Tracy is trained in Somatic Experiencing and Somatic Internal Family Systems helping men and women navigate childhood wounds and addressing family of origin and generational trauma. Her own unresolved childhood trauma and the most shameful secret of having a narcissistic mother and no father led her to her own freedom by finally talking about this subject of not having a loving parent. The decades of guilt and shame, pretending things are fine were finally processed. Tracy is passionate about trauma informed practices for anyone working with people. Most of us were taught that there were "good" emotions and "bad" emotions. Some were sanctioned and some were not. And so we walk around thinking that if we feel the "bad" emotions, we are weak or crazy. And so, as we move through life, most of us are chasing happiness but unwilling to feel the discomfort of grief, sadness, loneliness, shame or guilt. But as Brene Brown says, "When we numb the dark, we numb the light." In order to feel fully alive, we have to give ourselves permission to feel it all. In this episode, Mary walks you through 5 ways to stretch yourself as you relate to your emotions so that you can begin feeling the full rainbow. When we let ourselves be fully human all of life opens up. Because the truth is, we feel all day everyday, and once we learn how to name our emotions and create space for them without judgement we can receive the gift they each individually offer.
ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS…
- The importance of increasing your emotional vocabulary
- How emotions are fluid and always changing
- Experiencing the ebb and flow of emotions
- Why the contrast with emotions makes it all sweeter
- Emotional seasons of life
- The gift of challenging emotions
- Approaching emotions as neutral - not good or bad
- Letting yourself feel many emotions at once
- And more!

Join Mary as she kicks off the 3rd Season of Living Fully Alive podcast! We are going to spend Season 3 talking about emotions. There are A LOT of emotions right now. All you have to do is hop on social media and you will see that so many of us are feeling heavy emotions, and often those emotions are coming out sideways. Maybe you aren't using social media or other public platforms to let your emotions out, maybe you are stuffing your emotions. Maybe you are using food, alcohol, busyness, or other distractions to avoid feeling your feelings. When we disassociate from our feelings we aren't living a life that is truly fully alive. We need to befriend our emotions in order to process them in a healthy way. When we are afraid of our emotions and our feelings we can't get below the surface to deal with what is really going on. Maybe that fear comes from not understanding what emotions really are or where they come from. On this first episode of this 8 part series we will set the foundation of what's to come by talking about the anatomy of emotions and breaking down what they actually are.
ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS…
- What's coming in Season 3
- Why we fear our emotions
- The 4 part definition of "emotion"
- The science of emotions
- What happens in your physical body when you feel emotions
- How emotions are records of the past
- Why emotions are important feedback for our lives
- Giving yourself permission to not be defined by your emotions
- And more!

Join Mary and her part time co-host, Lindsley Brooks, as they talk about the power that we have when we learn to listen to our energetic body. Each of us puts off a unique energy or aura. This is scientifically proven. In Eastern medicine this is referred to as the subtle body. If you are wanting to live a holistic and healthy life, we have to become mindful of the subtle body and how to best support it. Our different energy centers, also known as Chakras, play a role in the function of certain emotions, organs, and parts of our body. When our energy isn't flowing well, it can create disease and dysfunction in the physical body. When we connect the physical body and the energetic body we can better pinpoint areas of our life that we need to focus on and bring better balance to.
ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS…
-The roots of modern medicine
-The 7 main Chakras
-Bringing balance to your energy centers
-How the earth can help to heal our physical body
-Reclaiming your right to be here
-The power of our words over our physical body
