    Title: Tom Revilo
    Author: D C Stansfield
    Narrator: Mark Revel
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 6 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-28-17
    Publisher: Dave Stansfield
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage
    Publisher's Summary:
For the freedom fighters it was an incredible opportunity to strike deep into the core of the United Kingdom. No longer need they rely on soft targets, murdering ordinary men and women, to build fear and terror. Now they could attack at the heart of the British Government, killing Members of Parliament one by one until their demands were met.
The planning had been extensive and years in the making. The highly trained team was already in England and a traitor, high up in the British Secret Service, was providing them with all the information they could possibly need. They could not fail.
Set against them is Tom Revilo, someone who has been out of the great game for a number of years, a hard clever man, now dragged back from obscurity. His task, to kill the terrorists and catch the traitor and be damn quick about it.
So begins a cat and mouse game of murder and brutality from Southern Ireland to the heart of London with the future of England at stake.

    A good start
A good yarn and much enjoyed. Would like to have had the whole story told and not half. Also would like to know more about the characters. We need to get to know Tom much better in order to appreciate the next plot.
Finally, a small quibble. Quite a few typos, misspellings and incorrect grammar that was not present in the previous books.
I do enjoy this new voice in spy thrillers.
    A Very Good Read
I have read all of Stansfield's books and this is far and away his best effort yet. I agree with most of the comments in the first review, but thought the editing in this book was a huge improvement. One thing that may cause us 'Mericans to get confused is that differences in spelling and even punctuation between our two countries may be misconstrued as "mistakes". At any rate, I liked this book (the plot of which was very much related to the things that have happened in the U.K. this year) and look forward to the next installment. I suspect that Mr. Stansfield will develop the Revilo character quite a bit in days to come.
I've read all the "grey man" books and I enjoyed "Tom" almost as much
I've read all the "grey man" books and I enjoyed "Tom" almost as much. I would have like a little more background on him as there was with each of the 3 main characters in the first "grey" book. I like the fact that the easy plot isn't taken and there are many twists to how he gets to the end.But I look forward to the next book!
    Good Read
The story line was well developed and not implausible. Very well researched and easy read. Well done. Recommend to all.
Not as Good as The Grey Man
A little disappointed after The Grey Man books. Lots of time spent getting characters and ended with "To Be Continued". However, the story line was intriguing and eventually played out with a great deal of action

Brave comes in all shapes and sizes
A poignant story of the highs and lows of war and the everlasting effects on our brave heroes.
Don Warrick has great diction and a grasp of the characters he portrays.

    Beautifully written story
I loved this book! Its a beautiful story thats very well written. The author is new to me and, thus, the series, too. After listening to this book, I plan on starting the series from the beginning; I definitely intend to check out more of Uvi Poznanskys work. The narration was okay, though, the female voices left a lot to be desired. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.
    Amazing!
Gorgeous writing with a unique and beautiful story. The narration of this audio was exceptional - some of the best I've ever heard. This is my first book by this author and I can't wait to check out more! Highly recommend!

    Beautiful Story!
Wow! I was amazed with this beautiful story. I have been intrigued with spy stories ever since I met a real life WWII spy when I was in college. The stories he told were inline with this book. The imagery was so realistic in this book, and I loved the narration. Don Warrick is such a talented performer with his various distinguished voices. I found this book to be a standalone listen and part of a series. I am very impressed with this author and will definitely listen to more books by her. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it.
A WW II sy thriller like no other
    Any additional comments?
Marriage before Death by Uvi Poznansky is a treasure, read alone or in its place in her series. We follow characters from her other books into a WWII milieu, with all the unparalleled darkness of those days. Poznansky's talent and resonance with the story means that you can read Marriage before Death on its own or as Book 5 in a series, following (Book 1: My Own Voice, Book 2: The White Piano, Book 3: The Music of Us, Book 4: Dancing with Air). Poznansky's protagonist Lenny, narrowly escapes execution, but not capture. Through his eyes and those of Natasha, who faces a more personal terror,a hideous fate, we are thrust into a world that not only breathes, but does so in a lyrical way that, somehow, brings the story closer, not farther away. If you haven't read Poznansky, Marriage before Death is a fine place to begin. Then, of course, you'll want to grab the others that came before. Brilliant.

