Locked On Sabres - Daily Podcast On The Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres can't stop winning! The win streak reaches nine games, one off a franchise record, after a 4-2 win over the Blues that the Sabres dominated from the second period on. The line of Zach Benson, Ryan McLeod, and Jack Quinn were especially dominant and put away the game winning goal early in the third period. Rasmus Dahlin's return to the lineup helps, Noah Ostlund continues to contribute along with Josh Norris, and Alex Tuch shows up scoring important goals. Sneaky Joe believes the win streak could significantly increase the probability that Tuch signs with the team on a long-term contract.

Plus, how Alex Lyon's start went, an evaluation of whether Tage Thompson had an off night, and a look at how scoreboard watching went for Sabres fans on Monday night. Who should we be rooting for to win on Tuesday night?

The Buffalo Sabres are looking for their ninth win in a row and to jump into a playoff spot against the St. Louis Blues. The Blues have the worst goal differential in the NHL, by a lot, but they might not be a team to sleep on, especially with Joel Hofer starting in goal. The Blues defense core led by Justin Faulk is a deep unit that is a real threat to the Sabres. Are the Sabres the better team overall? Rasmus Dahlin returns to the lineup is a big boost and Jason Zucker is nearing a return. Who will Zucker go in for and on what line will he play when he does return?

Plus, Jack Quinn is banging down the door offensively, Alex Lyon should be the Sabres goaltender of choice on Monday, and Jordan Greenway's maintenance plan continues. Sneaky Joe lays out why he believes the Sabres will win and get their win streak to nine.

The Buffalo Sabres win streak extends to eight with a dominant win over the Boston Bruins, led by Mattias Samuelsson, who stepped up big time in Rasmus Dahlin's absence. Samuelsson continues to add offense, on top of his ability to shut plays down defensively. Owen Power also stepped up with a strong performance. The Sabres forward lines all played well, especially the line of Zach Benson - Ryan McLeod - Jack Quinn. With the win, the Sabres are now tied for a playoff spot with the Florida Panthers, and spots in the Atlantic Division are within striking distance.

The Buffalo Sabres host the Boston Bruins on Saturday night looking for an eighth win in a row in what is one of the biggest games played at KeyBank Center in years. The Bruins come into the game on a losing skid, making them the perfect team to play right now. What the numbers say about Boston is the Sabres should be able to score a bunch of goals in this one. Sneaky Joe takes a look at both team's lineups and why he believes the Sabres will win this game, despite Boston taking the first two meetings of the season between the two teams. When's the last time the Sabres have had a game this big? Possible since 2023.

The Buffalo Sabres win streak has reached seven games after their win in Ottawa! Bowen Byram leads the way with two goals and an assist, including the overtime winner. Big contributions from Alex Lyon and Noah Ostlund helped lead the Sabres to their win, two players that have been phenomenal as of late. How real is this win streak the Sabres are on? Sneaky Joe breaks down some of the Sabres numbers that do not look so hot, and has a possible explanation that leads him to believe the Sabres are a good team, and this win streak is not a fluke.

Also, Jordan Greenway's big performance, and what Ostlund's future could look like as he continues to thrive as a rookie, playing in a big role.

The Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators made a giant trade last season swapping Dylan Cozens for Josh Norris. So far, the trade has gone as expected. Josh Norris looks like the better hockey player, but he is the one with the significant injury risk. How has it gone for Cozens in his time in Ottawa? Where has Norris helped the Sabres the most when he's played? Sneaky Joe says he would not hit the 'undo button' on the trade if there was one.

Plus, the Sabres and Senators are both riding win streaks into Tuesday night's matchup. Joe believes the Senators, unlike some recent Sabre opponents, are a better team than their record shows, but Linus Ullmark has struggled a lot this season. Will Alex Lyon continue his hot streak? And what the odds say about tonight's matchup.

The Buffalo Sabres win streak has reached six games, winning a game having played the night before, on the road, against a very good New Jersey Devils team that had Jack Hughes back in the lineup. The second period may have been the Sabres best period of the season. How did they do it? Plus, Zach Benson using his IQ to score goals, Josh Norris continues to score, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen gives the Sabres a big start. Is Lyon-UPL going to be the two goalie system? And what the hires of Marc Bergevin and Josh Flynn to the Sabres front office means for Jarmo Kekkalainen and the reputation of the club.

Everyone is wondering if John Tortorella is the next man to stand behind the Buffalo Sabres bench, should the team move on from Lindy Ruff as head coach. Does it make sense for the Sabres to hire an old school type of coach like Tortorella at this age? Sneaky Joe looks back on Torts' time both with Jarmo Kekalainen in Columbus, but also his most recent stop in Philadelphia. What went wrong for Torts with the Flyers includes a message getting stale and a run in with a talented player.

Plus, what went right in the Sabres win over the Flyers, which was the team's fourth win in a row. A game where Tage Thompson had some bad moments early, but scored an important goal, and Josh Norris had a slick game winning goal. Also, a preview of Sabres-Islanders.

The Buffalo Sabres are well rested, not playing since last weekend, are fired up from the GM news of the week, and play a very beatable opponent in the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. No excuses to get a win, and look good doing it in front of Buffalo Sabres fans. Sneaky Joe dives into the matchup with the Flyers, a team that lacks a superstar talent anywhere on the roster, but somehow finds themselves in a playoff spot. Despite the record, are the Flyers actually a better team than the Sabres?

Alex Lyon gets another start, which will be four in a row, as he continues to push for the Sabres starting goalie position. Will Michael Kesselring be ready to return? And why Joe likes the Sabres to win the game, and win by more than one goal.

How does Columbus look back on the Jarmo Kekäläinen era during his 11 years as the team's GM? Sneaky Joe is joined by Jay Forster from Locked On Blue Jackets to take an in-depth look on new Sabres GM Jarmo Kekäläinen's time with the Blue Jackets. From big trades, to great drafting, Jarmo built a winning team in Columbus, the best the franchise has ever seen. However, there were certainly issues in the final years that led to Jarmo being fired by the Blue Jackets that hopefully he has learned from. Is there such thing as being too bold? Too aggressive?
