Ohio State Buckeyes face uncertainty as Arthur Smith takes over as offensive coordinator—will his NFL-heavy, run-based schemes clash with Ryan Day’s vision and Ohio State’s elite talent? Jay Stephens and Jeff Hunt debate whether Smith can truly elevate the Buckeye offense or if this high-profile hire risks stunting development, especially for star quarterback Julian Sayin.

Key topics include concerns about using top recruits like Chris Henry Jr. and Jeremiah Smith, the fit between Smith’s system and Ohio State’s personnel, and how a lack of coaching continuity might hinder player growth. The discussion questions Ryan Day’s long-term strategy, the offensive line’s readiness for a physical scheme, and how these changes may impact the Buckeyes' chances in marquee matchups—especially a pivotal clash against Texas. Will Smith’s approach unlock the Buckeyes’ potential, or trigger a costly backfire?

College Football’s playoff shakeup sparks fierce debate: will a 12-team format fuel a new Ohio State dynasty? Jay Stephens breaks down what the upcoming College Football Playoff structure means for the Buckeyes, exploring how head coach Ryan Day and Ohio State’s elite roster are positioned to thrive. As the Big Ten and SEC battle over potential expansions to 16 or even 24 teams, the current 12-team playoff could play perfectly into Ohio State’s hands, reducing player wear-and-tear and increasing championship odds.

Key topics include Ryan Day’s surprising support for a 20-team playoff, the pitfalls of overexpansion, and why NCAA-led rules might offer the transparency college football desperately needs. Jay Stephens also examines playoff opt-outs, the impact of bowl game attitudes, and whether the sport’s growing postseason hurts traditional rivalries and regular season drama. Will larger fields truly captivate fans, or has college football already lost some of its magic?
