A war between the Soviet Union and the United States has been going on for years. Americans have resorted to guerrilla warfare, with small contingents operating deep within the enemy-occupied territory. As a desperate measure, they have constructed extremely efficient killer robots called claws that can operate on their own and are capable of repairing themselves and improving on their own design. Be careful what you design. Never make it smarter than yourself. This is one of the best of Philip K. Dick's stories.

    Horrible quality!
The story is great! I've read it before. However, this sounds like some guy read it in his bedroom. Couldn't even finish it!
    Not Much of a Surprise
As interesting as I expected. Science fiction is always engrossing to me. I grew up sneaking my brother's science fiction short story magazines.

    Kinda boring unfortunately
For me it is a very slow story with not much of a return on the time invested in it while listening to it. Not an awful book over all the story just wasn't for me.

What would you do if you lived in a world where your every move was scrutinized by your own personal artificial intelligence - a world where everything is regulated, from power usage to relationships - a world where everything you thought you knew turned out to be a lie?
Welcome to Tisaia - the last hub of modern civilization in a world left scorched by the nuclear fires of the Biomass Wars. Surrounded by a fortress of steel walls and protected by a fierce and loyal Council of Royal Knights, Tisaia seems relatively safe to the average State worker and citizen. A plentiful supply of Biomass powers the cities and food is abundant, but security has come at a terrible cost. The State will do anything to protect its resources, even if it means suppressing the rights of its citizens and deporting immigrants into the Wasteland - a virtual death sentence.
Spurious Timur is one of the State workers helping keep the wheels of prosperity turning in Tisaia. As he starts to explore Tisaia and question his own worth, he realizes there may be more to his subsistence than he thought. When he meets and falls for co-worker Lana Padilla, he begins to understand he may hold the key to restoring Tisaia to a just and free State.
However, restoring Tisaia will come at a cost; both to Spurious and those he cares about, because in Tisaia nothing is ever what it seems. And as more of his past begins to surface, he is faced with the ultimate decision--on which side of the revolution should he fight?

    Worth it
I'll admit I was hesitant at first. I'm not usually into this style of sci-fi fantasy. I go more for zombie military apocalypse. Nick developed great characters and a great story. The struggle of the main character is what kept me listening. if you like suspense and unexpected turns I implore you to check this book out.
A fun take on the post-apocalyptic world
The Biomass Revolution is a post-apocalyptic tale of a society living after a world-wide nuclear war. This society's government uses a brutal military to oppress its citizens and keep out all outsiders, including those who need help. Living in all of this is a state worked named Spurious who soon learns that his government has been lying to him for years and his life is not what it seems.
I enjoyed the setting of this book as it was a rather unique take on the possibility of a society. Sure, there are the survivors and marauders of the wasteland, but inside of Tessea was a high-tech, brutal regime. The characters were also strong and well done and I really liked Spurious and Obie (the squad leader in the resistance). I thought the plot was somewhat predictable with few surprises and some of the dialogue was a bit over-the-top and uninspired.
The narrator did a fine job and I had no complaints there.
Overall, it was a fun listen and had a very satisfying ending. Well worth the read.
NOTE: I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.
There was little depth and detail in characters
The Biomass Revolution is set in the post-apocalyptic near future in the city of Tisaia. The story follows many characters as they navigate the challenges of this isolationist and oppressive state.

Each book in the series gets better!
I listened to all three in the series. The last two in two days, I could not get enough of it! I loved it! Everything I said about the first two in my reviews here:

