Locked On Dodgers – Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers come from behind to beat the Rays 7-3 Kike Hernandez tied the game at 3 with a 3 run homer in the 5th and then Shohei Ohtani walks it off in the bottom of the 9th with a grand slam his 40th of the season. He had reached the first half of the milestone with his 40th stolen when he swiped a bag in the 4th. Bobby Miller Struck out 9 over 6 innings including fanning the side in the 2nd and the 6th.

The Dodgers made a big roster move on their day off by designating Jason Heyward for assignment. Chris Taylor was added to the active roster. Was the Heyward move a surprise, and was there some other way to maybe keep him on the roster? Also, what does this move mean for Kevin Kiermaier and Andy Pages? There's a lot to break down from this move. Lastly, if you are confused by DFA, option, waivers and more then Jeff has you covered!

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed their sweep of the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night, knocking around one of the best pitchers in baseball in Logan Gilbert. LA touched up Gilbert for eight runs (six earned) in 4.2 innings, and they did it all without hitting any home runs! Max Muncy, Teoscar Hernandez, Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and Kevin Kiermaier highlighted a full-team offensive barrage, and Jack Flaherty pitched 5.2 very good innings to earn the win. Blake Treinen returned from the injured list, and we got injury updates on Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Miguel Rojas.

Dodgers wrap up the sweep of the Mariners 8-4 and have now won 10 of their last 13. Max Muncy with 2 doubles including one with the bases loaded in a 5 run 5th that came with 2 outs. Mookie Betts, Will Smith and Freddie Freeman all also doubled in the win. Kevin Kiermeyer tripled and Teoscar Hernandez had a pair of hits. Jack Flaherty got the win his 10th going 5 2/3 striking out 5.

The Dodgers won another game and this time it was Jason Heyward playing hero. He hit a three-run home run in the 8th inning to give the Dodgers the lead. It was a perfect time for it to happen as he is one of many players currently on the bubble for the roster and/or the playoff roster. The umpires didn't help things but the Dodgers end up overcoming everything to win. Walker Buehler was just ok and didn't show much improvement from his other outings. Is his time as a starter or with the Dodgers up?

Gavin Lux and Max Muncy went deep in the same inning in back to back nights drawing the Dodgers to within 1 then in the 7th Mookie Betts knocked in the tying run with 2 outs and in the 8th pinch hitter Jason Heyward put the Dodgers ahead to stay with a 3 run blast. Walker Buehler went 4 giving up 3 runs on 7 hits.

Even before Monday's game started, it was a hugely eventful day for the Los Angeles Dodgers. LA swapped out three roster spots, removing Nick Ahmed (designated for assignment), Andy Pages (optioned to Triple-A), and Austin Barnes (on the injured list with a broken toe) with Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, and Hunter Feduccia. Then they had an emotional on-field ceremony to welcome back fan favorite Justin Turner in his first return to Dodger Stadium since leaving in free agency. Then the game started, and Gavin Stone outdueled Bryan Woo and got help with homers from Muncy and Gavin Lux. Edman and Shohei Ohtani added hits, and Joe Kelly and Evan Phillips shut it down for the 3-0 win.

Gavin Stone sets a career high in strike outs with 10 going 7 innings. Max Muncy returned hitting a home run to right in the 7th part of a 3 run inning that started with Gavin Lux hitting his 3rd HR in his last 7 game and 9th of the year. 3-0 the final

It was a weekend of good and bad for the Dodgers. The good is that they won the series against the Cardinals and Clayton Kershaw looked good on the mound. The bad is that Tyler Glasnow is now on the IL with elbow tendinitis, and Freddie Freeman hurt his finger. We're hoping for the best in both cases. Michael Kopech has seemingly taken over the closer role, Bobby Miller just doesn't have it, and what moves are the Dodgers making with the returns of Max Muncy, Tommy Edman and Blake Treinen.

Clayton Kershaw had really good command inducing ground balls as he allowed no runs on 4 hits for his 2nd win of the season. Shohei Ohtani got the scoring started with his 39th homer and Miggy Rojas extended his hitting streak to 10 games with 3 hits and what would be the game winning RBI. Gavin Lux also posted a 3 hit afternoon as the Dodgers win it 2-1 to take the series.