Highly recommend. I guess everybody has their own take on Hollywood, but I must admit I really like this one. The heroine is a real bada**. The story pulls you in from the get go, and keeps you in up until the last page. Can't wait for the next one, which I'm assuming there will be...

Old school feel meets new school badass. Author paints a picture with every word. I recommend it to anyone.
A Promising Ride in "Hollywood Shakedown"
Author has a quick, concise style. No fat in the reading. It's all to the point to keep it moving. Father and daughter are equally hard-nosed,
out to get the job done and leaving no prisoners. Hollywood conspiracies, plot twists, shady characters help to keep it all entertaining.
    yeah baby!
Loved the twist at the end, it makes the whole story even better. The second should start where this one leaves off.

    Members Reviews:
Enjoyable and humorous, but it ends in a cliffie!!
This is a fast moving book, and it covers several characters and timelines, so you need to pay attention. I liked it very much, and I hope there will be more Joe Wilderness books in the future. This was my first book by John Lawton, and I'll be looking for more novels by this talented writer. The narration is fabulous, but there are a fair amount of short passages in various foreign languages with no obvious translations, so that was frustrating.
This book ends in a HUGE cliffhanger, with absolutely no warning, so that was frustrating, too. I just started the second book in the series and it starts up exactly where this one left off, which is good. Now I'm wondering how book two will end, especially as there is not yet a book three available... We'll see, I suppose.
I recommend this book to those who like WWII/Cold War espionage stories, mysteries, and suspense with a heavy dollop of black humor. I LOVE Joe, he's an interesting and original character, half con man and half scholar, who can't seem to get much of a break. He's a Cockney bloke at heart no matter what sort of international intrigue he finds himself in the middle of, and I loved every minute he was 'onstage'. Michael Caine 50 years ago would have been perfect for the part!
The other characters are also well-drawn and interesting, no one is a cookie cutter. The narrator does a great job giving everyone a unique voice, his accents and foreign language passages are also exceptional.
Be prepared to go back and forth in time from the point of view of more than one character, and to keep track of all various threads (and characters) the author is weaving together.

    A bit predictable
Although I am glued to the detail, intricate story lines, I fear they are getting all too predictable.
Admiral Morgan can't be wheeled out of retirement yet again, surely? The US Navy seal and submarines can't save the world yet again? I know it's heavily Navy biased, but the US has other military specialists don't they? No mention of the USAF ever, or the Army.
I think integrating all 3 major services especially whilst conducting world wide operations would be far more realistic.
With all that said, once again I found it hard to put down.
    Calling all wanna-be-submariners.
Hard to believe how timely this book is right now with the world in chaos.
    Not PC
Very well written 'Spy vs Spy' para-military novel. Characters that we wish we had protecting our freedom in current reality. A harken back to when Americans had confidence in our country's ability to defend and protect - far away from the reality of today and how our government is run from the golf course. I felt good reading these novels of Patrick Robinson's reality of the 1990's; back when America stood for the principal of freedom for the civilized country's of the world.
Absolutely not for the PC liberal progressive America last crowd.
... I started reading this series I thought they were pretty good. Then as I got further in to ...
When I started reading this series I thought they were pretty good. Then as I got further in to the series I find that it is always the same or similar story line. Always the same scenarios and very repetitious in each single book. Descriptions abound about the same statistics of the cruise missile, the size of the sub etc. etc.
I actually stopped reading Mr. Robinson's books in the middle of "Hunter Killer" and went back to a different author.
    Great Book
Patrick Robinson is an outstanding story teller, The book keeps you on edge wondering what will happen next. He uses some of the same good guys and some of the old bad guy's, Some of the points he makes are a little off but close enought. I should know because I was in the US Navy for 28 years, 8 Years in the submarine service and most of the rest in under water demolition team and seal team. At 77 years old I do read a lot and Patrick Robinson is at the top of my lest along with W E B Griffin and Tom Clancy. Ya all have a great year.

