    Publisher's Summary:
Young librarian Samantha Watkins has always been perfectly content with her humdrum existence. Never easily fitting in with anyone anywhere, she feels most at ease in silence, among stacks of books. Sam believes in leaving fantasy and drama to the characters in her beloved novels. But one night when she leaves work late, she finds herself center stage in a tale of vengeance and terror.
Samantha is rescued from a gang of vampires by Phoenix, a mysterious and otherworldly man. Suddenly her paranormal adventures take a far more extraordinary turn than any story she's ever read. Phoenix, her savior, is actually a vampire as well, tasked with stopping his peers from killing. With no possibility of returning to her former life, Sam becomes his assistant. Together they investigate a series of mysterious disappearances and attempt to save the human race from a horrible fate. Battling vampires thrills and empowers Sam, but where does she stand with supernatural Phoenix? Could Phoenix, through their work together, become a different man?

    Outstanding Supernatural Tale
I very much like how this story unfolds. This book is written in French, then translated into English. The follow-on books are written, but have not yet been translated. The story opens with a misfit librarian, Samantha Watkins, gets mixed up with a vampire. This story is about two people getting to know each other. The plot line has to do with a group of rouge vampires causing serious trouble. Samantha (Human Heroine) and Phoenix (the male Vampire Hero) have to not only navigate their relationship, but his acquaintances and his bosses, yet has to take down their enemies or be faced with their own execution.
This is a THRILLER-romance. You will like this if you like supernatural characters and want a more cerebral story. Amy McFadden does a fabulous job narrating. I salute Stacey Battis for translating this. You cannot tell it was originally written in French.
I recommend this novel, you won't be able to stop listening. I can't wait till the next installment is released. Give it read.
    Help! where's the next book?!
come on.. you can't have a book end like that and not have the next in the series at least translated! please make the next books available.
    Compelling But Flawed
    Any additional comments?
Translated from the French, this is only the first volume available in English. There appears to be 4 books in the series but none of the rest have been translated.
I found the story line pretty compelling even though the language was a little stilted. Part of it had to do with the fact that it's narrated by a naive, lonely librarian. But I think part of it was the translation. That being said, I was drawn into the story of Samantha and Phoenix.
One note: the narrator actually screams when Samantha screams in the story. It's pretty disturbing to hear.
The novel ends with a cliff hanger and without the English version of the 2nd book in the series, we're all left hanging! If given the choice, I think I might've waited for the 2nd book to be available before I listened to this one.
    Please translate next book
Please translate next books as I'd love to know the story ending.

    Publisher's Summary:
Manhattan has many secrets. Some are older than the city itself.
The city sleeps. Selene DiSilva walks her dog along the banks of the Hudson. She is alone - just the way she likes it. She doesn't believe in friends, and she doesn't speak to her family. Most of them are simply too dangerous.
In the predawn calm, Selene finds the body of a young woman washed ashore, gruesomely mutilated and wreathed in laurel. Her ancient rage returns. And so does the memory of a promise she made long ago - when her name was Artemis.
    Critic Reviews:
"The Immortals is a lively re-imagining of classical mythology with an engaging premise, a page-turning plot, and an eye for the arresting and uncanny in contemporary urban life." (Deborah Harkness, New York Times best-selling author of A Discovery of Witches)

Restarted 3 times and still couldn't get into it
What was most disappointing about Jordanna Max Brodskys story?
The story jumped from point of view to point of view and there was such a disconnect between the narrators, it made getting into the story difficult.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jordanna Max Brodsky and Robert Petkoff ?
Robert Petkoff was fine as a narrator but something about Jordanna Max Brodsky didn't work. I don't know if she was trying to give the character an accent or trying to do a "dramatic" performance. It just didn't work.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The mythology aspect of the story was interesting but not enough to get past the poor narration.
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This book brought me through a whole range of emotions, while brilliantly weaving myth together with history, romance, crime fighting, mystery and overall badassness. I would recommend this book to anyone, even those without any background in classical mythology. I barely knew who Artemis was when I opened this book - a great story is a great story! The performers on this audiobook are marvelous, and bring life to every character.
    Not what I was expecting.
What did you love best about The Immortals?
The Narrators and learning about Greek Mythology.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I loved the acknowledgements at the end. She gave credit where credit was due.
Have you listened to any of Jordanna Max Brodsky and Robert Petkoff s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first by Jordanna Brodsky, she did excellent job narrating. Robert Petkoff is the BOMB!! In fact, I purchased this book because I searched specifically for his name as narrator. He did not disappoint! He could read anything and make it interesting. He's my favorite by far!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    No.
    Well done.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it is well written and involves subject matter that I and many of my friends find interesting.
What did you like best about this story?
The way the author phrases things gives it the ring of myth or prophesy.

