Interesting..

hmm.. Where to start... I liked the story it was different. I did think the relationship between Sam and Nafarious seemed forced. I think it would have been better had he known immediately she was his mate, I thought werewolves had an instant mate sense. This did not occur, hence the feeling it was forced.

I would have liked a bit more substance to the story the plot seemed a little weak.

There was dialogue but I would have liked a bit more. There was some good sex scenes written in.

I did like the secondary characters very much, particularly Roland and Maddie.

Sam's change into becoming a werewolf was a bit odd and kinda dull.

With that being said I did like the concept of the story, I did not hate it nor did I love it. I am glad it was not a long book. I am hoping the next story in the series has more excitement, and plot to it. It was free on amazon and a 1.99 on audible so for that price it was worth the listen/read.

As for the narrator, she was a bit monotonous and sounded a robot as she read. She wasn't the worst narrator but definitely not the worst. I think she could do better with the male voices and her reading voice a little less robotic feel.

Seduced by a Mermaid!

I think in this story that Sam Vanikey is the one who's been seduced. I love mermaid stories and I'm always up to listen to a good mermaid story. Author Karli Rush has written a short and sweet fantasy story. Sam is under alot of pressure to get some new paintings done for a new gallery opening. He's also heartbroken with losing Angie and he hasn't the inspiration to paint. He has a sister who's supportive and he lives there on an island off the coast of Seattle. One day as he

goes to the beach to try to paint a naked woman comes walking up to him. She appears and seems to disappear and he doesn't know exactly what is going on. He thinks he might've just

imagined her. He's left with pictures of her that he painted, so did he really imagine her? He knows a storm is on the way and the need to find her has him driving back to the island and braving the storm he goes out in search for her until she returns to him but maybe he returns to her, I'll Let you learn that for yourself. If you find this story great and entertaining then you should also check out Pine Needles by Karli Rush.

Narrator Steve Barnes did a descent job but he just didn't do it for me. Of course he did really good with Sam's voice but for all the female characters He just killed it. He didn't even try to change his voice from a male to make it more feminine. That just didn't do it for me. I don't know anything about this narrator but authors really should do more homework when it comes to choosing a narrator because many just kill a story. I still give this a story 4 rating because of the authors writing.

EXCELLENT TIME TRAVEL COMES FULL CIRCLE

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author and publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

A serious time travel story that eventually answered all the random questions I had while listening... times 2! Because there are two friends dabbling in their time travel discovery, needing to experience the love of their lives. One, for the first time and her friend, after her love has died.

Great narration and veeeery interesting story!!

A great romantic adventure

I loved this time travel romance. It tells the story of two best friends who go to a virtual reality adventure castle that enables them to go back to 1969, London and California. It basically gives them a chance at a do-over in the romance department.

This book is quite an adventure and full of surprises. I love the way the story unfolds. The historical references brought back my own memories from the summer of '69. I loved all the characters, and the magical surprise twist at the end. Really a great read.

I listened to the audio version and narrator, Stephanie Bentley, did a fantastic job. This book is going on my favorites shelf. I will definitely read more by this author.

Susan B. James provides many details to keep you grounded in the past and present.

Her descriptions of love and loving will warm your heart and have you cherishing your partner.

I enjoyed listening to this story while I ran errands, waited for a long train to pass, and while driving on the highway. A lovely way to listen, contemplate and enjoy the moments I was present in.

Yes. Although the timeline varies greatly from the original (and I won't spoil it for anyone) it is a clever and intelligent "take" on the P&P story. Wendy Sotis has stayed true to each character.

The end of the series...

Sigh, the end of a series is always bittersweet. I was really loving the stories for the smexy twins. I could have used a but more in the resolution of the major plot, but it was great in the romance.

I love yummy alpha types like Noah. He is all boss and Dom voice. Jesse really does not stand a chance. They have such awesome chemistry and the history makes the feeling believable.

I was a bit disappointed in the end of the plot with the uncle, I just wanted more. There was so much build during the series, then it just kind of ends in ten minutes. I would love o see this book expanded, giving us more of the voodoo priestess and coven. I feel like there is so much story there that could be told.

The narrative is a great mix of the leads and the bad gut. Mostly you get Noah and Jesse's POV, which gives you insight into their true feelings. There are many more layers at play here because they were together before and the issues with her demon half being secret.

The steam is delicious. This series has rode the edge of BDSM, there are elements of Dominance and submission, without the scenes and protocols. Really hot and smexy lovin in this book. Oh yeah, Noah is definitely the roughest brother in the bedroom. Leaves me fanning my face.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Fairview, who does a great job with the read. She has a deeper raspy tone to her voice. It really works for the smexy scenes and the men's voices. She also added just the right touch of softness to the women's voices. When it comes to the energy of the smexy scenes, this narrator really gets into things! You can feel the action and tension of the moment in her enthusiastic narration! I loved her work throughout the series. I will definitely be looking for more of her reads. She gives good voice!

This was a really interesting series, just short. It would be great to see the stories expanded, because there is so much that could be played with. With all the combustible relationships and quick love, I missed some of the natural build. Some of the couples had great banter, it was sadly cut short. The BDSM elements could be enhanced as well. This is all nit picking, at the end of the day I was entertained.

Excellent series

I loved reading about Jake and Shelby, just as I have Scott and Hope, Marco and Thea, and of course Jared and Kelsey. Theirs stories are part of the bigger story of the Refarians, and there seems like that story is left unfinished.

