Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

Three New Orleans Saints stand out as prime trade targets for other teams: Alvin Kamara, Spencer Rattler, and Kevin Austin Jr. Kamara’s role and future in New Orleans remain uncertain despite his clear preference to stay, raising questions about whether another NFL team could swoop in if contract talks stall. Rattler faces competition with Zach Wilson for the QB2 role, and his upside could spark interest from teams needing a talented young passer. Meanwhile, Kevin Austin Jr.’s late-season surge has made him a potential sleeper for teams seeking a developmental receiver.

With Tyler Shough established and the Saints finally clear of salary cap concerns, New Orleans is poised to become a more aggressive player in the trade market if their quarterback situation remains stable. Why Julian Blackmon is key to reaching the next level on defense

Tyler Shough is drawing MVP-level comparisons from NFL veterans like David Edwards, who’s played alongside Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, and Josh Allen. It's raising expectations for the New Orleans Saints’ quarterback future. With Shough embracing a leadership role and showcasing elite football IQ, the Saints’ gamble in the draft appears even smarter as seasoned players praise his mentality and physical traits.

On defense, Kaden Ellis steps into a perfectly tailored weak side linebacker role in Brandon Staley’s 3-4 scheme, unlocking his versatility as a playmaker. Christian Watson’s hefty new deal redefines the floor for Chris Olave’s contract extension. Plus, keep a close eye on cornerback Jayden Price, whose value and adaptability make him a sleeper for the 53-man roster.

Alvin Kamara’s boldest offseason move wasn’t his words, but his presence at voluntary OTAs, signaling his commitment to the New Orleans Saints’ future and turning up the pressure on the organization to define his role alongside Travis Etienne Jr. As contract uncertainty lingers, Kamara’s willingness to share the backfield and embrace new dynamics could finally help to move things forward.

Competition heats up at wide receiver as Ja'Lynn Polk impresses with standout plays and great interview moments, especially with Chris Olave absent and Jordyn Tyson easing back. Key battles for the star/slot corner role, where Jonas Sanker is locking down the position, and backup center, with Torricelli Simpkins III leading a shifting rotation. Plus, Kellen Moore details more open training camp practices for fans including the prospect of open joint sessions with the Jacksonville Jaguars and a return to Tulane Stadium.

In this episode, the discussion centers on Alvin Kamara’s surprise attendance at voluntary New Orleans Saints OTAs and its implications for his contract situation and future with the team. The hosts analyze the strategic significance of Kamara showing up, how it may affect negotiations, and why keeping him makes sense from financial, sentimental, and on-field perspectives. The episode also touches on other OTA standouts and rookie progress, the impact of Drake London’s new contract on Chris Olave, and what it would take for the Saints to make a blockbuster trade similar to the recent Myles Garrett deal.

Drake London's massive contract extension instantly raised the stakes for Chris Olave and the New Orleans Saints, potentially making Olave one of the league's most expensive wide receivers. With just one 1,000-yard season, London's deal sets a new market precedent, sparking questions about Olave's upcoming negotiations as his proven production continues to outpace his peers.

Key OTA storylines unfold as Saints fans look for updates on injury progress for rookies like Jordyn Tyson and critical position battles, particularly at the STAR/slot role and backup center. Eyes are also on Kool-Aid McKinstry’s lockdown potential, Julian Blackman’s return at safety, and rookie Bryce Lance’s rapid development in a wide receiver room full of intrigue.

The New Orleans Saints are taking a significant risk by banking on an unproven edge rusher group built around Chase Young. With Cam Jordan still unsigned and players like Carl Granderson and Anfernee Jennings facing questions about consistency and pass-rush impact, another addition could be helpful going in to 2026. The addition of Tyree Wilson brings intrigue but also more uncertainty, amplifying the need for veteran reinforcements as the Saints aim to stabilize their defensive front.

Offensively, uncertainty around Alvin Kamara’s future highlights the potential need for another experienced running back behind Travis Etienne Jr. Meanwhile, center depth and the readiness of Torricelli Simpkins III also could impact in the Saints’ roster strategy. A blockbuster Myles Garrett trade reshapes the Saints’ schedule strength, potentially making Week 9 less daunting, while Jared Verse’s arrival in Cleveland poses a new threat.

The fate of Alvin Kamara could signal a bold transition for the New Orleans Saints as they embrace their new era. The Saints’ upcoming decisions reveal how aggressively they’ll flip the page and trust in emerging talent.

Chris Olave is primed for a breakout 2026 season, thanks to a revamped offense featuring Tyler Shough, Travis Etienne Jr., and new weapons like Jordyn Tyson. The Saints must avoid pitfalls: heaping unfair expectations on Shough, regressing on defense, and missing on critical run game reinforcements. Plus, new details on the Saints’ training camp schedule and joint practices as the countdown to a pivotal season begins.

The New Orleans Saints spotlight Jonas Sanker as the leading candidate for the pivotal nickel slot role at OTAs. Second-year quarterback Tyler Shough steps up as an immediate leader, commanding the offense, building chemistry with wideouts like Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele, and proving he’s ready to take charge with easy-to-see leadership.

Chris Olave sets the standard for the locker room, attending voluntary OTAs amid contract extension talks and sending a message about commitment and leadership. Meanwhile, roster battles heat up at backup center and wide receiver, with standouts Ja'Lynn Polk and Kevin Austin Jr. make early claims.

Plus, the Saints shake things up by scheduling joint practices with three preseason opponents: Jacksonville, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
