Locked On Islanders - Daily Podcast On The New York Islanders

The New York Islanders split their weekend slate, blanking the Arizona Coyotes 4-0 on Friday before falling to the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 in a lackluster effort on Saturday. We have our key takeaways from both games including the strong play of Noah Dobson and Scott Mayfield and the improved play of late of Zach Parise.

On Friday night, the Islanders also lost a legend as Hall of Famer Clark Gillies passed away at the age of 67. We look back at Gillies' legacy on and off the ice including his time on the Trio Grande Line with Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier and his impact on the Long Island community.

All this plus our Islanders Birthday of the Day and much more on today's Locked On Islanders Podcast with Gil Martin.

We also preview this weekend's games against the Arizona Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs as John Tavares makes his first appearance at the UBS Arena.

We also have a full preview of tonight's home game against the Philadelphia Flyers and we discuss the suspension of Ross Johnston and the chance for fans to get Mathew Barzal back to the NHL All Star Game.

Mathew Barzal got the game winner in the final five minutes as the New York Islanders got past the New Jersey Devils 3-2. It wasn't a pretty win, but it was badly needed.

We have our key takeaways including the importance of the strong play by Josh Bailey and Zach Parise who both contributed in a big way to a win despite the obvious rust.

We also have a full preview of Saturday's home game against the Washington Capitals and congratulations to Adam Pelech on being named to his first All Star Game.
