    Subtitle: Daniel Faust Volume 4
    Author: Craig Schaefer
    Narrator: Adam Verner
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 35 mins
    Language: English

Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Paranormal
    Publisher's Summary:
It's hard to make a dishonest buck in Sin City, especially when a rogue FBI agent is gunning for your head. Flat broke and one step ahead of the law, Daniel Faust flees Vegas and lands in Chicago, where a risky heist promises to fill his pockets with cash.
There are the risks you can account for, and then there are the risks you never see coming, the ones that leave you blindsided and fighting to survive. Daniel is a stranger in a strange land, out of his element and surrounded by corrupt sorcerers, demons, and worse. Still, with a friend's soul hanging in the balance - not to mention a pile of stolen cash - giving up isn't an option.
Before he's done, Daniel will descend into the depths of Chicago's occult netherworld, competing in an underground poker tournament where the winner takes all...and with the infernal Court of Night-Blooming Flowers running the show, "winner takes all" has an entirely new meaning. The Flowers haven't forgotten Daniel's past insults, and if they get their way, he'll never leave the Windy City alive.

    Entertaining, if a bit repetitive
While the story played out similarly to the previous novels, it was still written well and very entertaining to listen to, much credit given to both the author and the narrator.
    He just breaths trouble!
    Any additional comments?
Daniel, Daniel Daniel! He knows d@mn well when he should walk away because every time he doesn't, someone he trusts is killed. He should have been named Daniel Be Trouble, honestly.
Loads of action, still gets his butt kicked but that car incident with the cards in Chicago was awesome! More magic like that with that type of outcome would be cool. I'm honestly sick of him getting his butt kicked all the time.
Pretty decent listened, great entertainment and the betrayals make the story more interesting!
By the way, Frankie is the chic any woman should want and strive to have as a best friend! I couldn't get enough of her. When she went off on that blonde succumbus chic, it was a classic Mean Girls moment. I loved it!
Best book in the series so far.
This is a great addition to the series. A whole new story line is introduced at the very end, I can't wait for more books.
    Could. Not. Put. Down.!
I started this and then had to put it aside. Not by choice! Once I got back into it, it maybe took a day to finish. Could. Not. Put. Down.!
Interestingly, this feels more like a book that was divided in two. Unlike his previous three, Craig Schaefer ends this on a major cliff hanger. His others mostly come to an end with everything answered. Although Faust has been in trouble since day one and it tends to follow him around, this one was very different. The ending had me immediately picking up the fifth in the series. Thank goodness I am not reading these when they were published because I had a moment of anger, frustration, and denial, and then I started reading book five.
This did have all of the other aspects of Daniel Faust. All the old characters are in this and causing just as much havoc as before. The problem is, and maybe my lines are blurring a little here, I don't think of Faust as a bad guy. People tell him that they could not just murder the way he does, but he doesn't. He does if someone is an (insert expletives here) but only if they deserve it.

    Title: Grim Tidings
Subtitle: An Aisling Grimlock Mystery, Volume 1
    Author: Amanda M. Lee
    Narrator: Karen Krause
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 38 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-10-15
    Publisher: Amanda M. Lee
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 242 votes
Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Paranormal
    Publisher's Summary:
    Grim(ace) while you work....
Aisling Grimlock is having a bad week. Well, actually, she's having a bad life - not that she's complaining. Okay, she's totally complaining.
After being laid off from her secretarial position, she has no choice but to join the family business, and now she's a full-time grim reaper. That's right. She collects and transfers souls to the hereafter.
    Cool, huh? Not quite.
On the second day of her new job, Aisling (literally!) stumbles over a dead body that's not on her list and the stakes are suddenly raised because, when a name isn't on the list, that means someone stole it (and that's never a good thing).
Aisling's family, which consists of a tempestuous father and four overbearing older brothers, are hot on the case - but the answers they're coming up with aren't exactly soothing.
It seems a contingent of wraiths have descended on the area, and they're not just dangerous for unsuspecting souls and the general populace. The Grimlock family is at risk, too.
If that weren't bad enough, Aisling finds herself inexplicably drawn to Detective Griffin Taylor - the police officer who considers her a murder suspect. Oh, and she's a wraith-magnet - although, truth be told, she's more interested in Detective Taylor.
Aisling is determined to prove that she has what it takes to be a great reaper - even if it means risking her life and proving her father and brothers wrong when it comes to her competence level.
When things finally become clear, will Aisling survive long enough to make things right? Or, will she fall prey to the wraiths and the individual controlling them?