Exceptional immersive world-building

I've already referred several friends to this series. I really can't wait for the next book, even though I've read all four of the series. I bought the third and fourth books before I finished the second book and bought the second book immediately after finishing the first. I set myself up for notifications when a new books come out because I don't want to miss anything. There's lots of devoted and steamy bedroom action between the couples. There are a number of twists and turns that constantly expand the world of possible paths that the characters might be following - or is it this other path/timeline? I loved learning more about each of the various characters as they developed throughout the series. Be prepared to find a comfy position when you begin reading and expect to be there for awhile. :)

in the 21st century Nathan has been a year trying to find Amanda the woman he fell in love with.in 1906. they were going to get married on the day after they both disappeared.

the heartbreak Nathan feels after loosing amamda and finding her again when she doesn't know who he is is well written. the whole book gripped me to the end.

Another fine Sookie Stackhouse adventure

I just finished the fifth novel in the Southern Vampire Mysteries aka the Sookie Stackhouse novels so I'm a little behind in my reviewing. In one of the great happy circumstances of my life I had independently decided to read this series of novels AND to watch the new Alan Ball TV series, not knowing that the latter was based on the former. I had already ordered the first four novels in the series (but had not yet received them) when I read that TRUE BLOOD was based on Charlaine Harris's books. Since then I've become a big fan of both. I'll start on the sixth Sookie Stackhouse book sometime this next week just as I eagerly await the third episode of TRUE BLOOD tomorrow night. And with the announcement that the show has already been renewed for a second season (it will come out this summer) and with Harris certain to write new novels (I won't read the eighth until it appears in paperback -- I like my books to match when possible -- this winter), Sookie Stackhouse seems destined to be around for quite some time to come.

The challenge in any series is how to keep expanding the world it describes without becoming too diffuse. CLUB DEAD follows LIVING DEAD IN DALLAS by moving much of the novel's action to another southern city, this time the much smaller metropolis of Jackson, Mississippi. Sookie has to go there in an attempt to find and rescue her vampire boyfriend Bill, who has been captured by parties unknown (though, of course, not by the end of the book). She is aided by a new character in the series, a were named Alcide Herveaux. I won't go into plot details, but the novel has a lot of fun and memorable scenes.

Bubba is back! The idea is that when Elvis died and was taken to the morgue, he wasn't quite dead. The coroner was actually a vampire and he attempted to revive the King as a vampire, but something went wrong in the attempt and he was left a tad feeble-minded. The vampires keep him under wraps, but occasionally he gets out into the public and people see him, accounting for the sightings. Bubba (he doesn't react well to being called Elvis) could have been a terrible character, but he is handled with just the right touch to be a lot of fun.

The main reason I continue to enjoy these books is the wonderful narrative voice that Harris given Sookie.

Vampire erotica

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book to a friend only if I knew he/she was looking for horny vampires. I would not recommend this book if they are looking for a story line to follow.

Would you be willing to try another book from Tina Folsom? Why or why not?

Because I prefer to know the end of a story, I would probably get the next book. If it does not get better that will be the end of this series for me.

Which scene was your favorite?

I have no favorite scenes as yet.

Was Venice Vampyr worth the listening time?

This has been a kind of disappointment for me. Why? Because Ms Folsom lost the plot along the way. She has a good story line to follow with developing the fight between the vampires and the vampire killers, but this part of the story get's dropped for most of the book. It would be so much more interesting if she would concentrate on this battle as well as the sex life of the vampires.

Like I said, I'll get the next book in the series just to see if the story line develops into something substantial, but if it doesn't, I'm over this series. Eric G. Dove is one of the better narrators here on audible.

Fresh, new, & riveting adventure romance

This series was an unexpected surprise I'm so grateful to have found. It was a review by Nalini Singh that I caught someway in my browsing for something new.

This is a post-apoplyptic adventure tale that will appeal to paranormal, urban fantasy, and sci fi romantics as well as fans of Hunger Games. But Gleason/Ware brings romantic fiction readers a couple new things that I rarely (if ever) see in romance. Passionate, sexy alpha dudes who are sexually principled and not erotically opportunistic. Are these hot stories? Oh yeah. Heck, Nalini Singh recommended them after all (can you tell she's in my "five"?).

But in the first two books of the Envy Chronicles I've read including Embrace the Night, our guys want more than a quickie after a very long dry spell and hold out until their lady gives in. How refreshing is that in romantic fiction?

In Embrace the Night, Simon our mysterious deadly lead, is coming from such a dark place that he is convinced that he isn't good enough and fights everything in him to see our leading lady is matched up with someone better than him. She isn't having it.

For the reader who wants a little more substance to backstory in a novel like this, there are some very interesting conundrums for the modern reader to contend with particularly with the open promiscuity of this sparsely populated world and the reasoning behind it--the urgency to repopulate the planet. But who benefits from that?

Gleason/Ware has a few weaknesses in this world she has created. She doesn't deal with some of the logistical infrastructure issues (food production etc) which would be the number one issue (see maslow). She is also not good tactician. There are scenes in both first and second book where the tactics are lunacy (telling strangers your plans for survival in given situations; not asking pertinent questions at key moments etc).

But I so enjoyed these both and the very different characters that populate each romantic tale that I will happily overlook those flaws. You may read other reviews saying book two sizzled more than book one, and I disagree. Dr Elliot Drake had to endure some terrible situations that would darken the visage of any doctor. He may be in my top 10 romantic heros of all time (even tho he committed some of the previously mentioned tactical errors). Gleason/Ware had to do a lot of world building very succinctly and I love many aspects of how she did it.