    Fun Series
    Any additional comments?
This is a fun series with interesting characters. Story is decent, not over done, but suits the characters really well. Lots of snarky humor with a great narration.
    Fun and entertaining
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bigfootloose and Finn Fancy Free?
All of the fight scenes are superbly written and preformed, but the dance off is one of the funniest scenes I've ever heard.
What about Todd Haberkorns performance did you like?
His ability to add to the story with the distinct characterizations he chose.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Love for Bigfoot or bust.
    Any additional comments?
As good as the first book in the series.
    Conflicted Greatness
I really enjoy this series. It is a series that I look forward to listening to. Plenty of magic, controversy, imperfect protagonist, dysfunctional family. It's an every day Joe living in a magical world who got screwed over with false imprisonment. Finn. Self destructive under achiever with a big heart and never give up attitude. Mort. The brother whose leg you just want to pee on. Most people should be able to identify with most aspects of this story.
However, a few issues: gratuitous sex (not much, but unnecessary, could have been made known in a better way), unnecessary taking of God's name in vain (what would happen if it were Allah? It would cause a lot of offense and be removed). And Dawn went from being a STRONG black woman in the 1st book to being a whining, ignorant sounding valley girl in this book. I liked the narrator's voicing of most of the characters in this book but winced every time he voiced Dawn. What happened? Why the change?
Overall it is worth the listen but could have been better.
    Looking forward to number 3.
This was an excellent second installment of a fun new series. The performance was equally good, but I did have one issue with it. In the first book, the narrator voiced Dawn as a strong and confident black woman and it fit the character perfectly. However, in this story, the narrator changes Dawn's voice to something you would expect from a perky teenage girl, not a strong fortyish black woman.

Jim C. Hines is a master of fantasy
Praying that it's not true that this is the final installment in the magic ex libris series. I need more of these characters!

    Gave up 2/3 through
I ended up quitting the book... It just felt pieced together to me. It's like the author didn't have a great idea, so they took pieces of other stories and tried to make them fit together to make something new. It didn't work for me. I kept wondering when it would get better or be over, so I just stopped.
There's almost a batman feel to it - the beginning is set when the girl is 9 years old, then 13, then 18. Her parents are killed in front of her. She wants revenge, gets a secret identity, trains with new skills and joins a rebel group while still pretending to fit in with main society. Her grandfather tells her she's rich from inheritance and she has a secret base of operations. Her best friend/crush interacts with her normal and secret identities, but doesn't realize they are both her. She is young but tries to act like she is much older and has all the answers. Makes promises she can't keep. She is too presumptuous.
There are nephilim in the story. They are supposed to be children of angels and humans, but they nephilim can also turn humans into them, which doesn't make much sense to me. They have fangs and drink blood to survive. Vampires?
    loved it but
sometimes the voices changed who they were supposed to be and it didn't make sense. but it was overall good. it's another post apocalyptic novel.
    Good, but ...
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'd recommend it but I'm afraid we'll not get anymore in the series because the authors changed the primary character in book 3 forcing a different narrator, different voice, etc. Bad form in my opinion.
    Good
I usually don't read young adult and was upset at first that amazon did not clarify or have just a young adult romance section because I hate skimming through those to find a decent adult romance, however, I was not disappointed even though there was no "romance" the story was intriguing but I don't understand why it was in romance section since there was no romance just more of a paranormal fiction
    wow.
This was a great story! I didn't find it predictable in the least. the narrator was perfect. I definitely recommend this book.

