Aaron Nola was practically unhittable  striking out 9 Dodgers in a 5-1 win for Philly to wrap up the 3 game sweep. Dodgers again missed opportunities, what should have been a game tying rbi for Gavin Lux turned  into a bases loaded strike out by Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers leaving the them stranded. They did manage one run on an opposite field home run from Gavin Lux that stayed fair by a few inches but that would it for the Boys in Blue who have now lost 8 of their last 12.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Phillies again, but this one looked more like a baseball game and less like Philadelphia batting practice. LA lost 4-3, and a few key defensive miscues probably cost them the game. Jeff is here to talk about that, plus the news that right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller was demoted to Triple-A before the game and why that's probably the best thing for him right now. And finally, we dig into the news that Teoscar Hernandez will be taking part in the Home Run Derby at next week's All-Star Game festivities and why Jeff would love to see a Derby with big strong guys who are never going to make an All-Star team, like Luke Raley.

Dodgers fell behind early again after Gavin Stone gave up 1 each in the first 2 innings, He would lose the game going 4 2/3 surrendering 4 runs on 9 hits. Bobby Miller struggled from the start locating the curve and the Phills were feasting on the fastball. Former Dodgers Tre Turner hit a grand slam part of a 6 run 4th that made it 9-0 Cavan Biggio accounted for the only Dodger run with his 3rd homer and 1st as a Dodger. Not a good showing or the Dodgers in a battle of the top 2 teams in the National league.

The Dodgers didn't have a game so the guys did a mailbag episode. They got a lot of questions about the trade deadline and what the team should target. The biggest questions came for third base and what the Dodgers should do there. Should they give guys like Andre Lipcius or Kody Hoese a chance? Also, Tyler Glasnow has had a couple rough starts. Is there any concern about fatigue as he nears a career-high in innings pitched?

The Dodgers took two of three from the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. Will Smith led the charge with a three-home run game on Friday and four total home runs in the series. Justin Wrobleski made his MLB debut on Sunday. Is this someone to keep an eye on? Six Dodgers were named All-Stars once the teams were announced. Dodgers left 10 on base and only got 1 hit with RISP. Chris Taylors 3rd homer accounted for the only Dodger runs in the 9-2 loss. Justin Wrobleski made his major league debut going 5 giving up 4 runs, coming off 2 homers, on 5 hits. Miggy Rojas the only Dodger to have a multi hit day with 2. Dodgers now 55-36 after the loss. 

Will Smith started the game with his 15th homer of the season and 4th in the last 2 days giving the Dodgers 2-0 lead they would push one more across in the 1st on an Andy Pages infield single. The Brewers would tie the game at 3 in the 8th on a Christian Yelich homer. But the Dodgers would answer right back in the bottom of the 8th with a pinch hit home run from Miguel Vargas followed by a 420ft no doubter from Shohei Ohtani who also tripled in the 5-3 win.

Will Smith hit 3 home runs 2 of which were on the first pitch the 3rd of the night ties the game at 5. The dodgers would rally in the bottom of the 8th  loading the bases for Freddie freeman who poked a 2-2 breaking ball into center field scoring 2 to give the Dodgers the lead 7-5. Teoscar Hernandez would add a little insurance with a double to left scoring Will Smith  who had walked to make it 8-5. The bullpen was stellar after Tyler Glasnow went 6 giving up 5 runs on just 3 hits striking out 7 , the bullpen tossed 3 clean innings on just 36 pitches.
