Theme:                  When we have unresolved anger or resentment in our life it affects our spirits and our prayer life. So forgiveness is a very important element of prayer. We are told to forgive our enemies and to pray for them.

In this text Jesus provides the perfect example for how to "pray through clenched teeth".

March 18                (Fifth Sunday in Lent)      

Text:                      Mark 14:32-36

Title:                      It Starts With Prayer: "When God Says No"

Theme:                  We have all prayed for things that did not happen. In other words we have asked God for things and God has told us, "No".  In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus prayed for God to deliver him from the cross.

But Jesus ended that same prayer by saying, "Not my will but what you will." The more we grow in our faith   the more we want what God wants and not what we want. We then begin to see God's 'No's as a means of getting

aligned with God's will.

March 11                (Fourth Sunday in Lent)

Title:                      It Starts With Prayer: "Praying for Healing and Restoration"

Theme:                  Every promise in the Bible is accompanied by a condition. This text offers the promise of healing and restoration, but it also comes with conditions; humility, seeking God, praying, turning from wicked ways.

If we can live by these conditions our life will be filled with many moments of healing and restoration.

March 4                  (Third Sunday in Lent)      

Text:                      1 Thessalonians 5:16-24

Title:                      It Starts With Prayer: "A Model for Continuous Prayer"

Theme:                  Paul tells the Thessalonians that they should pray continually. If we were to take this to heart, how might it look if we were to "pray continually"?  This sermon will offer a model that lifts up both the pattern for

prayer and also how we might use those patterns throughout the day and greatly enhance our prayer life.

February 25            (Second Sunday in Lent)

Theme:                  Our understanding of God shapes everything in our life, even how we pray. Although God is far too complex for us to every fully comprehend one truth we know about God; God loves us and wants

the best for us. If we truly believe this about God, then we can and will "approach God's throne of grace with confidence."
