The New York Mets signed Jose Martinez on Thursday, signing the right-handed power bat to a split contract. This brings Martinez to the Mets at an affordable cost, adding some depth to their roster.

With Martinez in place, J.D. Davis could become more expendable in trade talks as the Mets may look to cut some salary to stay clear of the luxury tax threshold.

The Mets introduced their new starting pitcher on Tuesday, as Carlos Carrasco spoke with the media. From his first impression it appears like the Mets get an amazing person, as well as a quality pitcher.

Also top relief pitcher Liam Hendriks cashed in on a massive contract with the Chicago White Sox in free agency. How does this deal impact the rest of the market as it pertains to the Mets?

Should they focus more on the starting pitcher market and signing someone like Corey Kluber, as opposed to targeting expensive relievers like Brad Hand?
