the adventure unfolded. What a fabulous retelling!

Title: The Night Land: A Story Retold

Author: William Hope Hodgson, James Stoddard

Narrator: Jason Mills

Format: Unabridged

Length: 10 hrs and 1 min

Language: English

Release date: 01-21-16

Publisher: Ransom House

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 18 votes

Genres: Romance, Fantasy

Publisher's Summary:

An adventure of both science-fiction and fantasy - one of the great love stories - this is William Hope Hodgson's masterpiece, rewritten for the modern listener.

Penned in 1912, The Night Land is considered by many to be a work of genius, but one written in a difficult, archaic style that listeners often find impenetrable. As a labor of love, James Stoddard has rewritten Hodgson's book to bring it to a wider audience.

The story opens in the 19th century but quickly moves to the far future, where the sun has gone out, leaving the world in a darkness broken only by strange lights and mysterious fires. Over the ages, monsters and evil forces have descended to the Earth, compelling the surviving humans to take refuge in a great pyramid of imperishable metal built in a miles-deep chasm. The monsters surround the pyramid in a perpetual siege lasting for eons, waiting for the moment when its defenses will fail.

But one man, born out of his time, must leave the pyramid to seek his long-lost love though all the perils of the Night Land.

Members Reviews:

An amazing journey

A tremendously faithful retelling of a classic tale of endless horror and eternal love and triumph. All the same wonder and splendor of the original, but with modernized and cleaned up grammar, actual dialogue, and much stronger characterization.

Absolutely recommend.

Into the night land

I'm a big fan of the works of William hope Hodgson, I remember plowjng through Hodgson's verbose and difficult original text, so it's with some relief that James Stoddard's excellent retelling exits at all. He's managed to make an unfortunately extremely unreadable book palatable for the masses, which is a good thing as hidden in the originals meandering script in a truly fantastic story. I did initially have reservations regarding Jason's narration however, I eventually warmed to his "accent " Well done all.

A master work improved.

W.H. Hodgson's strange and quirky book has been made more readable in this re-written effort. This takes nothing away from the original story, which is a tremendous work of fantasy.

The reader is taken along on a quest through a dark and horror strewn world, where, against all the odds, a lone man ventures into the night land, guided only by premonition and hope, in search of his re-born former wife of an earlier time. No other work of fiction or fantasy is even close to this one, and whether you read this re-told version, or the original, you will be taken along on a journey through a nightmare land which will surprise and delight you.