    http://www.audible.com/listener/Dean-Thomas/AO082F0ADPGB5/ref=a_listener__cco_1_1_rvwTtl?asin=B00JEI34QQ
Still stands, except in this last instalment it gets even better!
I like zombie books simply because at times I enjoy the break from reality. I like the pure escapism offered by them. But so many in the genre seem to take themselves too seriously and create tension to the point that emotionally I have had enough. Life sucks at times enough that I dont need to make up more suckieness I know it isnt a proper word, but who cares! This series is different. Every time there is tension, it is lightened by the sarcastic humour of Jace or another character! It is like watching a adult version of Itchy and Scratchy cartoon!
The only shortcoming for me was the end. Dont worry I wont give it away. The end does a adequate job of bring the series to a conclusion. But it doesnt have too. It could continue. I hope it does, and if it does I would pre-purchase it!
The series started off in my top 10 went to top 5 and now is my favourite!
    great story
Great story, but the narrating needs to be set at .9 in order to come across without raising my heart rate.
    Keep them coming
Nothing relaxes me more than zombie killing. Love this series and All the characters. Now it's on to the next one. Why do reviews have to be so long?
    Great story!!
Either I'm getting used to Andrew Wehrlen's delivery or he's getting better, either way this is a hugely entertaining story and I can't wait to start the next book!!

Would you try another book from Jake Bible and/or Andrew B. Wehrlen?
    probably not.
What could Jake Bible have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Stop using foul language for no other purpose than to add words to the book.
Jake Bible must be around 15 years old, the language was horrible and not one time in the whole book was anything resembling intelligence ever spoken
What about Andrew B. Wehrlens performance did you like?
    The narrator was fine.
    You didnt love this book...

    Publisher's Summary:
Artemis Awakening is the start of a new series by New York Times best seller Jane Lindskold.
The distant world Artemis is a pleasure planet created out of bare rock by a technologically advanced human empire that provided its richest citizens with a veritable Eden to play in. All tech was concealed and the animals (and the humans brought to live there) were bioengineered to help the guests enjoy their staybut there was always the possibility of danger so that visitors could brag that they had "bested" the environment.
The Empire was shattered in a horrific war; centuries later humanity has lost much of the advanced technology and Artemis is a fable told to children.
Until young archeologist Griffin Dane finds intriguing hints that send him on a quest to find the lost world. Stranded on Artemis after crashing his ship, he encounters the Huntress Adara and her psych-linked companion, the puma Sand Shadow. Their journey with her will lead Dane to discover the planets secretsand perhaps provide a key to give unimagined power back to mankind.

    Stellar new sci-fi series
Artemis Awakening delivers a suspenseful plot, complex characters, and meticulous world-building. Joe Barrett does a great job on the narration. I couldn't stop listening once I got started!
Griffin Dane, we discover, is an archeologist of the Indiana Jones variety: he set off for Artemis chasing the glory of rediscovering the mythic world that had been lost to intergalactic civilization for five hundred years. For him, this is the discovery of a lifetime... if he can ever get home again. His landing shuttle is a total loss, destroyed in a crash and buried in a rock slide.
For Andara the Huntress, finding Griffins wrecked shuttle is a startling discovery: off-world visitors are only distant memory passed down through the Lore of her people. Their planet was designed as an exclusive resort for tourists seeking to escape their hyper-evolved lives for a vacation in a simple pastoral setting, with all the comforts tourists could want supplied by hidden technology. However, a rival faction within the empire launched an attack on the seigneurs, or "seegnurs" as the Lore calls them. Nanobots in the atmosphere disrupted technology planetwide, and all of the seegnurs were slaughtered. Industrialization never took hold on Artemis because the nanobots continue to disrupt any technology more advanced than basic gears. They don't know what a machine looks like.
Griffin's chief quest in the book is to find a way to reactivate the seegnurs' technology to contact his orbiting ship. He travels with Andara and Terrell, another young man from Andara's village, to seek help from the Old One Who is Young. His avid interest in the seegnurs means that he is the most likely person to have the technology Griffin needs, but if the stories are true, much more is at stake than Griffins hope of returning home.
Adara is especially at risk because she was born with genetic adaptations from feline DNA: these types of altered people are the focus of a forced breeding program run by the Old One Who is Young in secret. Fortunately, she can rely on her puma companion, Sand Shadow, as an intelligent and capable partner.

