I really enjoyed this audiobook. As a teacher myself and lover of Jesus, I was fascinated to hear what Adyashanti, a truly wonderful and clear nondual teacher, had to say about Jesus and his life. Adyashanti beautifully and eloquently explained the metaphorical meaning of the Jesus story and how Jesuss life symbolized the journey of awakening and enlightenment. Throughout the book, Adya deftly wove his understanding of Jesuss teachings and the Jesus story with what Adya himself has been teaching these many years, tying the teachings of Christ with present-day nondual teachings, as only someone like Adya could do. I was impressed with Adyas knowledge of the gospels and, most of all, with the love he has for Jesus and the Christian mystics. Adyas own heart was very apparent in this book. If you are interested in this subject, you will not be disappointed. Adya was courageous in tackling this subject, but his interest in Jesus has obviously been lifelong and passionate enough to make him just the right instrument for it.

I should have read the small print.

What made the experience of listening to The Last Days of Jesus the most enjoyable?

This is a story I can never grow tired of hearing about. Though you should just buy the whole book. (I didnt read the small print that this was an excerpt of a full book that I had already purchased and listened to.) However, it was worth listening to again.

How Christ used different methods to show and teach His point.

Not bad

Overall, Bill O'Reilly does a reasonably good job on the "last days" of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Much like his previous book "Killing Jesus". O'Reilly walks people quickly through the early life of Jesus and slows down to more fully cover His last days. Again, like his previous book, I disagreed with some of his interpretation of events, but overall he does a fair job. If you read Killing Jesus, you can probably skip this one. Edward Herrmann was a great choice for narrator and does a wonderful job.

I've not read any of O'Reilly's previous books. They seem to be consistently well received and I've been curious, but I didn't know exactly what to expect ... how much of the book would be about the subject, and how much of it about the author. Any concerns I had about the author possibly challenging history and presenting a strongly biased personal point of view were unwarranted. At just 4 hours, the story moves along at a good pace, in line with the known history, and holds your interest. And therein lies it strength...and its weakness. O'Reilly doesn't present us with anything we didn't already know.

Dealing with history, there are the facts, then there is everything else: conjecture, speculation, the mythos, and legend. How does O'Reilly know that John the Baptist felt no pain when he was beheaded? I suppose the author's speculation is forgivable, and embellishing the history with those tiny bits of fiction keep the story immediate and relatable. He gives a good overall view of the political pulse as the events proceed from Jesus' birth up to his crucifixion. Having the story told in that context affords the listener an interesting view of the history. I can't compare this to his other books; I thought this was well written, interesting, and a worthy presentation of the history...with a well-timed publication date. I've read more in-depth books about the life and death of Jesus, more academic, and may have been expecting a little more from O'Reilly only because I was unfamiliar with his writing.

Amazing audiobook!!!!

What made the experience of listening to Life Is Worth Living, Part 1 the most enjoyable?

He is a great teacher very articulate and poetic and I've learned more about the Catholic faith then I ever knew and not just the Catholic faith. You don't have to be catholic to read this I'm not. I learned a lot about God in general. What a wonderful man he was God truly blessed this man with a gift to teach.

Everything but I liked how he explained the veneration to Mary and why the Catholic Church honors her.

ArchBishop Fulton Sheen has enlightened me to so many things that I thought I knew, yet I really did not. He showed me that despite our human ways, we are so loved by God. ArchBishop is one of my earthly heroes.

Wonderful

Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen has long been a favorite apologist/evangelist of mine. I remember watching him every week on tv when I was a young child. He was humorous, theatrical, entertaining, and taught the truths of the faith. I remember him always at his chalkboard and he never began writing until he first wrote the initials: JMJ, for Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. He was a wonderfully gifted orator. This is a great collection of his talks, which he always gave without a written script! Magnificent!

Bishop Sheen has a unique perspective and a unique delivery. All people, Catholics and non-Catholics can learn from this set of lessons on life. Try it, you'll like it!

Accessible yet Profound

I found this book to be very helpful in deepening my understanding of the New Testament. It gives the reader a glimpse into the perspective of Jesus' Jewish contemporaries. There were many aha moments were texts I've read hundreds of times suddenly took on a new meaning and many times were passages I had never understood suddenly made sense. I'm going to buy the book to go through with my wife. Highly recommend.

Yes, this book will open your eyes to Jesus' actions in far more detail than anything else you've read or heard. We tend to hear Jesus say he is the Bridegroom and then tune him out as I don't understand that. You'll love it and will learn so much.

