Living Dead in Austin

Sookie's visit to the were-funeral is dripping with politics and is a downer. Then somebody tries to burn down her house with her in it, which is a double downer. If smooching her boss might make her feel better she's willing to try it.

While Sookie helps Jason adapt to his new pantherish lifestyle, a series of shootings throw Bon Temps' supernatural community into turmoil. Is it too dangerous for Sookie to get caught up in it? Yes. Does Sookie get caught up in it? Indeed she does.

The struggle between the evil witches of Shreveport and the (somewhat) less evil vampires and werewolves comes to a bloody conclusion, and Sookie has a front-row seat. Then Sookie finally discovers what happened to Jason. It turns out when he said his new fling was a tiger in the sack, he wasn't far off.

Sookie isn't able to make progress in her search for Jason, but memory-free Eric is there to console her. With his penis. Then the Shreveport werewolves (also our favorite rugby team) try to finish the evil witches and they choose Sookie's neighborhood for the showdown.

With Bill out of town, Sookie makes a New Year's resolution to stay out of trouble. She's able to keep it all the way until the early morning of New Year's Day, when she comes across trouble running down the road. She pulls over and gives it a ride, of course.

Having successfully infiltrated the King of Mississippi's estate (by letting a sharp stake infiltrate her chest), Sookie executes another dangerous plan to rescue Bill. Then she makes her way home, and there are thugs waiting to attack her everywhere she goes. Unfortunately her relationship with her deadly boyfriend and his boss are getting strained.

Sookie and Alcide's night of clubbing has tired them out, so they relax by hiding a dead body that they found in Alcide's apartment. This refreshes them enough for another visit to Club Dead. Sookie manages to get a lead on Bill and an entry into the King of Mississippi's estate by the tactic of intercepting a stake meant for another.

On the splits with Bill, Sookie gets a mission to clean up after Bill's mission to Jackson, Mississippi. It involves a musclebound werewolf (is there any other kind?) and some genuine American vampire royalty.

Sookie has to go to a sex party to get to the bottom of Lafayette's murder. She takes Eric with her, who is a top-notch sex party companion. The party starts out dull but is livened up by a surprise guest: madness.

Sookie gets trapped in a church dungeon and a series of very unpleasant things happen. She escapes with the help of a brand new vampire and shifters of various persuasions. She's only been in Dallas two days and she's already visited three underworlds.
