    Title: Half-Off Ragnarok
    Subtitle: InCryptid, Book 3
    Author: Seanan McGuire
    Narrator: Ray Porter, Emily Bauer
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 17 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-17-14
    Publisher: Audible Studios

Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Paranormal
    Publisher's Summary:
What do gorgons, basilisks, and frogs with feathers all have in common? They're all considered mythological by modern science, and some people are working very hard to keep them that way. Alexander Price is a member of a cryptozoological lineage that spans generations, and it's his job to act as a buffer between the human and cryptid worlds - not an easy task when you're dealing with women who have snakes in place of hair, little girls who may actually be cobras, and brilliant, beautiful Australian zookeepers. And then there's the matter of the murders...
Alex thought he was choosing the easier career when he decided to specialize in non-urban cryptids, leaving the cities to his little sister, Verity. It turns out that he had no idea what he was getting himself into. It's a family affair, and everyone - from his reanimated grandfather to his slightly broken telepathic cousin - is going to get involved before things get any better.
Half-Off Ragnarok is the third installment of the highly praised InCryptid series.

Another great book from Seanan McGuire
Would you listen to Half-Off Ragnarok again? Why?
I don't re listen to books but it was a great book and glad I listened to it
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the mx of humor and action
What about Ray Porter and Emily Bauer s performance did you like?
I thnk they did a great job with all the characters
*Hail* Meet the Price Family and Monsters
I'll be the first to admit I'm a shameless Seanan McGuire fangirl. Just accept it. So therefore, by virtue of my 'office' I tend to love everything she writes. I have yet to find an exception to this; though I will admit there was a thing or two that left me a wee bit wanting (but I think it's just because I'm abnormally attached to odd side characters.)
One of the things that ended up being a source of amusement, and simultaneously an irritation: it was ever so slightly predictable in spots. Now, that sounds worse than it is- it's like telling a 'good guy' that "I just want to be friends. It's not you, it's me." Sounds like the kiss of freakin' death when that's not the impression I want to give. Basically, there was more than one aspect that was not a shock or surprise at all, and that's not always a bad thing. There is some comfort in that fact, there is not such a huge 180 slap-to-the-head that makes you thing WTF? On the other hand, a little more flabbergasted shock might not have been such a bad thing to experience.
While there are new characters to learn about and love, there are still some of my favorites from previous books in the InCryptid series: (please excuse my spelling now, as I've primarily listened to the books and that doesn't give any clue if I'm spelling something right) Sarah, even a cameo from Verity, and one cannot forget the Aisling Mice *Hail*. I simply adore those mice, and really, really want a colony of my own. Even if I might go broke on baked goods.
It all boils down to this: Half-Off Ragnarok is a lovely addition to the series, but ultimately not my favorite so far in the series. It was nice hearing more from the male of the Price family, but Verity already danced her way into my heart as my favorite, I think.

the best of the series! please be another book!
If you could sum up The Immortal Circus: Final Act in three words, what would they be?
    Intense, creative and clever
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lilith is my favorite, just because the author and narrator did really well on her character and details.
    Which scene was your favorite?
the final part is my favorite, please say there is another book!!! Ending sounds open, where the author could leave it as is or make another set of books.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    YES.
    Any additional comments?
Great read. The first book was hard to get into, second was much better and this book makes all the time worth it. Read this series.
The last book has some issues. (Spoiler alerts)
Several things bothered me about the book towards the end.
Vivian got angry at one of the shifters who was refusing to help put up the tents. They demanded to be released from their contract. All this time vivian thought she had no control over it. She got angry and then poof the contract was changed. If you read it carefully you will realize that it was in fact a change, not a release clause of the agreement. First of all, the contracts cannot be changed except on full moons. This was not one of those days. Second of all, it needs to be done with the blood of the person the contract is with. It's indicated by the scene where vivian signed her own contract and of course the glimpse in the future in this third book of her interactions with a friend that requested cancellation. The author isn't consistent when it comes to the blood requirement of the circus contracts.
Vivian had an easy out by going to tir na nog once she made the bargain with oberon. It happened only a chapter or 2 before so it's not like she forgot about it. As soon as she made the Oberon bargain she could have named the entire winter court as her friends. A few scenes after that she escaped him which gave her the opportunity to go directly there. That would have made her the hero, sacrificing her one human life to have any happy ending in a version of heaven and at the same time saving the fairies from endless war and all of the humans from a demon apocalypse bu na we can't have people making logical decisions.
Vivian wanted her powers back and mab demanded a super high price for it talking about some nonsense of balance etc. It's total b.s. logic.

