Locked On Astros - Daily Podcast On The Houston Astros

Eric and Brett were joined by Jim Callis to look at what to expect from names such as Pedro Leon, Freduis Nova, and Jeremy Nova. Callis tells us not to give up on Forrest Whitley yet or to refer to him as Mark Appel 2.0. What is Pena's upside and the Astros should not let Carlos Correa walk just because they have him waiting in the wings. We look at many other prospects as well on this podcast.

Eric goes solo following a Locker Room App podcast last night with Brett and Brandon DelCastillo. Topics discussed on this podcast are Zack Greinke being named the opening day starting pitcher and Alex Bregman is set to return to the lineup. With Jake Odorizzi's late arrival to spring training and a few other starters being isolated for a period of time, how will this affect the rotation out of the gate?

Eric and Brett get the week started off with a boom as Yordan Alvarez returns to the lineup for the first time this spring. While he went 0-3, it was good to see him back in there and Lance McCullers stressed how important his bat is to the lineup. While Alvarez would love to play today, Dusty Baker is playing it safe and may play him Tuesday instead. Also, how did McCullers do on the mound, and could Jose Altuve return to batting lead-off?

Eric and Brett join Sully on the Locked On MLB podcast to discuss the upcoming 2021 Astros season. Despite his recent Twitter behavior on Twitter, Sully gave his honest opinions on the team and Eric and Brett try to convince him that the Astros can be better than he thinks. We mostly focus on the pitching in Part 1.

Eric and Brett look at Jake Odorizzi getting Lance Berkman's number and his admiration of Zack Greinke. What are the Rangers doing, allowing 100% capacity for opening day and the two exhibition games, then will lower capacity from there. What are the Astros doing with their fans? We also discussed Forrest Whitley's upcoming surgery and Pedro Baez's positive Covid test. Then, we discussed the notion of having Carlos Correa leadoff over Myles Straw.

Eric is joined by Jason Burke of the Locked On A's podcast to discuss the rivalry between the Astros and A's. We discuss the additions and subtractions of both teams and what they mean for the 2021 team. We also compare the two rotations, the bullpens, and the lineups. We throw some shade at the other team including, but not limited to Mike Fiers and Alex Bregman. This was a fun podcast, give it a listen.

Eric and Brett look at details of how the Houston Astros stayed under the Competitive Balance Tax threshold and signed Jake Odorizzi to a deal that gives this a little wiggle room. Also we breakdown his incentives and how this effected the 40 man roster. We look into the Astros top prospects of 2021. This is a great episode where the Locked on Astros have fun talking about their favorite thing....Astros baseball.

Eric and Brett discuss the Astros signing the top remaining free-agent starter, Jake Odorizzi, and what it means for the luxury tax threshold? Now that we know that Forrest Whitley is likely to need Tommy John surgery, what's next for him? Alex Bregman would be ready to go if this was the regular season.

Eric and Brett are joined by SportsTalk 790's Michael Connor to discuss all the latest talk surrounding the severity of Framber Valdez's injury. What will the Astros do from here? Who could be the surprise MVP from the Astros lineup and who should be the Astros opening day starter? The Astros are not likely to go out and bring a replacement in from outside the organization, so it's time for the next man up.

Eric and Brett look at the fallout following the announcement the Framber Valdez fractured his left ring finger. Who gets the chance to be the fifth starter? Who could be the opening day starter now? Did the Astros mess up by not add more rotational depth before the season? Also, is this the chance for Forrest Whitley to finally make his major league debut? Also, Pedro Leon is talking about what it means to be an Astros player and learning how to play shortstop.
