We also examine the month of December and it may surprise Islanders fans that the team hasn't been playing poorly. We break it all down but of course, there's a catch.

And we have a four-time Stanley Cup champion as our Islanders Birthday of the Day.

This season has been a struggle for the New York Islanders between Covid, injuries and a long 13-game road trip to open the season. If the team does not start putting together a string of wins to get back into the playoff race, could Lou Lamoriello pull off a big trade at or even before the deadline? This team doesn't need to rebuild, but they may need to retool and we have an interesting idea as to how they can do it.

Plus we have our weekly Farm Report as we look at all things Bridgeport Islanders and we preview tonight's home game against the Boston Bruins.

The New York Islanders fell to the Detroit Red Wings 2-1. Before the game, the Isles learned that Mathew Barzal was now in Covid protocols and will miss at least three games.

The team needs to play smarter hockey than they did last night. Oliver Wahlstrom is leading this team in shots on goal despite playing fewer minutes than most other forwards on the team. It's time to give Wahlly more ice time for a team so starved for goals.

We have our key takeaways from tonight's game and the latest lineup moves.