    Another swoon-worthy listen
The Shadow is a passionate and complex story, filled with romance, art, history and suspense. William and Raven are reunited again and the Prince will stop at nothing to protect her all while battling forces that are trying to sabotage him and his rule over Florence. I absolutely loved this 2nd installment of The Florentine Series even though it was a little slow in the middle. We finally get to learn how William came to be and the tragedy of how he lost his first love. The last part of the book was filled with lots of heart pounding action and of course it ends in a bit of a cliffhanger. I cant wait for the next book.
    Another stinking cliffhanger!!!
I've had it with authors that write trilogies. I waited for this book to be released before purchasing it and it's predecessor, The Raven. Now I have to wait around while the author continues the story in yet another book. I think this is just a BS way for greedy authors to make more money. From this point forward, if a book can't be read as a standalone, I'm not interested!
    Magnificent !!
What made the experience of listening to The Shadow the most enjoyable?
This audiobook is great . Usually when I purchase a new book , I listen and read at the same time. After that I just listen. The history and excellent sub plots are six stars. I would read too fast and would pause to allow audio book to caugh up. Prince not as unreasonable as in RAVEN, he is almost kind. I need to go back to Florence.
    Any additional comments?
A must read. Great follow up to Raven.
    Nice Twist to the Story
Such a talented writer. Especially enjoyed the last few chapters. The narrator's voice for William is so sexy.
    Take me away
First lets start by saying John Michael Morgan is an excellent narrator I wish he would have done all of the books. The storyline was excellent the supporting cast was great the characters were wonderful I really enjoyed the authors version of the prince.

    Great series!
Love this series burned thru 1, 2, and 3 it in a weekend shame on me! Lana Harvey and friends never have a dull moment.
    Best yet!
This is the best story ever. More about the characters and less on the theological / mythology references. I enjoy that she has kinda of settled down sexually. That leaves room for other plot stories.
    Best in the series
    Any additional comments?
First off, Hollie Jackson is phenomenal and perfect for this series. This is, IMHO, the best installment in the series. The storyline works better, I thought the first two were a little choppy, and the main character seems more grown up (she is centuries old) while maintaining a good sense of humor. Looking forward to the next!
    fun and enjoyable
the performance was well done and the story engaging and fun. my only complaint is it was over to soon.
    Fun installation in the series.
As with the first two installation, this book was not a disappointment. It was funny, original and darn. All good things as far as I am concerned. I really enjoyed the context and story line. The only down was the culminating crisis scene. I was disappointed with it. I felt as if it was rushed and not well fleshed out. But still a book I enjoyed. I can't wait for the next installation.

Evalle, Storm and the Beladors are Back!
Witchlock is another great action packed addition to the Belador series! I really liked this series takes place in Georgia, (being a native and all :-). The opening with Evalle fighting a demon on top of Stone Mountain, and her mate, Storm, coming to her rescue was awesome.
I originally started this series because of the collaboration with Sherrilyn Kenyon. I loved her Dark Hunters, and League series so much, I had to give this series a try. However, I really like the direction Dianna Love has taken the Belador series.
If you have not listened to the other books in the series, it is best to be start at the beginning. The characters and plot are develop with each book and is told from multiple POV's; however, Evalle and Storm are usually the main focus. The series is full of great characters like Tzader and Quinn who are Evalle's best friends, and her pet Gargoyle eats the craziest stuff.
Each book is packed with action, suspense, and some serious battles, but along the way there are also some betrayals, and heartaches.
These are great stories that are both worth the credit and time!
    Happy Listening!
    Too much relationship stuff
I do not like the explicit sex dialogue. Every male female interaction had sexual overtones for no reason. Started slow but the story had promise though hard to follow in audio. I had to replay often. Two books is too long to leave Zator and Quinn issues unresolved unless the witch lock plays a significant role in their episodes. The ending was better than the Gryphon book. I'll stick with it one more book but this series is losing me.

