Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

Tyler Shough’s maturity, efficiency, and playmaking ignite hope for a New Orleans Saints revival. Having improved against pressure in his rookie campaign, Shough’s knack for game-winning drives and his ability to elevate teammates, whether Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, or Ronnie Bell, signal a dynamic future for the offense. Saints fans, ready to rebound from a five-year playoff drought, now sense promise with Shough at the helm.

The Saints' NFL Draft landscape faces turbulence as Miami edge rusher Ruben Bain Jr.'s off-field incident emerges. As prospects with unique fits consider visits to New Orleans, including Auburn’s Jeremiah Wright, the Saints weigh high-upside additions to strengthen both offensive and defensive fronts.

The New Orleans Saints’ most impactful offseason move wasn’t just adding an explosive running back, but solidifying the offensive line with the addition of David Edwards. The Saints aim to reignite their ground attack with Travis Etienne Jr. and the potential return of Alvin Kamara, Edwards helps to retool a unit that struggled struggled on the ground and promises to keep Tyler Shough clean.

Keeping the entire coaching staff intact may be the Saints’ other biggest win of the offseason. By blocking attempts to poach key assistants like Keith Williams and retaining Scott Tolzien while bringing in Will Clapp as an offensive assistant, New Orleans puts consistency and quarterback development at the center of their strategy.

The New Orleans Saints are set to host Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson on a visit, allowing them to answer on of his biggest question marks: health. Should the dominant wide receiver check out clean medically with the Saints' staff and put on a show during his planned April 17 private workout for ahead of the NFL Draft, he could easily remain in consideration for the No. 8 overall selection. The move would pair an alpha X-receiver capable of taking over football game with prove wideout Chris Olave.

Keldric Faulk and Olaivavega Ioane could be surprise picks at No. 8 overall, but there are numerous reasons why those selections would be unlikely. The Saints don't have a track record of drafting first-round players they host on pre-draft 30 visits, but that could change this year.

The New Orleans Saints could get a mid-round steal with Western Michigan EDGE Nadame Tucker, who would fit in well in Brandon Staley's defense. His pass rush ability would allow him a pass rush specialist role opposite Chase Young and in rotation with Carl Granderson and potentially Cameron Jordan.

His comfort dropping back into shallow coverage would also maximize his snaps in obvious pass rusher situations late in the games, allowing him to show his ability to be an impact player when the lights shine brightest in the fourth quarter.

The New Orleans Saints' decision to pick up the fifth-year option of defensive tackle Bryan Bresee was an easy one for the club. Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley changed the system for the Saints' front and Bresee met the challenge well enough to impress the organization. His continued development will be imperative for the Saints' run defense in particular.

The Saints' have found some success in the middle rounds of the NFL Draft despite some key fumbles in the process and the team should be willing to be active and aggressive in this year's NFL Draft, which may set up the future of Alvin Kamara and the team's running back situation.

The New Orleans Saints drafting Ohio State WR Carnell Tate to build around Tyler Shough is a winning strategy in this year's NFL Draft. If Rueben Bain Jr., Arvell Reese and David Bailey are already off the board, there's no drop-off in draft success by choosing to then build around Shough and add more offensive weapons.

The Saints could look to trade up in this year's draft to make sure they're achieving both goals of bolstering defense and building around Shough. Washington's Denzel Boston could be a perfect trade-up target after landing a top edge rusher to help the Saints' strategy.

There's very little doubt that Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion would be the perfect fit in the New Orleans Saints' offense. His dynamic ability after the catch and on special teams could be game-changing in New Orelans. He'd be the perfect yards after catch threat to add to the wide receiver room alongside Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele.

While Concepcion's drop rate is high, it's not likley to be a metric that converts steadily to the pros. Meanwhile, should be able to add another gear to his game, a mid-level one, his dynamic ability could increase, making him a potentially game-breaking force for Kellen Moore.

00:24 Why Concepcion Could Be Worthy Of A Trade-Up

07:40 Why You Shouldn't Worry About KC's Drops
