Welcome back to another episode of the live with Lorraine podcast! In this episode I give a quick health update in terms of my diagnosis and where I am at after having my appointment with a rheumatologist. The topic of todays episode is people pleasing and how it not only affects those of us that are empathic of kind hearted but how it also affects alot of people who struggle with chronic illness. I go into what it is, how it shows up for people. I also share some really messages that came through to be during meditation about my relationship with people pleasing that allowed me to really recognise my pattern and be ready to change it. I talk about your values and how to figure out what they are in terms of your relationships and I also talk about the power of no. In the episode i recommend the book “not nice by Dr Aziz Gazipura. It’s a fantastic book with really good exercises on people pleasing. I share all of this and more in this super personal and also therapeutic episode. In todays episode I do a deep dive into what I have been dealing with the last while which is a fibromyalgia diagnosis. I go into what it is, how it came about for me and how I was diagnosed. I talk about the impact this has on me mentally, being stuck in a fix it mindset and also a fear mindset thinking I had done something to cause this in myself. I talk about the path to healing and acceptance, other invisible illnesses and how it can impact people. I also share a little for those who may have someone in their life who is suffering on how to communicate with them or show up for them in a way that allows them to feel heard. This episode was really therapeutic for me and important for me to share and while I am not completely healed I am moving through this the only way I know how, by trying to use my experience to help others. Welcome back! It’s been a minute sense I jumped on the podcast! A lot has gone on the last few months and a lot of thoughts have been on my mind! In todays episode I dive into some thoughts I have been having around ego in my own life, the addiction of needing to rush and do do all of the time and trying to find a way to live a slower softer life with the seasons. Our expectations are shaped by our perspective but what we often don't realise is our perspective is different to the people around us. For me this is something I only really became aware of in the last few weeks and how my expectations of myself and others have been shaping my life in not the most positive way. In this episode we dive into the idea of expectations and where they come from, how our unconscious habits can play a big roll in how we see and deal with things, how to become aware of your own expectations, there origin and weather or not they are serving you. I give real life examples of how this has been playing out in my life, how it has impacted my chronic illness and ability to put myself first. And as always I give practical real time things you can do to uncover your own expectations and gain a greater awareness of how they are shaping you and your outside experiences. This podcast shares my journey through chronic illness, mental health and other challenges in life and the spiritual lessons and teachings I pick up along the way.
