Leon Draisaitl just became the NHL's highest paid player after the Edmonton Oilers forked over $112 million on an eight year extension! Draisaitl, who is entering the last year of his current contract at $8.5 million, will become the highest paid player once the new deal kicks in next season. He may not have this title for long as his teammates next contract will be up in 2026...

In other news, Seth Jarvis also signed a big deal to stay with the Carolina Hurricanes over the next eight years for $63.2 million. The young stud has earned every penny and continues to rise up the draft board in this years fantasy hockey season.

Lastly, Torey Krug will miss the entire 2024-25 season after undergoing surgery on his ankle. Justin Faulk should be the next man in line to take over the first powerplay unit, which means he could be a sneaky good add at the end of the draft!

Our first Monday Mock Draft is under way and we couldn't be more excited to get the ball rolling!

Flip and Steele select from the first and tenth positions in the first version of their mock draft this season, in preparation for upcoming fantasy hockey drafts.

Aside from the first four positions, which should be filled by Edmonton Oilers Star forward Connor McDavid (who Flip selected first) followed by Nathan MacKinnon, Auston Matthews, and Nikita Kucherov, after those picks it becomes a free-for-all. Steele selecting J.T Miller at tenth overall was bound happen!

WE MADE IT! We finish off the top five fantasy hockey targets from each team with the Utah Hockey Club and fortunately for us we have two experts in Cory and Brad from the Clean Hits Hockey Podcast to break it all down with us. Unanimous decision on Clayton Keller and Mikhail Sergachev coming in as the top two targets for this upcoming season, but it quickly takes a turn when Steele has Lawson Crouse at the number three spot! With young talent in Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther on the rise, there could be a breakout season coming for some of these young prospects about to get big opportunity in a new city. The Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers bring all the value into the 2024-25 fantasy hockey season. Hot off their first championship in franchise history, the Panthers offer a variety of value throughout their lineup. Matthew Tkachuk is irreplaceable when it comes to fantasy hockey leagues as he will be a first round pick yet again.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been at the top of his game over the last year and has put himself into top five fantasy goaltender consideration. The playmaker in Sasha Barkov continues to impress as he sets up his linemates Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe who also make the top five targets list.

Notable players in Gustav Forsling and Sam Bennett don't make the top five but are right there for breakout fantasy seasons.

The chance for another Stanley Cup is quickly closing for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they've struggled to make the playoffs the past two seasons and their star players aren't getting any younger.

While Sidney Crosby continues to age like fine wine and dominate in fantasy hockey leagues, you can't say the same for his teammates Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin who have fallen down the draft board over the years. There is still lots of value to be had with this Penguins teams but you will have to be patient when drafting for your league.

The Buffalo Sabres were a disappointing bunch last season with the dip in production from all their star players. With a younger and faster team on the horizon, we expect a big fantasy season from the likes of Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, Alex Tuch, and Dylan Cozens.

Ukko- Pekka Luukkonen cracks the #3 spot on Steele's list heading into the season while he doesn't even make Flips top five. The Sabres prospect pool is as good as they come, and even though they don't make the top five, JJ Peterka, Zach Benson, Bowen Byram, Owen Power, Jack Quinn are all on our radar!

Special guest and friend Blake Creamer of Apples & Ginos joins us to discuss and breakdown the top five fantasy targets from the Vancouver Canucks on todays episode.

The overall consensus from all three fantasy hockey experts was Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller, and Elias Pettersson were the first three musts off the draft board. With major concern looming over Thatcher Demkos return to action next season, you can look towards Brock Boeser and Jake DeBrusk as your fourth and fifth option from the Canucks roster.

As the 2024-2025 fantasy hockey season heats up, the Vegas Golden Knights offer a mix of dynamic players to boost your roster. As great as the Knights have been over the last six seasons, injuries have been and continue to be a major problem throughout the locker room.

Jack Eichel's elite skill makes him one of the most valuable players in fantasy league formats, but his inability to stay healthy throughout the season makes us question how valuable he is. On the other hand players like Noah Hanifin and Ivan Barbashev have consistently shown their durability and effectiveness throughout the fantasy season which could make them hot commodities.

Where do Tomas Hertl, Adin Hill, Mark Stone, and Shea Theodore land on this top five targets list? You'll have to listen to find out!
