In just over two weeks, the Carolina Panthers will draft what they hope to be their next franchise quarterback. But does that role involve more than just the on-field aspect? For a time, Cam Newton was the embodiment of Charlotte, NC, and the face of the city. Is there a prospect that could fulfill that same role that Newton played? Julian Council answers that among other listener questions in this week's edition of the Weekly Friday Mailbag.

Alabama QB Bryce Young is among the top four quarterbacks that the Carolina Panthers are considering taking with the number one over pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. During his career at Alabama, Young won the Heisman Trophy, an SEC Championship, and appeared in a national championship game. Achieving all of this while standing 5'10". Young's height has been a topic of discussion throughout the draft process, leading many to question whether he could hold up in the NFL. Julian Council asks if Young were taller would there even be a debate over whether he's the best QB in the class?

The Panthers hold six picks in the upcoming draft. Julian takes a look at which positions could be prioritized at each draft slot for Carolina.

The Carolina Panthers added veteran LB Kamu Grugier-Hill on Tuesday afternoon. Improving the teams overall depth heading into the draft. Inside linebacker has been viewed as a position the Panthers should look to add during the upcoming draft. Now that Grugier-Hill is in Carolina, do the Panthers have an added focus on selecting an edge rusher or cornerback?

The contract terms are out for Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro. Pineiro, like many of the Panthers free agent signings, agreed to a team-friendly deal. Julian Council details the Panthers free agency spending and how they've set themselves up for success during the 2024 free agency period.

The general consensus around the NFL is that the Carolina Panthers will select Ohio State QB CJ Stroud with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Stroud's size and accuracy, but more notably his size, have led many to believe that the Panthers will prefer him over the smaller, and possibly more talented Bryce Young. Believing that to be the case, Good Morning Football Host Peter Schrager implored the Panthers to go with the "right pick" not the "safe pick". Does Stroud represent the right pick or the safe pick? Is it too early to know? Julian Council examines the debate between the two QB prospects.

More details on the Panthers trade with the Chicago Bears for the top pick came out on Monday. Revealing that the Panthers had to choose between DJ Moore, Brian Burns, and Derrick Brown on which player to send to Chicago. Of course, the Panthers have traded Moore to Chicago, providing Justin Fields with a true top-receiver option. Meanwhile, the Panthers have filled the void of Moore with an aging Adam Thielen and deep-threat DJ Chark. Did the Panthers make the right decision to send Moore instead of Brown or Burns?

The Carolina Panthers and the rest of the NFL are 24 days away from the start of the NFL Draft in Kansas City. The Panthers will have just under four weeks to decide who to take at quarterback with the number one pick but that isn't the only focus for the team heading into the draft. What other position groups need to be prioritized heading into the draft? Julian Council provides his list of the biggest positional needs for the Panthers.

Who is the current favorite to be picked number one in the NFL Draft? According to FanDuel, Ohio State's CJ Stroud is the frontrunner to be the Panthers next signal-caller. In talking to sources around the league, ESPN's Dan Graziano found out that most believe this is where the Panthers are leaning. Has the Panthers QB search wrapped up or is there still time for the other top prospects to sway the Panthers decision-makers?
