Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable is courageous and also terrifying.
With it comes discomfort and uncertainty.
How can we lean in to vulnerability when what we feel like doing is running the other way or finding somewhere to hide.
Today I am sharing signs to look for when you might be experiencing a vulnerability hangover, and how to take steps to care for ourselves.
Listen in.

Is sickness a stressor for you, friend?
Something that enters your life and causes feelings of stress?
As someone who lives with Bipolar disorder and cycling moods, it doesn’t take much to throw my mind and body off course.
So myself getting sick or a loved one can be very difficult on my mental and emotional wellness. In the past, I’ve had times where sickness could wipe me out for weeks.
When our bodies are sick, the feelings can be similar to depression. Low mood, don’t feel like being around people, aren’t able to do the things we usually enjoy, etc.

This episode truly feels like an invitation to grab your favorite emotional support beverage ☕️🥰 and pull up a chair. We can learn so much from each other when we actively listen.
The reality of us discovering our own path to wellness recovery is that it isn’t always pretty. We will cycle through good times and really difficult times.
With you,
Amy
Special thanks to…
Singer-songwriter Joel Ansett, for the use of his song Known & Loved.
The Amanda’s and I would each tell you in our own way how much this song resembles peer support and our friendships. It beautifully expresses what it looks like for us as we walk with each other on our paths to wellness recovery.
Thank you, Joel. ❤️
Amanda Cady and Amanda Morrison for being at the table with me today. I love you dearly!

🤔 Have you wondered where to even begin when it comes to discovering your own path to wellness recovery?
You are not alone.
In my experience of going from living invisible to being seen and known, I found that vulnerability and having safe spaces to talk about my mental health and wellness, has helped me see more clearly my own path to wellness recovery.
Even more, having friends that know our plan and can invite us into our path and even go with us, is so invaluable.
Today I am joined by two of my very dear friends, Amanda Cady and Amanda Morrison, who I met while offering Peer Support in our community. You will get to hear what drew us to each other and how we have been able to support each other on our paths to wellness recovery.

Do you picture yourself or someone else?
In today’s episode my hope is that you will feel empowered to see yourself as the expert of your own life.

Do you have days when you just feel the need to be more quiet?
I definitely do, and I find it can be harder to accept my invitation to the table where I am. I was reminded this week that I first need to accept my own invitation to the table where I am in order to extend that invitation to others.
Join me today as I share real life examples of what it can be like/feel like for me on days where I am feeling quiet and how I’ve learned to communicate with my support people what I need.

Have you been experiencing a shift in your mood or feeling any changes in your body recently?
I have found from my own lived experience that when the season changes it can sometimes make me feel disoriented or unsteady for a bit. I start to notice a shift in my body and mind. I have learned that those feelings don’t have to take me somewhere I don’t want to go.
In today’s episode we will practice seasonal awareness, as we reflect together what we are being invited to embrace and release in this new season of our lives.

Do you realize how much beauty is inside you?
For years after being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, it felt like any semblance of mental wellness was out of reach for me. I was so focused on the illness and the clinical side of treatment that I hadn’t even stopped to consider that I could still experience wellness even while having an illness.
In today’s episode, I am sharing from my own lived experience of going from being very shutdown focused on an illness that I didn’t want, to uncovering more and more wellness as I began sharing what I was living with in community with others and began to experience a sense of thriving in my life that I never thought possible.