    A fun and exciting read.
I hadn't heard of this before prior to seeing it come up for review, but I loved the sound of it and eagerly started. Well, i'm so happy to say that this was fantastic. Such a fun yet addictive read!
The plot was fast paced and gripping. It centers around a family of reapers who collect the souls on their list. Aisling is the only girl in the family of boys and she never intended to be part of the "family business", yet when she loses her job she has no other choice. She is only on the job a few days when souls that aren't on the lists are being taken, not only that, but some of her souls are been taken! She realises that somw wraiths have entered their territory and are stealing souls. She needs to find out who their master is and stop them before it's too late. During this time, she becomes a suspect in "murders" that keep happening around her. Detective Taylor is intent on finding the culprit but keeps coming back to Aisling Grimlock, how is she involved?
The characters were fantastic!!! I loved every single one of them. Aisling was funny, strong, independent and did I mention funny!!! Jerry is Aislings gay roommate who has the hots for her brother, I adored Jerry!! So fun yet a rock for Aisling. The Grimlock brothers were all amazing too, each of them were so protective of Aisling and would do anything for each other. The enigmatic Detective Taylor was a surprise love interest for Aisling, yet it works well. I loved the dynamics between them and look forward to seeing where their relationship goes.
Anyway, this was such a fun and snarky book. I found myself giggling and snickering a lot and ended up listening to it within 2 days.

'I didn't realize he was a werewolf at first. My nose isn't at its best when surrounded by axle grease and burnt oil....'
Mercedes Thompson runs a garage in the Tri-Cities. She's a mechanic, and a damn good one, who spends her spare time karate training and tinkering with a VW bus that happens to belong to a vampire. Her next-door neighbour is an alpha werewolf - literally, the leader of the pack. And Mercy herself is a shapeshifter, sister to coyotes. As such, she's tolerated by the 'wolves but definitely down the pecking order. As long as she keeps her eyes down and remembers her place, the pack will leave her in peace.

    I love this book!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It's on of my all-time favourite authors!
What other book might you compare Moon Called to and why?
Sandy Williams "The shadow reader". Both are great stories, intriguing characters, good dialog, a mix between action and romance.
Which character as performed by Lorelei King was your favorite?
    Mercy!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Just that I kind of fell in love with Adam a little bit...
    Any additional comments?
    Read it!!
Brilliant story but narrator was confusing
Loved this as a book but the narrator confused me. All sterotypes and little difference between certain character voices.
    okayish story...
it was an okay novel.. may be the author was building up a plot for future books but in itself..not bad at best
    Loved it
I love this book so much I now have it in hardback, kindle and audio it is one of my favourites as you can see. Lorelei King really brought the story to life fabulous job. Overall no way will I be returning a book that is not only written by a great storyteller but read by a fabulous narrator.
Very enjoyable book very well narrated
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - it has a good story, the principle character is very likeable and the narration is excellent
What other book might you compare Moon Called to, and why?
Its in the same lines as the Sookie Stackhouse ( but without the sex) and Jane Yellowrock ( our heroine is also a shifter ) stories. It is set in our world but where Vampires and Werewolves and other Fey characters are very active. There are some subtle differences and the Werewolves have a bigger role than Vampires in this book - bit of a hint in the title there. If you like the Stackhouse/Yellowrock books you will probably like this
Have you listened to any of Lorelei Kings other performances? How does this one compare?
Not yet but I will and hope she is as good in those
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Made me laugh in a few places
    Any additional comments?
Enjoyed it and will be downloading the next book in the series soon

When Daniel was 12, he watched Sebastian die at the hands of the Hierarch of Southern California, devoured for the heightened magic layered deep within his bones.
Now, years later, Daniel is a petty thief with a forged identity. Hiding amid the crowds in Los Angeles - the capital of the Kingdom of Southern California - Daniel is trying to go straight. New world with great potential
What made the experience of listening to California Bones the most enjoyable?
The new magic world, it's creative and incredibly interesting. Also who doesn't love a heist story?
What was one of the most memorable moments of California Bones?
The beginning was very captivating, immediately have to know what the hell is going on and why the Dad is doing that.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and it was worth the time spent. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series. I do hope there is more character depth, the narrative is a little too distant and I wish it went more into first person narrative and motivations. However this allows for more intrigue so while I miss the depth, the style does add something new to the book.
    Any additional comments?
It reminded me of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn and Reckoner series. Most likely because it's a completely new world and magic system, but it has a few qualities that I love when reading Sanderson.
an other great read thanks to Sword & Laser.
Easy read, great audio book. can't wait for the next book in this universe to come out.

