Locked On Nuggets - Daily Podcast On The Denver Nuggets

Matt Moore and Adam Mares break down the Nuggets' loss to the Grizzlies in the second game of the duplex set in Memphis. Nikola Jokic was phenomenal but it wasn't enough. Aaron Gordon's defense was sensational but it wasn't enough. Will Barton's determination was incredible but it wasn't enough. Bones Hyland is in the rotation finally, but it wasn't enough.

Why wasn't it enough?

The bench. Again.

Plus, what does MPJ need to break out, is Facu the only one to blame for the bench woes (no), and why the homestand will be crucial.

Matt Moore and Adam Mares break down the Nuggets' impressive back to back wins vs. the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. Will Barton was sublime vs. Dallas, Malone trusted Jokic, the defense continues to hold, and woof, the Mavericks. In the second game, Joker dominated, Gordon did his thing, and Bones busted out. The two do lightning round on where each player in the rotation is at and debate if Bones could save the bench unit.

The Nuggets played awful vs. the Cavs and caught their first loss of the season because of it. How much of it was a bad game and how much of it was problems under the surface? Adam calls it an "annoying game" and boy, he's not wrong in the minds of the Nuggets. Jokic has good numbers but struggles. Why are the turnovers such an issue? Does Denver need a pure point guard? Can Will Barton be that for them? Plus, the MPJ tension and a preview of the Jazz game with David Locke of Locked on Jazz.

Nikola Jokic beasted on the Spurs to get the Nuggets off to a 2-0 start. Adam Mares thinks we're seeing a different version of Joker this year, one more serious. (Why so?) Plus, Michael Malone's curious comments, how to get MPJ involved either with a Jokic offense or on his own, the keys to the Cavaliers game, why the Jazz game shouldn't be a back to back, and how Joker almost killed Derrick White.

Nuggets win the season opener vs. the Suns in extremely impressive fashion. Jokic had a great game, did have an amazing game? Let's debate. Jokic gets help from Barton, MPJ, and Gordon in different ways. Rotation dilemmas and bench dysfunction. Suns missed shots, but were also tired, so now they know how it feels. Denver thrives in the 4th, and Matt's doubling down on the next game.
