Sookie enlists her roommate to solve her Tanya problem permanently (but not that permanently). She also encounters the new King of Louisiana and ingratiates herself in her typical style. Then her pledge to answer for Jason's marital fidelity leads her to a very dark place.

The brewing werewolf war comes to a head, and Sookie's right in the middle of it. Then the brewing vampire war comes to a head, and Sookie's right in the middle of it. Sookie also has to come to terms with Quinn, who won't drag Sookie into a war. Probably.

Everybody is hanging around Sookie. Bill's hanging around, Tanya's hanging around, no less than two mysterious strangers are hanging around her. The one person who she wants around is Quinn, and he's missing. Perhaps one of these brewing shadow wars will take her mind off of her annoyance.

The vampire trial is disrupted, but not by Sookie this time. It occasions another mystery for Sookie to solve, which she launches into with her customary verve. Then, a major catastrophe ties all the threads together in a knot... of death.

Sookie arrives at the vampire hotel for the vampire summit. She meets many people and things, including some interdimensional warriors (surprisingly not her problem), and Quinn's sister (definitely her problem). She also faces perhaps her most difficult challenge yet: keeping quiet during a legal proceeding.

Sam tells Sookie not to go the vampire summit. Amelia tells Sookie not to go. Sookie's literal fairy godmother tells her not to go. Sookie goes. It's like a beer going to Oktoberfest.

Which takes a violent turn as a young vampire makes the mistake of his life and attacks her.

Sookie spends some time getting her life in order before embarking on a new adventure: dating a tiger. Well, sometimes he's a tiger, and sometimes he's just a tigerish man. Also just about everybody else is trying to involve her in some plot involving the Queen of Louisiana, but Sookie's in no rush.

After Sookie gets some personal attention from the Bon Temps sniper, she takes a brief hospital vacation before plunging back into the supernatural soup. She and Eric sort out Tara's toxic relationship the bloody way, then Sookie is a partial observer at a were-election.
