Big Disappointment - Rushed, underdeveloped and short

I love this series and the narration is terrific. Unfortunately, this book was not the same quality as the others in the series. It was unsatisfying, like it's half of a longer book and it's clear the author was really rushed to meet a deadline and the story definitely suffered. The last chapters are so rushed. When the big coming out 4-day marriage celebration at Theo's finally happened at the end of the book, the author only gave it a few pages!!! Seriously? It was so bizarre considering the fact we've been anticipating it since the last book and the author talked it up all through this one, as well. I really really wish the publisher had given an even longer extension to the author. I'd much rather wait. This book suffered. Poor book. Sorry Lauren. You're awesome, but something happened and in my dreams it will be reissued in a more complete form someday....

The repartee is crisp, the action is continuous, and the heroine is both thoughtful and a real badass.

Read the book before I bought the audio. It is a favorite series. She does an excellent job with characterizations.

I love this series it is one of my favorites. I find Rowan hysterical the way she pulls no punches verbally, but unlike most of us she can back up anything she says or threatens which I think is fantastic.

Dragons, Wolves and More!

Another awesome story and performance, loved every minute of it!

Katie Reus's Darkness series is definitely a worthy series to listen too and reminds of Coreene Callahan's Dragonfury series. If you like dragons and wolf shifter stories, this is a series you'll want to add to your collection. These stories are slightly shorter than the average book; however, they are well written and both the characters and plot are well developed. There's plenty of action, suspense with lots of twists, and the romance is a steady burn that builds into an inferno.

Taste of Darkness picks up where book one ends, and now Drake is trying to adapt to the world he has not seen in over a 1000 years. When he was a young boy, he was scarified and cast into hell; however, four months earlier, he was freed when a hell gate was opened. During his escape, he meets his future mate Victoria and her pack and assists them in closing the hell gate to prevent demons from escaping into the world.

Even though Drake is now free, he has not claimed his mate. Victoria has been helping him learn his new world and is ready to take the next step in their relationship; however, before he will claim her, he feels he must first be worthy and able to provide and protect her. There's a lot of chemistry and build up between them.

Unfortunately, Drake doesn't remember anything from his past or how he ended up in hell. But when his brother and sister come to visit him, and he is reunited with his family, his memories start to slowly surface, and he soon realizes someone close to him betrayed him.

Full of surprises, good narrator

I hadn't done 3 stories in one book before, but this was a nice surprise. Love how different the stories are, and was really moved by the first one. The narration was very clever and full of heart.

3 stories some better than others.

Interesting combo of 3 different writers. Only one writer include characters of different race other than anglo.. (made them villians) But, all the stories were interesting.

I purchased the book based on my love of AC Arthur, so I was not familiar with Eve Langlais or Kate Douglas. Based on this book, no, I wouldn't automatically purchase books from the other authors. I'm not sure if I will partake in another paranormal book from m AC at this time.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Alexandra Shawnee?

While the narrator had a lovely voice, I found it wrong for this particular subject matter. Because of her high pitched voice, the characters came across ...I don't know, ditzy, unbelievable..I'm not sure, but the voice and pitch were wrong for the subject matter in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I did not care for any of these titles. The first book had promise, but the storyline was stupid. For an assassin who's also a shifter she surely seemed a bit dimwitted. Then the connection between her and her attorneys "creator" was a bit off..I really wasn't feeling the sexual attraction between the 2 either..the 2nd story was just so long..by the time we got to the sex, I really wasn't interested. I understand that the main woman had issues with self esteem etc..but when she ran at the end I was irritated. I mean how many times or ways does a man have to show you before you believe him. She needed to confront them about what she heard and that would have nipped the issue, but no, let's make things more difficult. Two separate menage's didn't make the book and hotter. The 3rd book from AC had me irritated as well.

Liked the other books a little better

Nice ending to the series but I must say the heroine was a little annoying. She never really seemed to understand how to ask questions later rather than during a crisis.

I did enjoyed the series and reading about the brothers. The ending for Maximum was relatively easy to predict and were other conflicts in this book.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

I LOVED THIS SERIES!!!

I looked forward to each brother and their stories since i stumbled across the first book. Maxum's story was seriously an amazing ending to this wonderful tale of 4 brothers.

Maxum was fair and quietly alpha. Ari was strong but not a pain in the ass. Together they were loveable. I did get annoyed when Maxum kept ignoring Ari's warning about that other dude but in Maxum's defense she was kinda manipulating him with their attraction. There was never a dull moment in this story. I sorta want to know what happened to the other two guys in the group and if they found what's his face's mother but it doesn't bother me enough to get pissy.

Story 4 (the extra star is for the whole series)

Narrator - hot damn he sounds sexy. I am totally gonna stalk him on audible and pray he has more romance books coming out.

Yes I would. Melanie James is a great author and though I read her books hearing the audible afterwards puts a whole new spin on the books. With the audible version of Mission Impawsible it brings all the characters and the book to life.

All of them. What is not to love.

What about Hollie Jacksons performance did you like?

Hollie Jackson's voice is wonderful. She does all the characters voices so well. She makes me laugh when she talks as a certain characters. She really makes the books come to life.

