Don't be fooled by all of the football on your televisions. NBA basketball is upon us! The Hornets are kicking things into two-a-day gear at training camp preparing to make the playoff run fans expected them to make last season. We'll have analysis of some of the more interesting things said at media day as well, like:
Jeremy Lin gets candid about why he chose Charlotte over the Dallas Mavericks
Nic Batum on why he struggled at Eurobasket
Big Al on what he did besides ditch chicken to get ready for this season

Al Jefferson has supposedly slimmed down after giving up Popeye's fried chicken. That's no way to earn an endorsement deal. We'll discuss that and the talk that Big Al's role in the offense will be scaled down.
We released our final Summer Video Breakdown and it has sparked some good discussion in the comments section on Lin's defense.
PLUS Nick Denning drops by with the "Buzz Around the Web" and should we be worried about Nic Batum's poor finish at Eurobasket?

If you went to Time Warner Cable Arena to watch the Hornets play in Charlotte last season, you've probably seen her face. Jacinda Garabito hosts Hive TV, the Hornets in-arena entertainment alongside her co-host Fly-Ty.
She's a familiar voice and face to long-time Charlotteans as both a radio personality on what was then known as 96.1 The Beat and as a local news host on WCCB Channel 18. But she's also trying to help the Hornets build a brand of pre-game entertainment in Hive TV. We discuss how it got started and the big plans the team has for it in the future. Also, what's the one scoreboard segment that will ABSOLUTELY get the axe come 2015-16.
Learn more about her interesting journey that's taken her all around the world and all over the Charlotte media landscape.

It's time for more Hornets talk for the hardcore fan. The weather is finally cooling down, football is heating up but we're only two weeks away from Hornets camp and their first preseason game October 3rd. We're doing our preliminary scouting of teams that stand between the Hornets and a playoff spot in 2015-16. We're beginning with the team that drafted right before Charlotte in this year's draft, the Detroit Pistons. Will Stanley Johnson propel them to the playoffs or are they still a work in progress. Roger Castillo from Sports Radio Detroit joins us with the low down in Motor City.
PLUS our very own Austin Peters joins us to discuss the idea of adding one more piece to this Hornets roster, whether it be through a trade with the Suns or possibly a fringe player already on the roster.

MKG has been the face of the Hornets franchise this offseason but can be be their center piece on the court without a reliable three point shot? Guest Adi Joseph joins us in to discuss that, the Hornets offseason strategy and the pros and cons of a dual point guard lineup.
PLUS Stephanie Ready's press tour took her to one of our favorite basketball podcasts The Lowe Post, we discuss what she had to say. And Sports Illustrated released their top-100 NBA players list. Which Hornets made the cut? Who got snubbed?

The Hive Talk Live Charlotte All-Time Team is almost complete. It's time go in the paint and pick out Charlotte's greatest talent at the center position. Alonzo Mourning may associate himself more with the Miami Heat, but his time in Charlotte was dominant. Emeka Okafor was supposed to be the top-3 talent that could get the Charlotte Bobcats franchise in gear. Al Jefferson got Charlotte back to the playoffs and will try to do it again this season. And then there was Biz...sweet, sweet Bismack Biyombo.
This more than any other position showcases the different philosophies Doug and David used to compile their teams. Who do you side with, head or heart?

It's MKG's world baby, we're just livin' in it.
Hive Talk Live is back after an August full of Video Breakdowns and All-Time teaming. Neither of those are over yet, but after MKG signed we just couldn't wait any longer. Join us live at 6pm as we roundup the offseason with NBA twitter star Bobby Marks who spent two decades in an NBA front office, and who's analysis is concise, clear and widely respected. We'll hear his thoughts on a controversial Hornets summer.
ALSO, we get to some news that we missed, maybe you have too...it's our Hornets Full Court Press...
And is Hornets owner, Michael Jordan getting treated unfairly by the NBA?

You wouldn't know it from recent history, but the power forward position has traditionally been a position of strength and star power for the Charlotte Hornets. Larry Johnson started the trend when he burst on to the scene in 1991, claiming awards, accolades, national sponsorships and greatest of all a cameo in Space Jam.
Larry was our legend, but the man that succeeded him may have played just as well. Anthony Mason was a force inside, fleet of foot and cerebral between the baskets. David and Doug discuss their legacies PLUS we reveal the story behind Johnson's iconic Grandmama character.

When the Hornets signed Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to a four-year deal earlier this week, it was a recognition of his talent and what he does for the Hornets when he's on the floor, and what happens to them when he's off of it (spoiler: bad things and losses). The Hornets franchise has had a foundational player at the small forward position ever since the dominant front court of Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning left town. Easy to get away with patchwork small forwards when you had those two guys anchoring the middle.
Glen Rice, Jamal Mashburn, Gerald Wallace, and now Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who will make our all-time team at arguably the most dynamic and dominant position in today's game.