This world is too beautiful to be done with
I have loved this series more than I can say and I was done with it too fast. There is so much more that can be done with this world, this series that I hope so so much Jodi does more with it. I love all the characters, the places, the Irish tales I had never heard before. Thank you so much for this series Jodi McIssac! I'm so glad I got to experience it.
    Great Adventure
All three books in this series were fun and exciting to read or as I do listen to. Three great adventures that had lots of twists and turns. Well worth the time. Enjoy.
Great Story, not so great Performance
The story was fabulous, though difficult to listen to because of the narrator. I will not listen to any more books read by Kate Rudd.
Excellent story based in Celtic lore
The series was fantastic with just a few plot holes. I will let you discover those for yourself if you can find them at all. I would hate to ruin the fantasy for you. I truly enjoyed reading and listening to these 3 books and imagining the stories I read in a contemporary light. The characters came to life and I love the relationships between mother and daughter, father and daughter, husband and wife, new friends and new lovers as described by Jodi McIsaac. If you enjoy contemporary fantasy or have studied a bit of Irish Celtic history the Thin Veil series will be a good read for you.
    Excellent.
I really enjoyed this book and the way the author brought to life all the new characters it was great!

Charming is Like Dresden in wolves clothing
At first I saw the title of this book and read the publishers synopsis and really wasn't too sure about it. I don't like sappy insipid romances and I really hate books that are too predictable. This one was not either. I found the entire book delightful. There were funny portions as well as heated fight scenes and of course the supernatural. Although E. James' pantheon is a little bit different than Jim Butchers - the overall construction is very similar but different enough to keep your interest without going nuts. The main character is very engaging and as a listener I felt that the narrator did a really super job at creating the character. While the name of the book is rather cheesy - it sorta fits the persona and it makes for a good story-line. This book is nothing like what you would think it is and I highly recommend it as another "Dresden" like book/series. However - only Book 1 is available on audible. Hopefully that will change and more of the series will become available.
    Charming was made for audio!
I loved Elliott James PAX ARCANA universe, his first person POV writing style, and John, the male protagonist, but I had some major issues with the love triangle, info dumps, and the fact that the female lead was a Valkyrie. However, the former appears to have been resolved, and even though I have reached my limit on books that feature this type of lore, the Norse mythology was light enough to be tolerable. And, because of this, I will not hesitate to one-click DARING in September. CHARMING was made for audio, as soon as I heard Roger Waynes voice I knew that this series was meant for my ears and not my eyes.
A number of reviewers mentioned that having the narrator speak directly to the reader was a little weird; I on the other hand did not have this problem thanks to the audiobook. From the prelude onward I felt like I was part of the story, and I really enjoyed that aspect of James style. The world-building was rich albeit a little too much at times, and I especially liked the idea behind the PAX ARCANA. Many authors struggle with whether supes are out or not, so I loved the idea behind a world-wide spell. The Knights Templar oath also added an interesting twist on what John can and cannot do, plus hes learned how to brew the perfect cup of coffeea man after my own heart!
Im not sure why the love triangle surprised me, but I honestly just didnt expect one from a male Urban Fantasy author which is probably why it annoyed me way more than it should have. Dvornik and Charming are two bad ass characters, so the fact that they are fighting over Sig like a couple of school boys struck me as ridiculous.

    Great continuation of the story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, just as long as they started with book 1. Starting from this point would be too confusing.
What about Andrew McFerrins performance did you like?
I liked everything about his performance. He's a great narrator. He does a great job with male and female voices, and changes just enough between characters to where you're not lost when the next person speaks.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, I can't recall laughing any during this book. I also did not cry, although there are several cringe worthy moments.
    Still going strong
    Any additional comments?
There's a line in the book at the very beginning made by Steve that made me laugh out loud at the way the narrator - Andrew McFerrin- delivered it. It was done exactly how I'd expect the line to be delivered and it helped bring me back into Brown's world easily. It was "God knows, the bones wouldn't come out of the trench on their own.... *God, please. Don't let them come out of the trench by themselves."
You'll know when you hear it.
I've said it in a previous opinion of the book series, but if you've made it this far, you know that you'll enjoy the ride.
I will say that there do seem to be a lot of characters in the books that start kind of feeling like they have a lot of the same character traits of other major players- but I'm ok with heroism in books. And, not every character that I want to see lives, does- so there's a good balance of new people to deaths of characters who have been around a while, and most die in a tragic way, that's gutsy for a writer to do - considering fans have come this far.
The book takes place at the very beginning of Winter - and then during some big snow storms that have taken place. In most cases, there won't be SO much action taking place because all of the people would want to hunker down and avoid the weather, so I can at least say that the book does a good job of at least showing some of the horrible bickering that would go on if you were locked in one place with a group of people, but luckily does NOT go overboard with completely inane conversations that would happen to people for real. (The girls never get THAT over the top girly in annoyance).
The heroes have proven themselves and most often than not always put themselves first in harms way.

