Hunter is finally joined by Adam Gretz of Pro Hockey Talk and Pensburgh as the two get into everything regarding the Penguins right now. They first touch on that last game against the Islanders and what's the main problem with the Penguins right now (outside of the team being sick). They get into Brian Dumoulin and why he should be a prime candidate to be rested down the stretch since his level of play is not where the team or the fans likely envisioned it would be right now. They also get into the officiating and how that reared its ugly head once again in that Islanders game. Is this going to be the standard for the rest of the way? After that, it's time for Evgeni Malkin discourse! The two give their thoughts on the suspension and why it was justified, plus how the DOPS...actually got it right??? Could this be a blessing in disguise for Geno? They get to that, plus touch on who the best playoff matchup is for the Penguins if one even exists based on the possible matchups. All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

Wednesday features a special episode of Locked On Penguins as Gil Martin of Locked On Islanders joins the show! They do a special crossover and start the show by going over the Tuesday matchup between these two teams and how chaotic it was. They go into how it was almost a tale of two halves for each team since the Islanders came out buzzing and then it was the Penguins who really took over in the second half of the game. They touch on what the Penguins need to do better in order to win on Thursday to clinch their playoff berth, (mostly defensively) while also looking at how the Islanders can spoil another chance at having the Penguins not clinch. They then get into the Penguins' push for another deep playoff run and what needs to improve for that to happen, plus a look at the Islanders' offseason and what they need to do to get back into the playoff race for next season. All that, plus much more on this special crossover edition of the Locked On Penguins podcast.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders played ANOTHER chaotic game on Tuesday night as this was a back-and-forth affair. Hunter starts off the show by laying into the team (while laughing) about the shootout as it was the same old story for the Penguins. He again explains why the Penguins are maybe trying to get the league to abolish the shootout with these attempts were terrible. He also bashes the overtime power play and looks at what the Penguins need to do better in that kind of situation moving forward (if they get another PP in an OT game this year). After that, he compliments Casey DeSmith's play and why it was the right call to start him, plus how he really wasn't to blame for most of those goals tonight. He then goes into Kris Letang's performance and why the Penguins need more out of him. Yes, the bad games are few and far between, but when he's bad, it's REAL bad. Hunter then praises Jake Guentzel and Danton Heinen as they played tremendously, plus goes into why Crosby and Rakell need to stay on a line together. ALl that, plus much more on this episode of the Locked On Penguins podcast.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have done it! The losing streak is over as they took down the Nashville Predators on Sunday afternoon as Sidney Crosby had another vintage performance. Hunter first starts with that as he congratulates Crosby on reaching another milestone for his career. He also touches on how he was a man possessed in that game and how it looked like he wasn't going to let the team lose. He then pivots to why Rakell needs to be on his line moving forward due to the chemistry and why Bryan Rust needs to play with Evgeni Malkin. He then gets to Evgeni Malkin's antics and why it's the right call for him to be suspended. It's not the first time he's done this either, so it's time for him to learn, to say the least. He then has a rant for some of the hot take artists out there who are saying stuff for the sake of saying stuff. After that, Hunter shouts out Casey DeSmith for his rock-solid play in net and wonders if he should get the start on Tuesday to give Tristan Jarry some more rest. He also speaks about Jason Zucker and how important he will be down the stretch before previewing Tuesday's game against the Islanders and why that will be a tough assignment. All that, plus much more on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a MASSIVE weekend ahead as they have home games against the Washington Capitals and the Nashville Predators. They're almost to the playoffs but if they can win these two games, they'll be basically locked in at this point. Hunter starts out the show by touching on small injury updates and who the Penguins could be welcoming back this weekend. Could it finally happen at Game 73? Hunter isn't jinxing anything, but there's a shot that it could! He then breaks down what the Penguins need to do better for these two games before previewing the Capitals game in the second segment. He goes over who's been doing their things and where the Capitals can be vulnerable since they've been struggling at times lately. He also touches on how the Penguins will have the goaltending advantage, plus the depth advantage as this will likely be the last meeting until next season. Finally, he previews the game against the Predators and why the Penguins will need to just do what they did last night and hope that Juuse Saros doesn't goalie them again. All that, plus a whole lot more is in this episode of Locked On Penguins!