I liked how the author goes into great detail in each of the Gospel stories relating to Jesus being the Bridegroom. He includes texts from the Bible, Talmud and other Jewish sources.

The narrator does a great job reading the text. He's not flat or boring.

Comforting

At first, I found it uncanny that the author's experience as a Mormon woman, raising a Mormon family in Utah, was so like my own - even in the details. But then I realized: she is describing every Mormon woman who eventually comes to think outside the conditioned box. Her writing is easy and enjoyable, and as a narrator she is very good, too.

This family is amazing

The Wilder family story has true insight of what it is like to be a faithful Mormon living in Utah. Lynn Wilder's new love for Jesus is truly an inspiration.

This book was a remarkable book that was very well written and kept my attention through out the entire book. the personal testimony of the author was more a story form as well as educational.

Recommend this book highly for those seeking to understand Mormonism. This is particularly good if you thought that Mormons understood Grace and the truth of their beliefs that they have to work and live by the Mormon guidelines in order to enter into eternity and become gods. They do not believe that the Grace of God and Jesus dying paid the entire price for our salvation.

Very Enlightening...

I love her story. Its quite entertaining and keeps my attention, but most of all i love this book because before i read it, i thought Mormonism and Christianity were basically the same. Boy was i wrong! I recommend this book mostly to my fellow Christian brothers and sisters, as it is quite useful to become more understanding towards mormons, and useful to gain the knowledge of the gospel, necessary to show any mormons, why what we (Christians) believe, is different from what they Mormons believe. Get. This. Book!

Life changing explanations. . .

Timothy Keller has taken my understanding of the life and finished work of JESUS CHRIST to an entirely different level. . .I am deeply grateful for the way Mr. Keller has allowed GOD to use his life and writing to bring much glory to the LORD.

I discovered this book just at the right time!

I am at a stage in my spiritual walk where I am dealing with belief, trust, ego, doubt and what they mean. I have never received an understanding of the scriptures like this book opened me up to. I have never had as meaningful an encounter of the nature of Jesus, as I did from this book. There is so beauty in the bible prose, so many layers of absolute meaningful symbolisms and truths that I am now aware of!

Thanks Tim Keller for writing this book. Thanks to the narrator for doing such a good job! And thank you God for the line of writers you inspire and give revelation to. I see the place you are bringing me to and I'll keep pressing on!

This is a great book for Believers and unbelievers alike. Whether you are a Christian or not you should read Timothy Keller's Encounters With Jesus.

Very deep

What made the experience of listening to Encounters with Jesus the most enjoyable?

Lloyd James was an excellent narrator, making the author's intent very clear. Keller's writing is crisp and gets to the points quickly with little fanfare, yet thoroughly lays out the foundation for his perspective. It's plain to me he's done his homework well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Encounters with Jesus?

When Keller made clear the real role of the Holy Spirit as the "Second Advocate" and explaining clearly Jesus's role as the First Advocate and how the two Advocate roles are interconnected to make bring me to a spiritual bonding with God.

What does Lloyd James bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

He is accurate and vocally clear, while bringing a sense of ownership and empathy to his role as narrator.

Life Changing

This book is life changing. I had seen Jeff's videos, and knew that he was on to something different than what I had learned growing up in a Christian home/Christian schools. I have always felt like I needed to "get right with God" before I could really be a Christian and "get into heaven". It was always about not having sex, not drinking, not cussing, etc. --and I was never good enough. Jeff's simple way of explaining the grace of God has completely changed the way I see God and how I want to live my life. I will continue to listen to this book over and over, it has sparked a new desire within me to seek God.

A must listen for all people.

This book is a breakthrough in Christian living books. I know it changed my life and saved my beliefs. I was looking at Christianity all wrong. It's not what you can do for Christ, it's what He did for you. You only need one thing on your heavenly resume and that is "I believe". If you've been a follower of Christ all your life or two minutes, listen to this book. If you don't believe in Christ, listen to this book. If you are a monkey riding a unicycle juggling bananas, listen to this book.

What did you love best about Jesus > Religion?

His purposeful and unashamed portrayal of grace and the Gospel were riveting. After Jefferson Bethke came and spoke at Liberty University this past fall semester (fall 2013), I HAD to get his book. Truthfully, I bought this audiobook after reading the actual book, which was the first book I had read for pleasure in years, and I read the whole thing in less than two days (during the hectic beginning of my first semester of college)!

I now know what the phrase "couldn't put the book down" means!

Soon after reading this book, I re-realized my calling to be a pastor.
