It's time to learn the Introverts Edge! Before Matthew Pollard became known as the Rapid Growth ® Guy for challenging business owners to think differently and inspiring business transformation across the globe, he had to first conquer some challenging personal and professional obstacles. From having a learning disability, which left him with the reading speed of a sixth grader in late high school, to being painfully introverted, to being laid off in his first job just weeks before Christmas, Matthew is an inspirational example of how adversity in life seeds the success of the future.
Jump ahead a few short years, and Matthew’s been responsible for five multimillion-dollar success stories of his own, transformed over 3500 struggling businesses worldwide, and founded Small Business Festival, listed by INC. as among the Top-5 business conferences in the nation. He is an outspoken small business advocate, Rapid Growth® Coach, and international keynote speaker. He’s the host of two top-ranked podcasts and the author of the bestseller The Introvert’s Edge, called “a game changer” by Neil Patel. Praised as “the real deal” by Forbes, Matthew has been featured in Fortune, INC., Entrepreneur, and CEO Magazine, and is a regular TV, radio, and podcast guest nationwide.

Brendan has returned for his second appearance on our podcast to dig deeper into the topic of Cancer and the KETO aka Ketogenic Lifestyle. He last appeared on episode 173 where we dug deeper into Primal and Paleo as a big influence on his healthy lifestyle. However, we failed to dig as deep into his truly passionate topic around Cancer and our healthy lifestyle influences.
Some quick background on him, he graduated medical school in 2008 and completed his radiation oncology residency training in 2013. He has lived on Florida’s Space Coast since 2013, where he works as a radiation oncologist at a busy cancer center. He has been practicing a primal/paleo lifestyle since 2011 and has become passionate about the connection between diet/lifestyle and health, particularly as it relates to cancer.
He and his wife, Rachel, started a blog OurHealthHabit.com to share their perspective and outlook on building healthy lifestyles as a family. Brendan has years of personal experience with different nutritional strategies–from paleo to intermittent fasting and ketosis–and his medical background brings a unique perspective to these concepts. He is enthusiastic about health, longevity, and cancer prevention and believes that the key to achieving these can be found by looking outside the mainstream medical and nutrition resources. When he’s not working or spending time with his family, Brendan enjoys working out and training for OCR races and has qualified for the North American Championships to be held in Vermont this summer. Brendan is an avid reader and consumer of podcasts, although this is his first experience on the other side of the microphone!

Before you dive into major lifestyle changes, listen to something by Dom D'Agostino from KETO Nutrition. He's got great episodes out there on podcast shows like Tim Ferris and Nourish Balance Thrive.
Listen and learn more about it and maybe find out more about why you may want to do it. A good enough reason is that you want to try it. You could find out that gosh, that was miserable, or gosh, I did it and I may feel better. You might be a cancer patient or you might have a family member who's living with Cancer. There are other positive impacts here in relation to neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's Disease, which is a huge reason to consider this.

People have got choices and they can afford to eat a good diet and they can choose not too, that's fine. But the poorest people in this country, South Africa, don't have a choice. They've got no access to good food and no education to know what good food is.

People need to realize that health is personalized. Everybody is a little different, don't be too dogmatic about it. Don't be like oh I'm a Vegan so everyone else has to be a Vegan. Or, I'm a Carnivore so everyone else has to be a Carnivore.
There are definitely certain principles that apply to everybody. For example, eating process sugar is bad for you! There IS a lot of diversity and customization available, so you want to be aware of that.
Knowledge is power, so the smarter you are about your health, the more healthy you're going to be. The more you take control of this, the better it is going to be. The reason Socrates was considered to be the wisest man in the world was that he knew his limitations. He knew himself. "Know Self"

Success from anything in anything has come from action and it has come from actually doing it. So whether that is diet and you are saying I'll start tomorrow, I'll start tomorrow. That's fine, but actually, start tomorrow! For Peter, with movies, he has seen people around Peter's age are not doing anything because they never start.
He references Steve Martin's book, where he never felt that he was that funny but he worked the hardest to remember how to be funny. That is how you do it. That is how you are successful in anything and or achieve any success. You have to literally put one foot in front of the other sometimes, especially when things look like they are not happening.
