We got some news on the Artturi Lehkonen injury, and while we didn't get an update on the time frame of when he could return, the news we did get doesn't paint a good picture for the Colorado Avalanche forward.

Lehkonen's father was a guest on a Finnish podcast where he stated his son was in a neck brace, and his mother was on her way to be with Lehkonen in Denver. While we know he is going to be out a while, that little but of information doesn't make us feel good for a return to the ice soon. More importantly, the concern should be about his overall health at this point.

We also discuss the long overdue induction into the Hall of Fame by former Avalanche GM Pierre Lacroix. We discuss how he operated, some of the moves he made, and why there has been nobody like him to this day.

There were several things we loved about this Colorado Avalanche team heading into this season. The potential of their depth was one of them. While we have seen glimpses and some very good individual efforts from those depth players, Wednesday night against the Anaheim Ducks went above and beyond depth expectations.

When players like Joel Kiviranta has a three point game, when Logan O'Connor adds two assists, Ross Colton gets another goal, Andrew Cogliano and Fredrik Olofsson both get one as well, Tomas Tatar find a helper as does Miles Wood who also had an opportunity at a short handed goal. Add all that up and if you get this on a consistent basis this Avalanche team will be difficult to beat.

It didn't start out perfect, but as the game between the Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken went on, we saw more and more of what we have come to expect from the Avs.

You could see the confidence grow with every shift, and then as the goals started to come, every player and every line just seemed to start clicking in a way they hadn't over the past several games.

Many Avalanche players said they needed to find confidence in their game and trust their game and the system. Was this that game? We will see.

Things are rough in the Colorado Avalanche world right now. And comments coming out of the locker room confirm that. Nobody is trying to sugarcoat the team's struggles right now, and maybe that's a good thing.

The Avs could just fall back on their success of past years and feel like things will naturally work themselves out. But they aren't saying that. Jared Bednar even used the word "quit" when describing the team's 3rd period performance against the St. Louis Blues. Something we rarely, if ever, hear him say.

We all pretty much assumed some sort of discipline was coming for Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton following his cross check to the face of New Jersey Devils Forward Timo Meier. Some thought a suspension was in order (one X personality even suggested 10 games on the hit to Luke Hughes prior to the Meier cross check).

The league acted pretty quickly and Colton avoided a suspension and instead was fined $5k. Did getting kicked out of the game prevent a suspension? We don't know. But we do know Colton will be there for the Avs matchup with the Seattle Kraken Thursday night.

Well, that was fun! The Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils skated to a fun, exciting, wacky and wild Tuesday night game that saw the Avalanche get back in the win column, 6-3.

This game had just about everything you wanted. Power play goals, a short-handed goal, good physical play, a game misconduct and a 7 minute power play.

The Avalanche had to get back on track, and while it wasn't perfect, you can see the wheels starting to get some air in the tires.

Except for Jonathan Drouin. What is going on with him?

The Colorado Avalanche have likely been chomping to get back out on the ice after that 7-0 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights last weekend. They welcome a very good, but decimated New Jersey Devils team who is down their superstar Jack Hughes.

At this point, we don't think the Avs care who they are facing. They need to get back to Avalanche hockey and start scoring goals again.

The team did announce a call-up from the AHL Colorado Eagles. Many were assuming the next player to get the call-up would be Riley Tufte. He's been killing it with the Eagles and in the small sample size with the Avalanche has impressed. But he was not who they called up. That went to Ondrej Pavel.

There could be multiple reasons why this call-up went to Pavel and not Tufte. Jared Bednar has stated he wants to get many players involved and get them some time. If the Avs feel like Pavel has a role with the club throughout the season, they want to give him some time now while it's still early in the season.

It also has waiver implications. If the Avs were to call up Tufte, they would have to place him on waivers if they eventually send him down, which there is a very good chance he would get claimed, or at least they feel he could. So they don't want to risk that on a call-up that might not see any action for this game.

Oh! How we were looking forward to this game. An early season matchup between two powerhouse teams that are expected to do some damage in the playoffs and compete for the Stanley Cup. But after the Colorado Avalanche left Las Vegas after a 7-0 thumping to the Golden Knights, these are two teams that while their records may be very good, are playing at two different levels right now.

The Avalanche, while they might be 7-3-0, have been struggling to get anything past goalies lately. That's not to say they haven't been getting opportunities, they have. It's just the finishing, which is non-existent at the moment.

The Golden Knights just seem to have the Midas touch at the moment, while the Avalanche have the Devils kiss.

A lot to break down with this game including looking at the Avs November schedule. Will playing on a more consistent basis be a key to playing more consistent hockey

Sometimes the right opponent comes along to get you back into your groove. Was it all pretty? No, but most of it was, and it was more than enough for the Colorado Avalanche to get past the St. Louis Blues relatively easy, 4-1.

A first period goal by Ross Colton ended the team scoring drought, then another was added by Mikko Rantanen on the power play to end that drought as well. St. Louis did pull to within 2-1, but you had the feeling the Avs were in command of this one. A couple more goals in the 3rd and that was all she wrote.

The line shake up we saw in practice is exactly what we saw in the game. Hello Riley Tufte and Kurtis MacDermid, goodbye (for now) Tomas Tatar and Jonathan Drouin. But should we expect that for the Avs next matchup this weekend against the mighty Vegas Golden Knights?

The Colorado Avalanche must be eager to hit the ice Wednesday night against the St. Louis Blues to get back on track with a win and to get some goals scored. After being shut out the last two games, some home Ball Arena cooking, and a Blues team itself that struggles to score, this could be the right opponent at the right time.

Cale Makar, following the crash into the boards against the Buffalo Sabres, was not a participant in Tuesday's practice. Neither was Bowen Byram. Coach Jared Bednar stated he thinks at least one of them will play vs St. Louis, but failed to mention which one specifically. We wait and see.