    Almost returned...almost.
I didn't mind the first book. I did not like this one at all.
Plot was leaking all over the place and the characters degraded to paper dolls, easily torn. I had the whole thing playing as background noise by the end.
Sorry, won't be following the rest of this story.
    Almost
The writing is compelling enough that I couldn't stop listening . The story almost develops characters well, almost is coherent, is almost entertaining. Nick Podehl is the reason I will eventually listen to the next book. His skill at breathing life, color, depth -- realness to the story- made it worth the listen. The story is also gory and dark. The writers are very skilled in crafting cringe.
    Exciting
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely, the story continues down a path where the end is known but just like a rollercoaster, its not about the destination, its the ride.
What did you like best about this story?
Patrick's character is the most compelling to me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I found myself listening durring my work day

If you like The Tome of Bill you should... But...
    Any additional comments?
This book is important if you continue onto Goddamned Freaky Monsters. But I would recommend reading it, unless you can get past the Game Show Host voices the narrator uses for most of the characters. It was unbearable to me, but it is just my opinion. Though I was waiting for her to say, "And what's behind door number two? Well, Drew, it's a New Car!"
    Something to tide you over
This book is a novella in place before the next book in the series which is out in print but not audible as of the writing of this review. The book is the usual fast paced, humor filled stories I have come to expect from this series. If you like the previous books you will more than likely enjoy this one.
I think some of the negatives written about this series are more due to the lack of most of the main characters from the previous stories. I , for one, enjoyed learning about Sally's backstory and finding out what makes her tick. She had a sassy, smart-alec sense of humor, but it was different enough that I didn't confuse her viewpoint with that of Bill in the previous novels.
I was kind of surprised by the low rating of the narrarator by other reviewers. I thought she did an excellent job capturing the attitude and cattiness of the main character. it was a bit over-the-top but then again Sally is pretty over-the-top herself. The only reason I rated the narraration so low was the quality of the editing and recording was one of the worst I have heard in many moons. You can literally hear multiple cuts when they stopped recording and restarted based on the amount and volume of background noise you hear.
I could defnitely hear a lot of background noise in the recording such as moving pencils, the air conditioner changing and even some car noises in the background, The background volume also changes a lot during the recording. That definitely brings down my evaluation but not so much that I did not enjoy the book.
If you like the series this is a good continuation, but I think you could get by without this one and just get the next book in the series if you want to save some money. Still, I liked it, but it is a little pricey for a 6 hour recording.
Okay story, bad reader, good for series completion
It was very nice to have a story from Sally's point of view and to learn of her origins and get hopeful hints of her future. The plot of that story, however, felt a bit rushed and haphazard, the dialogue a little stiff in places.

    A nice Surprise
I saw this on sale and thought I would give it a chance. I found myself rapped up in the heroin's story... now I'm hooked. I hope they release the rest of the Blood Destiny series on audible.
    Great read!!!
What did you love best about Blood Wager?
It read like real people and I liked the sort of feeling like you were reading a journal.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lissa. Main character because she was likable even tho she is in not perfect. She is real and trying to figure out her way in this world.
What about Traci Odoms performance did you like?
Real voices. Not snotty better than everyone voices.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes.
    Any additional comments?
Loved it. I was sad to see that this is currently the only one at audible. I want to listen to more of her books.
    Not really
If you're looking for a new female, vampire, action hero, this is NOT the book for you. While it begins well enough, there are elements of the story (what little story there is) that are hazy and some that are just pointless. Why does the big, bad male vampire force her to shower in front of him? Was this supposed to be sexy? It wasn't. Why does she start to report to the big, bad male vampire when she actually has seniority? Why does she run errands for her male co-workers on her day off?
You are probably beginning to get the picture. The author does some lip-service in attempt to establish the heroine as a strong, independent woman but she then turns herself into a den mother for her male co-workers.
I didn't even finish the book. It was too lame to bother with.
Love the Series. Please do the rest!! Good Narrator
Would you listen to Blood Wager again? Why?
I already read the series over and over again. If they keep the same narrator, I'll purchase them all. I'll purchase them anyway.
What did you like best about this story?
The heroine, and the storyline. Connie Suttle has the history for her characters down pat.
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Lissa was helping Weldon, the Grand Master, when he was being attacked.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Blood Destiny, which is the name of the series
    Any additional comments?
Please Audible do the whole series?
P.S. and the connecting series': Legend of the Ir'Indicti, High Demon, The God Wars, and Saa Thalarr.
    A compelling read!
This was a great read/listen. Lissa Beth Workman is a dumpy, sobbing drunk in a local bar when two vampire walk in and take an interest. They make a wager and proceed to turn her just so they can time the turn. Then they planned to make her dead dead.
What happens next makes for one action packed adventure that takes place all over the supernatural world.
    Could. Not. Put. It. Down.
Don't miss this one. Can't wait for more.