    Another good Think Tank Triller
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I read the The Calypso Directive a few years back and saw that the author is making a series of the Think Tank. I loved the first book, especially the companian novella Ring of Flowers. The Infiltration Game doesn't disappoint. Most of the Think Tank crew is here for another intriguing thriller. This time rather than dealing with a deadly virus, the team is working to stop a nefarious Chinese corporation trying to embed its spy technology into US military hardware. Seeing what has unfolded over the last few years with multinational Chinese companies buying US companies, government sponsored hacking and actual Chinese CPUs with embedded spyware; this novel is spot on and puts context around what must be happening out in the real world everyday. The author does a great job coming up with clever and realistic ways for the Think Tank to hack into and get hacked by others. Most thrillers gloss over the hacking but this one is very plausible; a la Mr Robot (another favorite).
Can't wait to read the next book in the series. Let's hope there is one...
Who was your favorite character and why?
Albane Mesnil because her beauty is gravity. And she is a badass. :)
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
    Narrator was ok.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes very fast paced.
    Any additional comments?
    Lets hope for another.

Maxwell Smart Meets The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Clearly something so over the top is meant to be parody! Ian Fleming glamorized the Cold War, Agents Solo and Kuryakin added sly humor and of course Maxwell Smart upped the ante to slapstick. SpyCo is a throwback to the marvelous yarns of yesteryear with derring do and bullets flying and bodies piling up in the corridors as the "good guys" rappel down a cliff in Greece. While vocalizing the characters expertly, narrator Anthony Lee [AUDIO] seemed to add a deliberate heavy-handedness hinting at stuffy bureaucracy behind the freewheeling agents. Ah, nostalgia! I enjoyed this thoroughly!
Disclaimer: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
    Good story.
I really enjoyed the story line. The dialogue parts of the narration were good but the rest of the narration reminded me of text to speech.
    A page turner.
Would you listen to Assignment: Athens again? Why?
Yes, you can follow the characters and plot better.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Burke was tenacious to complete his assignment.
What does Anthony Lee bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He knew his characters well and brought them to life.
A bit of a weird accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, the plot held your attention throughout.
    Any additional comments?
"I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
This book fell a little flat with me
What worked? There was lots of action, and I loved that the female lead is an agent and not just fluff. The characters are well developed.
What didn't work? The bad guys continually did the 'bad guy monologue' allowing the good guys to get into position to defeat them. Yes, this is the classic formula, but it's so unrealistic and stereotypical that I find it disappointing. In fact the whole book was predictable and there were no surprises.
If you want something short that you can listen to that doesn't take a lot of concentration then this book might work for you.
The narration was also a bit disappointing. Overall it was OK, but only OK. The character voices for the main characters worked, but the bad guys tended to have really odd voices that were humorously ridiculous sounding.

    Publisher's Summary:
From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Black Widow comes the thrilling new summer blockbuster featuring legendary spy, assassin, and art restorer Gabriel Allon.
A heart-stopping tale of suspense, Daniel Silva's runaway best seller The Black Widow was one of 2016's biggest novels. Now, in House of Spies, Gabriel Allon is back and out for revenge - determined to hunt down the world's most dangerous terrorist, a shadowy ISIS mastermind known only as Saladin.
Four months after the deadliest attack on the American homeland since 9/11, terrorists leave a trail of carnage through London's glittering West End. The attack is a brilliant feat of planning and secrecy, but with one loose thread.
The thread leads Gabriel Allon and his team of operatives to the south of France and to the gilded doorstep of Jean-Luc Martel and Olivia Watson. A beautiful former British fashion model, Olivia pretends not to know that the true source of Martel's enormous wealth is drugs. And Martel, likewise, turns a blind eye to the fact he is doing business with a man whose objective is the very destruction of the West. Together, under Gabriel's skilled hand, they will become an unlikely pair of heroes in the global war on terror.
Written in seductive and elegant prose, the story moves swiftly from the glamour of Saint-Tropez to the grit of Casablanca and, finally, to an electrifying climax that will leave listeners breathless long after the final moments.
But House of Spies is more than just riveting entertainment; it is a dazzling tale of avarice and redemption, set against the backdrop of the great conflict of our times. And it proves once again why Daniel Silva is "quite simply the best" (Kansas City Star).

Gabriel and Crew back at it...
Topical and timely, like the characters, even the ones I hate...lol. Back to form now after a couple of mehs for me, less love interest side stories and more spy on spy, after all it is a spy novel.