Well, it wasn't pretty again for the Pittsburgh Penguins. They lose their third in a row both overall and to the New York Rangers as nothing is going right now. The game looked to be over before it even began as Sidney Crosby was out with an illness and John Marino was also out. With that said, Hunter welcomed back Rachel Nones to the show as the two recap this one and how the Rangers were again able to shut down the Penguins. Would this be a problem in the playoffs? The two go over that topic before getting into how well the Rangers have played defensively against this team and how they've made it even easier on Igor Shesterkin. Hunter then brings up how while the team wasn't BAD tonight, they again didn't get nearly as much traffic as they should've. He goes into why that will continue to be a problem unless the Penguins fix that, before diving into what went wrong on the Rangers' first two goals. The two break them down and look at how the Penguins could've prevented those chances to keep it tied before crediting the Rangers for taking advantage of those mishaps. They also go into if the physical play will carry over into a potential series, plus how Tristan Jarry had a fine rebounding game but it still wasn't enough. Hunter then ends toe show with what the Penguins need to do to right the ship going into the playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers are set to play for the final time this regular season on Thursday night and it is a BIG ONE! The Penguins are 4 points behind the Rangers as they're gunning for home ice in the first round of the playoffs. The two hosts waste no time getting into it as they preview the game and what you should hopefully expect (though this game is always unpredictable). They get into the Penguins' struggles as of late and what needs to be cleaned up during these final 11 games heading into the playoffs, plus Hunter flips that back for the Rangers before they go into their deadline acquisitions. Both Jon and Hunter discuss how much Rakell has meant to the Penguins since he was acquired from the Ducks before we switch gears to how the new Rangers have fared in the lineup so far. After that, they touch on an under-the-radar player that could make an impact during the game before offering up their predictions for what will happen (No, Hunter isn't jinxing this one).

The Pittsburgh Penguins weren't able to take down the Colorado Avalanche again as they fell, 6-4. Hunter goes over why it was a fine performance for the Penguins, but that some of their biggest issues came up yet again against a great team. Was this Tristan Jarry's worst performance of the year? Hunter analyzes some of the goals that he gave up (namely the third and fourth ones) and looks at how this could've been a different game had he made those saves. He also breaks down some of the defensive lapses that we saw from the Penguins, notably on the second goal from Marcus Pettersson. He looks at how this kind of defensive effort isn't going to keep him playing when the games matter most while then pivoting to the lack of finishing. After that, Hunter does look at the positives from this performance and what the Penguins still need to correct going into Thursday's showdown against the New York Rangers. All that, plus an honest view on where the team is contenders-wise, on this episode of Locked On Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins dropped a tough one on Saturday to the Colorado Avalanche over the weekend but there was still A LOT to like from a Penguins perspective. Hunter goes into what impressed him about how the team played, plus how the Penguins can fix their mistakes on Tuesday when these two teams meet again. He then goes into some of the missed chances that the Penguins had and how those affected the game in a big way. After that, he touches on how Tristan Jarry could've played the second goal a bit better, even though it's being a little bit picky. He then sends a message to a part of the Penguins fanbase as they were freaking out over this loss like they just lost to the Arizona Coyotes. He covers a lot of topics in that message, including how this "championship or bust" mentality is too much at times considering what the Penguins have already accomplished in the salary cap era. Finally, he ends the show with some practice and injury notes and details how the Penguins can clinch a playoff spot as early as this coming weekend.

What a win by the Pittsburgh Penguins! They played perhaps in one of hockey's best games of the year against the Minnesota Wild that could be a Stanley Cup Final preview if both teams are able to go on runs! Hunter touches on how this game had a playoff feel to it and commends the Penguins for staying in it, despite the game looking bad at times. He especially praises the team for weathering the storm in the third period after Kaprizov tied it and how they dominated play for the latter half of that period. He also gets into Rickard Rakell continuing to make an impact in more than one way. What's jumping out that he didn't do a lot of in Anaheim? Is he a very mini-version of Patric Hornqvist, but with a better shot? He also gives his thoughts on Jason Zucker and how he was looking before he got knocked out by a dirty hit. WHat's his prognosis looking like? Is there a positive update? Hunter provides what info he can as there hasn't been much said from HCMS before breaking down Geno's OT winner. After he breaks that goal down, he looks at Casey DeSmith's performance and how it was another step in the right direction before dumping on the officials (it was bad for both sides). Finally, Hunter previews Saturday's massive game against Colorado.