Narrator Isn't Best for Samantha Moon's Voice!
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The narrator, Sylvia Roldan Dohi, just ISN'T Samantha Moon's voice; very wussy compared to Diana Pearlman, prior narrator.
Would you be willing to try another one of Sylvia Roldán Dohis performances?
    No. Unfortunately ... just no.
Did Vampire Gold inspire you to do anything?
To only read the ebook, and forget listening to the audible recording.
    Any additional comments?
The narrator's voice makes a big difference in a person's enjoyment of a audible book. Unfortunately this narrator's voice doesn't change that much for different characters, and is just plain wussy for the main character. Also, the story wasn't nearly as engrossing as the others I've read.

Click your heels three times and say, "There's no place like Bloomies!"
Katie Chandler's life is pure magic - literally. As an executive assistant at Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., she's seen more than her share of fantastical occurrences. A mere Manhattan mortal, Katie is no wizard, but she's a wiz at exposing "hokum" pocus, cloaked lies, and deceptive enchantments. And she's fallen under the all-too-human spell of attraction to Owen, a hunky wizard and coworker. Owen, however, is preoccupied. Someone has broken into his office and disrupted top-secret files, and it reeks of an inside job. CEO Merlin (yes, the Merlin) and taps Katie and her special ability to uncover the magical mole.
Keeping her feelings in check while sleuthing alongside Owen, Katie is shocked to discover that her immunity to magic is waning, putting her in grave danger. Soon she's surrendering to the charms and enchantments of everyone and everything around her, including a killer pair of red stilettos. Katie must now conjure up her natural instincts to get to the bottom of the break-in, regain her power, and win the wizard of her dreams.

    Perfect narration. Awesome story
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this series, but from the moment I started reading I was hooked. The hilarity of each situation, and plot twist. The incredible imagination of Shanna Swendson sucks you into this hysterical world with in NYC, of unexpected fairies, and trolls, gargoyles and magical folk. You will be laughing from one book to the next, and chomping at the bit for the next book to find where the crazy leads you. A must listen. The narration is perfect also. Eva Wilhem really brings these characters to life.
    Fun and Witty!
This series is lighthearted but absolutely enchanting! The characters pretty much had me from the start and I enjoyed this installment as much as the first.
    It's all about the Shoes...
Cinderella knows that shoes can change your life and so does Katie Chandler. This second in the series is good and the author does a better than average job of catching up a reader without telling the whole story of the first book. The plot won't wow you, but the pleasure in these books are the atmosphere and world of magic that the author makes believable. These books are upbeat and realistic, believe it or not.
Alice in Wonderland meets Harry Potter
Enchanted Inc. is the first in the series from author Shanna Swendson. This is a fun chick series that is a mystery, an adventure, and a romantic comedy which is lighthearted, magical, and fun.
There are characters you'll love and remember. The heroin, Katie, is completely ordinary in a universe of magic. This is a good thing.
For adults the series is Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter all rolled into one. It is a mystical romp and a fun escape. Read and enjoy.
    Interesting.
Would you listen to Once Upon Stilettos again? Why?
It was cute and I loved the romance side of it. It actually said "Aw" outloud a few times.
What did you like best about this story?
The premise is so interesting that it has me hooked. Plus a pair of shoes that makes every man want you? Sign me up!
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I loved her male voices and I wish Owen had more speaking parts. *Swoon* I had trouble with her accent she gave Katie's speaking voice.
