Night is falling on Boston's Caulborn. Will they survive to see the dawn?
    Members Reviews:
    GOOD CONTINUATION.!
Excellent storyline. Vincent Corinthos and his team of the Caulborn group as usual work valiantly to help the people. The vampires are also being threatened by a really super vampire who eats souls. There were some losses in the team. It would be interesting to see what comes next in the next book.
If you like Iron Druid, give this series a listen!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
In a New York minute! Between the action-oriented plot, interesting set of characters, and fantastic narrator (Ian McEuen), this book has it all. Caution: To those who are new to the series, it may not be the best place to starting point. To best appreciate the series, I recommend beginning with book one: Imperium. In fact, after listening to the first chapter, I stopped myself and went back to listen to book 4 (Fractures) to refresh myself on recent events in the Caulborn universe. (Trust me, it wasnt a hardship Nicholas Olivos entire Caulborn series is a fantastic read and Ian McEuens voice performance is a pleasure to hear.)
What did you like best about this story?
This book is a game changer for Vincent Corinthos the series is taking a decidedly darker, more serious tone with deadly prophecies brewing in the background. Vincent (the hero who narrates the series) has been maturing and growing through the series, but really takes a huge stride forward in this book in his character development--learning to look before he leaps and considering consequences of his actions.
What about Ian McEuens performance did you like?
Whats not to like about Ian McEuens performance! The energy and enthusiasm (complete with distinct character voices and accents) he brings to his performance reminds me of Luke Daniels, a favorite Audible narrator who is the voice of the Iron Druid series. Trust me, if you like Luke Daniels, youll love Ian McEuen.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely. I liked it so much, that as soon as I finished it the first time, I replayed it a second time. With a couple exceptions (ex: Dresden Files, Iron Druid) there arent many audiobooks I am a repeat listener of, but the Caulborn series is one of them. The author and narrator combined are just THAT good.
    Any additional comments?
Ive fallen in love with the Caulborn series. Nicholas Olivo has managed to come up with an interesting take to the urban fantasy genre, which has become rather crowded and trite.
    Awesome Listen
This is a amazing series! I wish the next book was out already! Well worth the listen!
Finally get to see what some of the other can do in this book!!!

Good story, but narration could use some work
The story is great and I'm waiting on the next one, eagerly. It's a little obvious with what is going on, but it's different and I'm interested in where the story is going.
The narrator is irritating. First, where ever in the world this story is set, it is not in America, or any alternative of it. There are phrases, and words used that are obviously not American, yet the narrator uses an American accent. It should be something like English, or something, but not American.
Second, the word Apollo is mispronounced as A-PO-lo all the way through the book. Explain to me, please, what adult person doesn't know how to pronounce Apollo. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but if speaking is your job, you should know how to pronounce everyday words, like say, the Greek god of the sun... Apollo.
Other than the irritating narrative quirks though, it's good. If you can overlook those things, then the listen won't be too bad. And like I said, the story is worth the cringe.
Looking forward to the next one. I really want to know why she doesn't remember who she is. I mean, the clues are not subtle.
    Pretty good
This is a pretty good story. I enjoyed the characters and the world created. The story started out really good but fell apart at the end. I'll read the next one because I really liked the characters.

it was an amazing book it had a lot of amazing charters and I need book 2
    Intriguing
Good story line. Auther did good job. will listen to book 2. Hope it follows and integrates parts of book one.
    Good
Loved the ending. Was a slow start but eventually picked up. Lexi is a mystery but I think it will unfold in each book.

One final contender stands between Claire and claiming the Fallen Throne - but Faith isn't giving up without a fight. Defeating Faith and taking her blood isn't all Claire has to worry about. She must find the last few drops of her own original blood - before the big three usurp her realm and end any chance of her completing the prophecy.
Mace offers a strong shoulder, but as long as Claire aches for the missing Thanos, she can't let herself lean on it.
Meanwhile, the Oracle has emerged from a 500-year hiatus to gleefully fling monkey wrenches into Claire's timeline. Claire loses several hours to one of the hag's schemes, resulting in Faith getting away with the Prince of Time. Which definitely isn't part of the prophecy.
Putting the Time King back together again won't be easy. Even if Claire manages to gather all the parts, nothing fits like it did before. The cracks expose the truth that will change everything...including who'll be the last man standing by Claire's side.

