Rebecca shares the moment in her early 40s when she realized she was spending more of her life unhappy than happy. Sitting alone on her porch around her 40th birthday, she began questioning the way she was living and recognized that something needed to change.

But why do so many of us wait?

We wait for the perfect relationship. The promotion. More money. The kids to grow up. Retirement. A major birthday. Sometimes even a tragedy.

This conversation explores what happens when you stop waiting for life to begin and start intentionally experiencing the life you already have.

Rebecca and Hatem discuss the idea that we may only experience around 80 summers in a lifetime—and why thinking about life that way doesn't have to be depressing. Instead, it can be a reminder to appreciate ordinary moments, relationships, experiences and the people around us.

They also discuss how social media has changed the way we experience life, the danger of constantly comparing ourselves to others, why material success doesn't necessarily create happiness, and why meaningful memories can ultimately matter more than accumulating things.
