Locked On Nets - Daily Podcast On The Brooklyn Nets

Ben Simmons has played six games and has some pretty wild stats so far. It makes for a somewhat tough evaluation of his play and what he is bringing to (or subtracting from) the team.

While there are some stats that point to a very high-level contributor, there are others that paint a totally different picture.

It makes for an interesting debate about Ben Simmons play so far, what he means for this squad and how to evaluate his contributions.

The Nets lost another close game on Monday, this one to the Bucks which went down to the wire again. Cam Thomas was the big story for the Brooklyn, scoring 45 points on 17-33 from the field. He hit so many big buckets with high degrees of difficulty.

But Giannis Antetokounmpo was simply too much on the other end, tallying 36 points of his own for Milwaukee.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, some of the closer sequences that sealed the Nets fate and much more.

Damian Liilard and Gianinis Antetokounmpo are the latest superstar tandem to form in the NBA and the Nets will be tasked with slowing them down Monday night. Size will be a problem for Brooklyn, even in the return of Ben Simmons to action. Milwaukee can utilize Giannis, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis to create problems on the glass, an area the small-ball Nets have managed to hang tough in eerly this season. The Bucks also hitting their perimeter looks at a high percentage and getting to the line most in the NBA, making Brooklyn's ability to play clean defense and continue their own high volume outside shooting critical to hanging with one the favorites to win the NBA title.

Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas will need to continue their consistent play but, along with role players like Royce O'Neale and Lonnie Walker, must find their outside shooting to keep this game close.

The Nets were without Ben Simmons in addition to Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton in the second leg of a back-to-back against the Celtics on Saturday.

The starters behind Mikal Bridges and Cam Thomas got big minutes, even keeping the game close into the 4th quarters but the quasi-juggernaut Celtics were simply too much late.

Brooklyn struggled shooting from beyond the arc, putting up 52 threes in total, and it could have maybe swung a different way had just a few more gone down.

Through the first four games of the season there are some interesting stats that tell the story of the Nets run so far. Some are unexpected considering the current state of the team and are very good signs for the rest of the season.

The Locked on Nets guys look at what has gone really well for Brooklyn so far and why some of it is definitely sustainable.

Then they look at the injury report going into the game against the Chicago Bulls and the prospects for the in-season tournament.

The Brooklyn Nets went into Miami to face the Heat on Wednesday dealing with some injuries and as underdogs. They came out with the win. In a massive comeback through the second half, guys like Armoni Brooks, Lonnie Walker, and Trendon Watford led a bench barrage that got the Nets back into the game before the starters closed it out.

It was one of the team’s better wins in the last couple of years and showed that this team can be more than the sum of its parts. Even with a rough shooting game for Cam Thomas and a lower scoring night from Mikal Bridges, Brooklyn scrapped and clawed their way back to take down Miami.

The Nets will be without starters Spencer Dinwiddie, Nic Claxton and Cameron Johnson against the Miami Heat Wednesday night to go along with defensive specialist Dennis Smith Jr. In spite of the depleted roster, both Doug and Adam see this as a winnable game.

It may simply be the outstanding play from Ben Simmons and Cam Thomas, or the fact that when called upon every Nets role player has stepped up to provide a much needed boost in critical moments.

With an eye on the interior matchups and a focus on limiting Tyler Herro's production - the guys like the Nets chances to even up their record at 2-2

It’s just the fourth game of the season, but the Nets are dealing with injuries in a major way. Spencer Dinwiddie left Monday’s game and is now doubtful for Wednesday’s game against Miami.

Plus Dennis Smith Jr. is also doubtful as well with a hip issue. Add to that the Nets were already going in without Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton.

It’s been a rough injury run to start the year for a team who is now without a number of players who were expected to play major minutes this season.

The Nets notched their first win of the season with a 133-121 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Am Thomas, once again, led the way, this time putting up 33 points in 38 minutes on 10-17 shooting from the field and 12-14 from the line.

Ben Simmons also turned in another complete performance with a near-triple-double, putting up 11 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.

Dorian Finney-Smith and Lonnie Walker turned in solid games as well and this was a team effort win. The Nets were without Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton, plus they lost Spencer Dinwiddie to an ankle injury at halftime.

In all, a solid game for Brooklyn’s first W.