H.D. Smith delivers another fantastic novel
Dark Contender by H.D. Smith is the fourth novel in the Devils Assistant series. Claire, who started as a desk assistant for the Boss/the Devil, is now the unofficial Queen of the fourth (of four) realm, Fallen. Set on fulfilling prophesies and taking official control of her realm, Claire needs to track down the other contender for fulfilling the prophesies and gather all the logistical pieces of the ritual to take over her realm. But the Oracle has returned after hundreds of years and she brings with her a type of time-bending chaos that Claire hasnt dealt with before and for some reason she seems very interested in Claire. Claire and her team must figure out a way to beat the remaining contender and take her realm without being brought down by the machinations of the Oracle and the other power players in the realms.
H.D. Smith delivers another fantastic novel in what appears to be the finale of this series, filled with an exciting story, a really cool world, and great well-developed characters. Its a really complex world that only gets more complicated in this book with the addition of the time manipulating Oracle, but its masterfully done. The story is fast paced and exciting and definitely absorbs the attention of the listener. As with each of the other three novels in the series, there are so many twists and turns as Claire and her team try to figure out not only what is going on around them, but also what to do as they get new information. Its been great watching Claire come into her powers and to see her ability to make decisions and lead grow. Similarly, the relationships that have changed as the story progressed have been really great to read. However, this is not a stand-alone novel to understand what is happening it is necessary to have read the previous books in the series. Overall, this is a great wrap-up novel. Any hanging threads from the last three novels area tied off nicely. The new story of the Oracle and the continuing story of the different prophesies intersect nicely and end in a really satisfying way.
The narration by Lauren Fortgang is excellent as usual. She really brings the characters to life and gives them personality. The production quality of the novel is also great.

Really enjoy all of CJ Archer's series
Really enjoy all of CJ Archer's series. This one -- as all the others -- sets up relationships between characters that continue in some of her other series as well. I also highly recommend her Ministry of Curiosities series and the Watchmaker's Daughter trilogy. They are even better!!!!!!! (But read all her books. Very fun!)
    Intriguing Caricatures
I finished book 2 in the series of Freak House Trilogy. I liked the caricatures introduced in this story, they have made this book more interesting. It was nice to read about the friendship developing between
    Jack + Samuel.
    Not Archer's best effort.
The notion that every author has one book in them resonates here. Ms. Archer does vary elements in her novels but her chief protagonist is invariably a young woman with an unusual (paranormal) ability who is smitten with a young man unable (or unwilling) to interact with her romantically. This relatively early effort lacks the historically accurate details of the Victorian era's daily life that enlivens her later work.
    Four Stars
not quite as interesting at first.
    Meh.....
Two books through, and still very few answers. I think C.J. was inspired by J.K. Rowling and failed.
The love interest is keeping me satisfied enough to raise my rating from 2 stars to 3.

    Publisher's Summary:
The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase, an original audiobook based on the hit television show The Librarians, by New York Times best-selling author Greg Cox.
For millennia the Librarians have secretly protected the world by keeping watch over dangerous magical relics. Cataloging and safeguarding everything from Excalibur to Pandora's box, they stand between humanity and those who would use the relics for evil.
    Stories have power.
In 1719 Elizabeth Goose published a collection of rhyming spells as a children's book, creating a spell book of terrifying power. The Librarian of that age managed to dispose of all copies of the book except one, which remained in the possession of Elizabeth Goose and her family, temporarily averting any potential disaster. Now, strange things are happening around the world. A tree trimmer in Florida is blown off his elevated perch by a freak gust of wind, a woman in rural Pennsylvania is attacked by mutant rodents without any eyes, and a college professor in England finds herself trapped inside a prize pumpkin at a local farmer's market. Baird and her team of Librarians suspect that the magic of Mother Goose is again loose in the world, and with Flynn AWOL - again - it is up to Cassandra, Ezekiel, and Stone to track down the missing spell book before the true power of the rhymes can be unleashed.

    more please!
Narrator really captures the TV actor's identities in delivering. Full of laughs, suspense, and face-paced.
I love how all the characters from the TV show pretty much have at least one chapter of action all to themselves in this one.
I have to say it too, even though it's a slight spoiler.
In a scene with the character Stone there's a line about how to create "leverage." I swear you can almost see the slight pause after he says leverage. He said it just like he did on his old show. ..
I hope there is another soon