    Worst narrater ever!
Awful reading!!! No emotion, repeated sentences several times. Very bland!! Worst narration I have ever heard.
Elena POV as she steps into her power as Alpha and Mother
If it wasn't for the narrator I would have loved this more. I always appreciate how Armstrong describes the internal turmoil of dealing with high stress life and death situations. She slows the action down so you can understand characters motivations and calculations. A parents anxiety about losing a child provides great tension and you can see how her thinking and actions are impacted. Not enough interplay with other characters and the humor and banter missing. Elena is clever and quick typically so I missed her sarcasm. Te narrator didn't get the voices right. Adam sounded like he was on valium and clay's IQ sounded lower than his shoe size. I love clay so this disturbed me!
    great story, terrible sound
I've listened to hundreds of audio books, this is the first that sounds so terrible and tinny. sounds as if it was recorded in a cheap recording system.
    Good book. Awful recording.
Love the Otherworld series, and this was a nice addition. However, the sound quality was simply awful. It was as if the entire book was recorded through a tin can and a string. Thankfully it was a short book. If I didn't enjoy the series so much, I don't think I would have continued listening. It was that off-putting.
    I........almost......didnt......make.....it....
I have listened to every single audiobook available in the other World Series and this narrator was the second worst narrator, (The one that narrated Stolen was definitely the worst. If you want female Captain Kirk reading you a story then this narrator is for you. She was so monotone it was ridiculous, she sounded like she was recording it from her bathroom, she paused for three seconds between each word practically throughout the entire book on top of that this is the first book in the entire series where the narrator repeated lines. I guess the only good thing I can say about her narration is that she got the pronunciations of the names correct. The book its self is another gem by Kelly Armstrong although Some of it didnt seem as though she was being true to how the characters were in previous books. WARNING SPOILERS!!!! Elana snapping at Jeremy and getting angry with him for asking her daughter questions.

This book makes my heart sing, as do all of Deborah Geary's books. I know it's the next- to- last book about these characters, and I am sad to think I will lose track of them. What a crazy ride! This book didn't go where you might expect and I can't wait for more! Can't. Wait.
    Awesome book
All of the books in this series were outstanding. Each book exceeds the next book. Diana Rowland outdid herself in each book that she wrote. Liv Anderson did an excellent job of narrating this series. Liv made the characters come to life. I would recommend for you to listen to all of Diana Roland books in this series.

In the aftermath of the mysterious death of their lead singer, the young members of a now-legendary British acid folk band hole up at Wylding Hall, an ancient English country house with its own dark secrets. There they record Wylding Hall, the album that makes their reputation - but at a terrifying cost when Julian Blake, their new lead singer, disappears within the mansion and is never seen again.
Now, years later, the surviving musicians and their friends and lovers - including a psychic, a photographer, and the band's manager - meet with a young documentary filmmaker to tell their own versions of what happened during that summer. But whose story is the true one? And what really happened to Julian Blake?
    Members Reviews:
    Spooky, short, and fun
Modern documentary style novel. Involves fictional characters from 70's folk music scene staying in a creepy old house. I enjoyed the writing, narration, and production.
    Excellent listen
Very interesting. I loved the format. Fresh take on a great theme! Definitely recommend this story.
Excellent Traditional Spooky Old House Yarn
I listened to music from this era often and happily, and the capture of the moment stitched in with a deft spooky tale (told nonsequentially and expertly) kept my attention with rare spirit. What a fine piece of work! Like an old Rolling Stone oral history combined with a Diana Rigg ghost story.
    Atmospheric English Folk Horror
Really my only complaint about this book is that it's too short. Its themes are very reminiscent of the English Folk Horror films of the 1970s like Blood on Satan's Claw and the Whicker Man. The story is set over one hot summer in the early 70s. An almost famous folk band are sent to stay in an ancient manor house deep in the countryside to write their second album. The sense of time and place is very believable as is the dynamic between the band members - at least to a non-musician like me. It really made me want to listen to the legendary album they create! The story is told in the present day so all the narrators are potentially unreliable given the distance of time and the alcohol and drugs they were consuming at Wylding Hall. No one has the full story and we can only piece together what happened from the subjective views of each character. There aren't really any shocks or big scares but instead a pervasive atmosphere of something not being quite right. Odd things happen and are never really explained so if you get frustrated by stories that lack a big denouement and exposition you might not like this very much.
As you can see it's quite short; more of a novella and probably one to get if you have a few spare credits. I would listen to it on a hot summer day - ideally sitting outside under a tree. Just watch out for the wrens.
The narrators are uniformly excellent. Having a different actor for each part really adds to the experience of listening to the book.
I've only read one other book by Elizabeth Hand and going by this I wish there was more of her work available on audio.