This is a great book; this is part of the Karma Inc series by Melanie James and narrated by Hollie Jackson. Kelly is a new witch and is trying to get the hang of doing spells. She accidentally casts an ancient spell and has no idea what spell she did or what is going to happen now that has been cast. It is up to her and her friends to figure out how to reverse it before the Witches Union hunts her down.

The narrator Hollie Jackson did a wonderful job, and was very easy to listen too. She did a great job with the different characters and their voices.

If you are looking for a great book then you need to read this book. I cant wait to read the next book in this series. Once I started listening to this book, I didnt want to stop until the end.

No hero, just romance and chaos

If you are searching for an urban fantasy where luck triumphs over stress induced mental illness this is the book for you. Read A Shift in the Water Volume 1 and though there was a lot of death, it pushed the plot forward and was necessary. A Shift in the Air kept the death and menace but lost the motivation. Maybe the ending circles back, I only made it three fifths of the way through. When if gets to point you have to push yourself to read like you are on an exercise machine trying to reach your goal, it's time to put it down. If you have already invested in an electronic reader the Elemental Shifter is worth a try but I wouldn't purchase a hard copy.

Amazing story, phenomenal narration!

Ms. Henderson weaves an awesome prequel to her series and Mr. Roberts brilliantly narrates the book! This is a must if you are a fan of time travel and historic romance. The characters normally come to life on paper but with Cody narrating you can feel the characters as they go through their journey.

Breathtaking

Have read all books in this series,loved them. They painted the scenes firmly in your mind as if viewing yourself. Blended future and past well. You will want to start at beginning book 1 but you will quickly get hooked so get them all. I used audible for this series and was surprised how convenient it is will continue with audible

Another amazing story by Peggy Henderson.

This is another beautiful adventurous story in the Yellowstone Series. It truly is the beginning of the whole adventure of this series as Peggy takes you back further in time to the very Origins of the Osborne family. I love this one as much as Heart Song and all the others. A MUST LISTEN and listen to the series in order starting with Heart Song so when you listen to this one you will know other characters and how they fit into the stories.

Thank you Peggy for another awesome story and thank you Cody for your great narration with that smooth voice and changing of voices.

Yellowstone Origins: Yellowstone Romance - Book 6

Yellowstone Origins is book 6 of my favorite Time Travel Romance Series. While reading this series, you'll feel as though you are traveling back in time and taking a trip through this beautiful park before humans had the chance to interfere with its beauty. If you havent read the other books in the series, I strongly recommend that you do. Peggy has a wonderful way of painting pictures with her words.

Daniel and Amiee are my favorite couple in the Yellowstone Romance Series but I now have a three-way tie going for the next favorite couple; Dan and Jana, Chase and Sarah and Cameron and Riley.

It is impossible not to fall in love with Cameron and Riley.

Cameron is so protective of Riley. He understands what she is experiencing because hes gone through it himself.

What a train wreck..

I usually don't trash a book but I can't let this go by without comment. I also don't have a problem reading part of a book and turning it off in disgust if I truly don't care for it.

This book/narrator were so bad and the book so short it was like a train wreck, I couldn't turn it off in shear bewilderment at just how awful it was.

I always listen to the sample because the narrator is as important if not more so than the books content, a great narrator can sell a mediocre book usually.

I listened to this sample and it sounded tolerable, but they must have searched the entire book to obtain a short tolerable clip because the utter lack of tone, and emotion involved here are astounding. It was read with such haste and in such a monotone I'm not at all sure how this ended up published and a price tag put on it.

All anglo characters in AFRICA with lion shifters

Cute lion shifter story.. Period.. BUT.. Two anglo female researcher studying strange behaviors of a group of "lions" that are slightly bigger & act different than other lion groups. Turns out that the special group of lions are lion shifter.... WHITE lion shifters.... IN AFRICA...... Really.. No their are NOT afrikaana anglo dutch descendants.. They are descendants from a ship of sailors that took from the land and married a tribal chiefs daughter. The chief cursed them to live half lives.. Half human & half lions.. The leader of the (kiing) falls for one of the researchers.. I guess he felt she (anglo human) was his true mate.. He has sex with her within 4 hours of meeting with her and knocked her up. His pride is upset that their leader "mated" a human.. The female lion shifters want the baby (infant male) and want to kill the mother.. Then the whole pride want to get rid of the king and just raise the baby as a shifter. The kings cousin also falls for the other human anglo female.. NOT one mention of a black person in this story set on the plains of Africa.. I laughed hard while listening to this story.. Guess black females in Africa were not worth mating with.. Unless you are a chief's daughter.. But, it is a O.K. shifter story.. Is it worth a credit??? Flip a coin.. Intimante scenes are light R rated.

Dreadful

I am not a harsh critic so for me to ask for a refund and give 1 star is unusual. This could have been a great story. How can a story about a woman having two sexy brothers in her bed not be ! Well ask your 80 year old English teacher to write a sex scene and this is the result. I cringed at some of the descriptions : definitely not hot just embarrassing. An over use of the English dictionary in an attempt to make a bad writer seem more plausible. Sadly it doesn't detract from the poor flow and the disjointed dialogue; it is merely sad and incredibly annoying. Hot bits : only if you are a virgin and have a rubbish imagination. Seriously this book has made me think perhaps even I should give writing a try. My advice : do not waste your time or your money.