The Black Spark is back. He feels so good he talks about himself in third person.
Spark and Kate have been enjoying life in their little home in the country for nine months. Now Rikka has a job for him and Black Spark is back to work, he has been reborn and is stronger than ever. Rikka has a new accountant and wants Sparks opinion. The new account, a troll, depose the previous accountant.
Now we have trolls changing the landscape of the Hiddens to give humanity the best possible chance of survival. But trolls really? Can they really the culprit?
In the haste to solve the troll situation, all species began to have issues and need help right now. To many things are happening, which could precipitate disaster for the whole country not just Rikkas ward of Cardiff.
Zombies are stumbling around attempting to bite humans. They are normally on a reservation. Therefore, Spark is pulled in that direction to contain that situation. What does he find? A troll. There are rumblings pointing to the complicity of witches and gremlins began to speak with eloquence. Through it all Spark questions his haste to return to work and worries about Kate.
Lives are hanging in the balance and Spark must solve the tangled web of deceit and confront the true source of the death and destruction. He is the enforcer and it is his job to keep the peace as Rikka sees it.
From the opening scenes (do not let the evil chicken fool you) to the closing word, this book is fast paced and full of twists and surprises. Each interaction with a friend or foe expands the readers enjoyment in the world of the Hidden.
The voice of Gildart Jackson delivers the dialogue of Line in the self-deprecating manner, which brings the comfort with the familiarity of an old friend.
This is a series, which must be read in order. Many of the relationships and actions of the characters are based on interaction in the previous novels. Unlike many authors, Line has given us characters and a world that expands in depth and breadth with each new novel. He is a consummate writer. His writing does not have the banal, predictable story lines with the prerequisite double entendres. His dialogue is witty, entertaining, and imaginative. Enjoy New Spark.
    Sparks really hates gomes!
    Excellent Ending...
I loved this book! It managed to keep me guessing and then it ended in a way that I am now desperate to read the next book!
    Great
Fast paced and funny. The narration is excellent and the story engages. I listened to the whole thing in one go.

New, from the best-selling author of The Spaceship Next Door!
"I thought I'd miss the world." - Adam the Immortal
Adam is on vacation in an island paradise, with nothing to do and plenty of time to do nothing.
It's exactly what he needed: beautiful weather, beautiful girlfriend, plenty of books to read, and alcohol to drink. Most importantly, either nobody on the island knows who he is, or, nobody cares.
"This probably sounds boring, and maybe it is. It's possible I have no compass to help determine boring, or maybe I have a different threshold than most people. From my perspective, though, the vast majority of human history has been boring, by which I mean nothing happened, and sure, that can be dull. On the other hand, nothing happening includes nobody trying to kill anybody, and specifically, nobody trying to kill me. That's the kind of boring a guy can get behind." - Adam the Immortal
Nothing last forever, though, and that includes the opportunity to do nothing. One day, unwelcome visitors arrive in secret, with impossible knowledge of impossible events, and then the impossible things arrive: a new species.
It's all impossible, especially to the immortal man who thought he'd seen all there was to see in the world. Now, Adam is going to have to figure out what's happening and make things right before he and everyone he loves ends up dead in the hot sun of this island paradise.
Immortal and the Island of Impossible Things is the fourth book in Gene Doucette's acclaimed Immortal novel series, and the start of a new adventure for Adam the Immortal man! Catch up on all that's come before with Immortal, Hellenic Immortal, Immortal at the Edge of the World, and the novellas in The Immortal Chronicles and Immortal Stories: Eve.

    Fun story
Before I selected this series, I read some reviews that provided negative feedback. I was not sure about the selection but since audio allows you to return it, I have it a try. I have not been able to pull away from the series. I love it, it is funny and light and has a great spin to the immortal and fantasy aspect. Some stories are a little far fetched but still entertaining. I do not always need logic, thank goodness.
    Love these books
I love this series with Adam and his adventures. Waiting to see what is going on with Eve.
    Best book in the series
I love the immortal series including the novellas which do not need to be read in any order as the main novels do. The 3rd book in the series was good but to me started to decline just a little or maybe I was just in need of new series since I read all of them in a row. That being said a few months went by and I saw his 4th book in the series came out and am I glad I found it! This book was awesome, it had everything I had come to love about the series!! Adam is funny as always with problems only a 60,000 year old man can have. I love the interplay of all the mythical creatures and how most of the stories humans know are not true. The first 3 books introduced you slowly to all of these creatures. The 4th book now has Adam on an Island filled with all of them as a creature vacation spot.
