On today's podcast we take a look back at the Jets rookie class and how they performed in 2019.

I must start out with a huge caveat. Expectations should always be low for rookies, and criticisms should always be tempered. Few actually produce in year one in the NFL. If you looked at a list of players, you would likely be surprised to see how rare it is for a first year player to be a major positive contributor.

With that in mind, we look back at the six players the Jets drafted and one key undrafted free agent. We look back on their seasons and address the successes, failures, and surprises. We also discuss expectations for year two. How much should the Jets be counting on these players to grow in 2020?

When the Jets make a signing we do our best to project how well it will work out. Otherwise there would be no point of having a podcast like this. Of course our projections aren't always correct. We can only judge how well things work out after these guys actually start playing games.

On today's show we look back at the 2019 signings the Jets made and rate how year one went. My criteria is very imprecise. The players are ranked based on performance, contract, and how much sense the signing made at the time (as a sort of tiebreaker for the bad moves).

It was a rough season for the Jets, and many of the signings look like failures through year one. Still a couple of them stand out as effective moves.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

The NFL Playoffs got off to an exciting start this weekend as all four games went down to the wire. The Patriots were eliminated Saturday night, a development that made all Jets fans happy. If only I could have done better than my dismal 1-3 prediction record from Friday's podcast.

Today we start setting up our 2020 offseason on the podcast. Since the season ended for the Jets, I have heard a number of proclamations about the year to come. Some I agree with. Others I don't. Today my focus is on those I don't agree with.

I will tell you why I don't believe 2020 is a make or break year for Sam Darnold, the schedule is a lock to be tougher, we know what will happen with the rest of the division, Quinnen Williams, and more.

The Jets closed up shop yesterday. Players came in to clean out their lockers as the 2019 season has ended. Many of the players and Adam Gase spoke to the media. We will discuss what they said on today's podcast.

Most of the attention from Adam Gase's media availability focused on cryptic comments he made regarding Le'Veon Bell's future. While Gase probably could have handled the question better, the reaction was also likely overblown. More noteworthy was Gase stating he is making no changes to the coaching staff. While he could change his mind, this is an interesting development. The coaches on special teams and defense acquitted themselves very well this season. The offense was a different story, although I don't think this news is necessarily awful. It depends on whether the coaches learn and make the necessary changes.

Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa also spoke to the press. We will discuss what they said on today's show as well.
