On Wednesday night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, two second-round series continued with Game 2 matchups, and another series kicked off with Game 1:

Eastern Conference:

• The Toronto Maple Leafs edged out the Florida Panthers 4-3. Mitch Marner broke a third-period tie for the Maple Leafs, who now hold a 2-0 series lead. Joseph Woll made his first start of the playoffs for Toronto, making 25 saves.

Western Conference:

• The Dallas Stars defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in Game 1 of their second-round series. Mikko Rantanen scored a natural hat trick in the second period for the Stars.

Key Storylines:

• Maple Leafs Take Control: Toronto secured another win at home to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Panthers.
• Stars' Rantanen Explodes: Rantanen's natural hat trick powered Dallas to a Game 1 victory in a tight matchup against Winnipeg.
• Tight Second Round Battles: Both games were close contests, hinting at competitive and hard-fought series ahead.
• Woll Steps Up: With Anthony Stolarz injured, Joseph Woll delivered a solid performance in net for the Maple Leafs.

On Tuesday night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, two second-round series got underway with Game 1 matchups:

In the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes edged out the Washington Capitals 2-1 in overtime. Jaccob Slavin scored the decisive goal for the Hurricanes in the extra frame. Frederik Andersen made his return to the Carolina net after injury.

In the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers rallied to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Oilers responded with four unanswered goals. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each recorded a goal and an assist for Edmonton.