In the far future, humanity settles the stars, bioengineering its descendants to survive in a harsh universe. This is the second book in the science fiction series, The Backworlds. A space opera adventure.
Revenge is on Craze's mind. He chews on it everyday along with the relentless dust on Pardeep Station. He dreams of grander business and wealth, enough to make his father choke.
That's the dream consuming him when the interstellar portal opens, spitting out a ship that that should no longer exist. A battleship spoiling for a fight, yet the war with the Foreworlds ended two generations ago.
The enemy takes over Craze's tavern and aims their dastardly guns in his face. One wrong move and the shaky truce will end. So will Craze and his friends.
Can he outwit them? He must, otherwise Craze and the Backworlds won't survive.

    It was enjoyable
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
It starts with Lepsi gone and Pardeep being overrun by the bad people. I don't like it when books skip the story line inbetween. I would expect it to start with lepsi taking off and disapearing but maybe the author wanted it that way. It's not a bad story. Looking forward to the next book even though they aren't on audible.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Craze was my favorite. The poor guy keeps getting messed with and I hope he gets stronger.

From the early 1900s right up to Z-Day, the Grove Park Inn was the place for the affluent to stay when vacationing in Asheville, NC. Everyone from F. Scott Fitzgerald to President Barak Obama stayed at the Grove Park. Artists, actors, diplomats, masters of industry, all called it a temporary home at one point or another. But that was before the zombie apocalypse.
Now the five-story stone, brick, and wood luxury inn is home to a different element. An unknown element. A heavily armed element.
With Whispering Pines being rebuilt, Jace "Long Pork" Stanford has nothing better to do than find out who the newcomers are. Well, while hes not busy dealing with the ever present Z hordes. Or running for his life from paramilitary mercenaries. Or possibly blowing up more of the zombie-infested city because he cant help pressing buttons. Buttons are meant to be pressed, even in the apocalypse, right?
Looks like its just another day in Z-Burbia!

Action and Humour what more do you need?
Jace the main character continues in his best sarcastic form. The last 40 minutes made me wet my pants from laughter!
After the first book which I loved, I was worried that the second in the series would go in a direction which would ruin the fun factor. However, the opposite happened. The fun factor went upwards. This story is a mixture of adult comic book style violence and the Seinfeld show.
This book also continues the tradition of having an ending which causes me to wonder where the author is going to take the next in the series. I certainly did not expect the last few minutes of this one!
The narrator once again does an excellent job with the multiple characters. Just like almost every other title of late, the listening speed can be increased. 1.25x speed was easily listened to.
I enjoyed book 2 so much I purchased the third in the series before I even finished this one. I said in my review that the first book was in my top ten. But this one is in my top five!
While many people talk about Mark Tufos Zombie Fallout series as being great, I would rate this series up there as almost an equal. I can highly recommend this one!
I can't get enough of this series
What made the experience of listening to Z-Burbia 2: Parkway To Hell, Volume 2 the most enjoyable?
Elsbeth. I always looked forward to her scenes because it was almost a guarantee that she would say something that would make me bust out into laughter.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Z-Burbia 2: Parkway To Hell, Volume 2?
Definitely towards the end. Jace minus a hand
    Which scene was your favorite?
All of Elsbeth's crazy zombie killing sprees
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was constantly laughing reading this book.
    Any additional comments?
I have blown through reading this series since reading this book. There is always constant excitement. I love a book where they can make a serious situation seem a little lighter with comedy. Some parts may have been a little overkill but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
    Still good
Not as good as first but still worth a listen. Narration is wonderful. Story a bit thin. Didn't like the story that unfolding near the end
    More laughs!
This series is hilarious! The first person narrative has a witty, snarky personality that is impossible not to love.