    Great story, great narration
Where does Rebel Fay rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This is one of the best books in the series and I have loved all of them.
What did you like best about this story?
When I saw there was a whole series based on Win as the main character, I thought, really? she is so annoying even as a minor character. In this book, she really emerges to shine as a solid character -- which was certainly purposeful as at the moment I found I now liked Win, a character commented how much she had grown from when she first joined the group
    Any additional comments?
Love this narrator. Her style is very easy to listen to so the story is your focus, not the irritating tics or failure to have a consistent pronunciation of names. I even went to look for what else she narrated for shopping ideas

    Publisher's Summary:
Daniel Faust, Las Vegas sorcerer and career criminal, has never pulled the trigger on an innocent man. When the infernal Prince Sitri challenges him to do just that, though, he can't walk away. His lover, Caitlin, is Sitri's right hand... and if Daniel refuses the job, he'll never see her again.
While Daniel works to unravel Sitri's twisted game, putting his principles and his life on the line, Caitlin has problems of her own. A pack of renegade half-bloods are in town, armed to the teeth and aiming to go to war with hell itself. Their leader is a bad memory from Caitlin's past, one she thought dead and buried centuries ago, and he's got revenge on his mind.
As if that isn't bad enough, the fallout from Daniel's last job descends in the form of an FBI task force, aimed at putting him and everyone he cares about behind bars. The feds have a magician of their own, one who knows all of Daniel's dirty little secrets. Throw in a mythical road map to hell and the ghost of a 15th-century serial killer, and the stage is set for a deadly collision.
Sitri's games are never what they seem. Everything is connected. If Daniel and Caitlin can't solve the puzzle in time, the consequences will tear them apart forever.

    Fun and keeps you guessing
This is the second book in this series. If you liked the first book you will like this one as well. I really enjoyed this book and the series as a whole. I only have two minor complaints.
First, more Caitlin would have been nice. I understand the reasoning but the author needs to have more developed supporting characters in his stories and she's about the only major character in the book other than the protagonist.
Second, the series is most definitely low magic in nature. I don't mind that, but I would like to see the main character use his magic more. There were reasons for this as well, but it was the same in the first book so I am sensing a pattern here. It would be nice to see what the guy is really capable of doing. Also, while he is doing a great job of describing infernal issues and politics we really have no good explantaion as to how magic works in this world and what it can do. I am hoping he explores these issues in more detail in future books.
Other than that this is a great series and lots of fun to read. This is very dark, adult story so leave the kiddies at home for this one. This is much closer to a Mike Hammer protagonist than a Harry Dresden and that is good. The main character is more real, flawed and interesting than alot of the more recent batch of heroes in current urban fantasy novels. I like a small number of pop culture references but some series are getting out of hand. Mr Schaefer avoids this and some of the more cutesy items you see in other series. Good for him as it helps the reader focus more on the characters and what is happening.
The best part is this book has a lot of twists and turns to it. I read alot so often the plot of a book is clearly evident and you know where things are going to end up. It is nice to have a book that keeps you a bit more off balance. While this book does stand alone you will definitely benefit from checking out the previous book first if you haven't already done so. This one is worth a credit for certain.
    Excellent Continuation of the Series
This was an excellent follow up to the first book in this series.
