Locked On Angels - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels live to fight another day, as Matt Thaiss and Shohei Ohtani homer and Michael Stefanic walks it off against the Yankees in extra innings! Griffin Canning struck out 12 on 120 pitches, holding it down for the Halos and setting up the team for a win. Shohei's epic game-tieing home run came with an even more epic bat flip! Aaron Loup kept the ghost runner from scoring, and Michael Stefanic came up clutch to win it! We've got all the details in segment 1!

Then, Zach Neto's father shared a photo on Twitter that demonstrated Zach's passion for the game and the kind of leadership that the Angels have been in need of the past few years. Is Zach Neto someone who could step up as a locker room leader and infuse the Halos with some fire? We'll discuss it all in segment 2!

Plus, how many leads have the Angels given their pitchers, only for the guy on the mound to give it right back the next inning? Jon and Mike have the answers, and no, you haven't been imagining it; they've got the number of times it's happened so far this season in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels had the chance to take fate into their own hands this past weekend, coming out of the All-Star Break facing the Houston Astros who currently sit ahead of them in the Wildcard standings and gain some ground. Unfortunately, the weekend resulted in a series loss on Sunday with some bad bullpen decisions from Phil Nevin, after losing on Friday and working an epic comeback win on Saturday night. Trey Cabbage arrived, Matt Moore returned, Zach Neto came back, and the Angels had a leader in Mike Moustakas play a pivotal role in helping this team show some fight. So, after this weekend, where do things stand? Mike and Jon, the Super Halo Bros., are here to recap the weekend series and bring you up to speed on all things Halos.

The Los Angeles Angels have a tough road ahead if they have any playoff hopes in 2023, and in segment 1, we're taking a look at Jeff Fletcher's article for the OC Register on the Halos' comments about the 2nd half of the season. Can they be the 2021 Braves and find a way to overcome injuries and make a push in the remainder of the season? We'll dive into the player comments and statements from Phil Nevin to start the show!

Then, Shohei Ohtani remains the talk of baseball and all of sports, and after his incredible June, we're asking which Ohtani the Angels will need more of in the second half. Will the Halos benefit from Shohei the pitcher or Shohei the hitter more? We discuss and share our thoughts in segment 2!

Plus, with question marks around many of the Angels starters headed into the weekend, how can the Halos walk away with a series win against the Astros? Mike and Jon have their keys to a winning weekend in segment 3!

The Los Angeles Angels were represented at the MLB All-Star Game by none other than Shohei Ohtani and Carlos Estevez on Tuesday night! All eyes were on Ohtani as he was asked about his future in Anaheim, while Carlos Estevez had a clean 1-2-3 inning with 2 Ks in the 5th! It was exciting to see those two deserving stars represent the Halos well, and Mike and Jon discuss all the sights and sounds from Tuesday, including Shohei's comments to the media in segment 1!

Then, in segments 2 and 3, we're asking the tough questions regarding the Halos' season and providing our gut reactions. Will Ohtani be traded? Will the Angels rebuild or reload? Do they have any playoff hopes with the remaining 71 games? We'll give you our thoughts and answers on today's show!

The Los Angeles Angels selected Nolan Schanuel as their number-one pick in the 2023 MLB Draft! Schanuel figures to be a corner infielder and possibly a corner outfielder who controls the strike zone well and makes significant contact. We'll give you our thoughts on the new Halo and discuss if he will join the likes of Zach Neto, Sam Bachman, and Reid Detmers on the fast track to the Majors in segment 1!

Then, the Angels selected their round 3 through 10 picks on Monday, and Mike and Jon have a rundown of each player they've chosen! From more great contact hitters to high-ceiling relievers, we'll give you the highlights of each new Angel and where they stand to make an impact in the future!

Finally, what do the Angels' draft selections tell us about their draft philosophy so far, and what do the selections of college players who are near-ready to make an impact in the Majors tell us about the Angels' farm system? The Super Halo Bros. explain why they think the Angels have drafted the way they have so far and what it says about the team's future.

The Los Angeles Angels finished the first half of the season under .500 once again, and it came over the weekend in a pitiful series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Starting pitching failed, Jo Adell got hurt after 1 AB, and the Halos could do nothing but limp to the finish line before their much-needed All-Star Break. In segments 1 and 2, we're recapping what happened on Friday and Saturday in LA, and we'll share our thoughts on what's gone wrong with this team.

Then, where do the Angels go from here? What will change, can change, and needs to change? Mike and Jon look ahead to the remainder of the season and discuss what their outlook of the Angels is for 2023.

Los Angeles Angels have a lot to think about these days, and that's why we've opened up the mailbag for FANMAIL FRIDAY! Our Locked On Everydayers sent in their questions about the Halos potentially rebuilding, if the Angels are cursed because they dropped Anaheim from their name, and much more! Would you keep Shohei Ohtani if it meant Arte Moreno was staying on as the owner, or would you let Ohtani go if it meant there was new ownership? Has Anthony Rendon become a bust since signing his expensive deal? We're answering these and much more on today's Locked On Angels!

The Los Angeles Angels fell to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, as the Friars complete the sweep of the Halos. Despite a decent performance from Patrick Sandoval and some timely hitting, some bad ball/strike calls against the Angels seem to take the air out of their tires, as the bullpen surrendered the lead late in the game. Does this loss hit different? We're going to explain why the Super Halo Bros. think so in segment 1!

Then, is there a world where Anthony Rendon decides to hang up the uniform and call it a career? He's been vocal about wanting to be healthy past his playing days, and the unfortunate injuries that have piled up on him this season definitely aren't helping his case for staying healthy past baseball. So, we're asking, would Anthony Rendon retire? Mike and Jon share their thoughts on if he actually would or wouldn't in segment 2.

Plus, you know if it's a bad baseball take, it's coming from Stephen A. Smith on ESPN! The host of "First Take" said on Wednesday morning that the Angels were irrelevant and should trade Shohei Ohtani. Well, hold onto your butts; we're taking the bait and we're responding in segment 3!