The Carrera saga continues with entry number five, and the sequel to Amazon Legion. Carrera. Relentless. Machiavellian. Without compunction. Victorious. Pity his enemies. Be thankful he is on the side of freedom from totalitarian domination. On the colony planet of Terra Nova, soldier turned political leader Carrera has achieved his revenge, destroying those who killed his wife and children in a terrorist strike, and helping to establish a free country. But Carreras fight is not over. War with the Tauran Union is inevitable. Carrera has been preparing his new country for this all-out conflict for years, intending to drive out the last vestige of foreign imperialism in Balboa, the Tauran Union Security Force. He doesn't care that he's outnumbered 100 to one. He doesn't care that the Taurans are 1,000 times wealthier. A true Machiavellian, Carrera is convinced that gold cannot always find good soldiers, but that good soldiers can always find gold. After all, his good soldiers have already found quite a bit. Moreover, he's been preparing for the war he intends to start and fight on his own terms, while the TU has been preparing for a progressive fantasy. But then his own government calls a halt even as the commander of the United Earth Peace Fleet, High Admiral Marguerite Wallenstein, injects a dose of realism and spine into the Tauran Union. Any other government, giving similar orders, Carrera would overthrow without hesitation. But this is his own creation; he must follow these orders. But the Taurans are provoking Balboa mercilessly, and Carrera knows that sooner or later, he must fight - only now the task will be more difficult and more bloody. No matter. When that time comes, Carerra knows he will do whatever it takes to win. He is, after all, Carrera.

    This isn't going anywhere...strike three
This is the third book in which we see the same time-frame of the story, without advancing the plot. Lotus Eaters, Amazon Legion and Come and Take them all explore the period leading up to and the initial TU invasion of Balboa. If the author has any idea of what comes next, there's no reason to suspect it, as he's written three books and not gotten anywhere. Admittedly, each of these books explores the time from a different point of view, but without advancing the plot, Lotus Eaters, Amazon Legion and Come and Take Them just come off as rants or position papers thinly wrapped in repetitive fiction (and I'm either curious or partisan for the authors position). I'm interested in seeing how things work out with the UEPF, but, since the author isn't ever going to tell that story, there's no point in continuing.
    Hours and Hours of Nothingness
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
    A deaf person.
Would you ever listen to anything by Tom Kratman again?
No. I am done with this author. I brought two earlier books from this series and this one pretty much ended it. The first book took a good story line and backed it up with some solid action scenes. I had hope. This book took that promise and tossed it in the dirt, then unzipped its fly and pissed on it.

    Genius writing, great book
If someone had told me that they wanted to recommend a book to me that had romance, gore/horror, sci-fi, and mobster mystery, with just a hint of spirituality, where the main character was a mathematician, I'd probably pass. But if any author can put all those pieces together in a great story, it's Dan Simmons.
I haven't loved everything that Simmons has written, but this book gets an A+, I loved everything about it.
The romance between Jeremy, the main character, and his wife is beautiful and heart warming. The set-up that leads to all the action is masterful, one shocking moment rolls right into the next and it's all oddly believable.
Simmons alternates between present and past between chapters and it works. I looked forward to picking up on the story between chapters and it added to the suspense in the middle of hair-raising situations.
The pacing was great, and it was super easy to follow along with everything, which is a feat in itself considering just how much happens in this story.
The narrator was flawless. I've never heard Boyett before. He disappeared perfectly, never detracting from the story. I especially loved any scene where the characters were whispering. He's just really good.
There was an annoying technical error in the first two chapters of the 2nd half of the book--it seemed like almost an entire chapter was duplicated. Hopefully that's something that Audible will fix, so by the time you are reading this, it won't be there.
    I highly recommend this book.
    I Gave Up
What disappointed you about The Hollow Man?
There seemed to be nothing driving the story except for the main character's desire and need to run. I listened for close to three hours, and all that happened is that the hero's wife dies; he leaves; he runs afoul of a gangster; he escapes; he takes a long bus ride. Eventually I got the feeling that the author was simply using the hero's extraordinary ability to write about dozens of unconnected characters. The hero intrudes into their minds, as do we, to hear micro-dramas about their lives. I began to get the feeling that the ESP was simply a plot device for the author to drop a number of half-formed characters into a story, as though they were people he'd thought of who had no sustainable story of their own.