    Great Book #4
Love this series. I haven't read one in this series in several months, but it was easy to pick up the story where the last book left off. There is enough mention of previous events to bring me back in line. Pippa is an excellent author. She does a great job with the story line and the characters. The narrator does a great job as well.
EXCELLENT. GOOD PLOT AND ACTION PACKED.
Most enjoyable. Muse is still going strong helping the humans from the bad demons. Fast paced and full of intrigues. Muse is still struggling with her love for Stefan and her emotional ties with Akil . A very heartbreaking choice for her. Adam and the institute is are still trying to rid Boston of demons and the battle was terrific. I am looking forward to the conclusion in the next book. Pippa DaCosta is an excellent writer and Hollie Jackson narrated/performed the book very well.
I was lost in this book!
I can't get enough of these books. off to buy book #5 I am a fan girl and it is glorious.
    Interesting story line
I was intrigued by the story line and characters. The primary character is a bit winey but overall interesting. I enjoyed the interplay between her and the various characters. The idea that our world and hell are only a veil apart was intriguing. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories. Luckily all five are now available. Onward to the next.
    Sleeper Series. That is outstanding
Can you say marathon. I could not sleep without these books. I spent every moment trying to see what was going to happen next. I felt confused and conflicted as the characters. I agreed and disagreed with there decisions at the same time. Finally, it is my believe that any book that brings you in so completely that you are dripping tears for the characters lost is excellent. It speaks to a job well done. This was indeed a great series. And this is a great book. I want everyone to read it so we can discuss it.

    Publisher's Summary:
St. Louis in 1880 is full of ghosts - mangled soldiers, tortured slaves, the innocent victims of war - and Jacob Tracy can see them all. Ever since Antietam, when he lay delirious among the dead and dying, Trace has been haunted by the country's restless spirits. The curse cost him his family, his calling to the church, and damn near his sanity.
He stays out of ghost-populated cities as much as possible these days, guiding wagon trains west with his pragmatic and skeptical partner, Boz. Then, just before the spring rush, Trace gets a letter from the wealthy and reclusive Sabine Fairweather. Sickly, sharp tongued, and far too clever for her own good, Miss Fairweather needs a worthy man to retrieve a dead friend's legacy from a nearby town - or so she says. When the errand proves far more sinister than advertised, Miss Fairweather admits to knowing about Trace's curse and suggests she might be able to help him - in exchange for a few more odd jobs.
Trace has no interest in being her pet psychic, but he's been searching 18 years for a way to curb his unruly curse, and Miss Fairweather's knowledge of the spirit world is too tempting to ignore. As she steers him into one macabre situation after another, his powers flourish, and Trace begins to realize some good might be done with this curse of his. But Miss Fairweather is harboring some dark secrets of her own, and her meddling has brought Trace to the attention of something much older and more dangerous than any ghost.
Rich in historical detail and emotional depth, The Curse of Jacob Tracy is a fast-paced and inventive debut, an intriguing introduction to a bold new hero.

    Supernatural meets old West.
    Any additional comments?
I enjoyed listening to this book and it did make the time at work go by very quickly; however, that being said there is nothing new here. This is supernatural monster hunting set in the old west. All of the usual suspects are there as well as the usual solutions. What makes this a good read or 'listen' is the great friendship and camaraderie between the two main characters. It's obvious this is the first of a series and if the second is as fun a listen as the first I look forward to it.
    Innovative, Original and Interesting
What made the experience of listening to The Curse of Jacob Tracy the most enjoyable?
Jacob Tracy is a believable character that is confronted with his internal demons. He is rough and tough, like a western sheriff, but tender with women and children. His story is compelling and well worth your attention. It is written in terms of his time, with no politically correct slanting. That takes courage and I applaud the writer.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Curse of Jacob Tracy?
I like the parts where Jacob starts to accept his visions and comes to terms with his faith
What about L. J. Gansers performance did you like?
Great diction, clear and concise. Enough emotion when needed. Very pleasant performance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wish I could do that.
    Any additional comments?
I look forward to his further adventures
    Book 2 PLEASE!!!
Loved this book! Good solid writing style. Narrator was excellent in his delivery and did a great job with different accents. The story line was exciting and unique. It kept my interest to the very end and made me wishing it hadn't ended.
