Locked On Saints - Daily Podcast On The New Orleans Saints

There's very little doubt that Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion would be the perfect fit in the New Orleans Saints' offense. His dynamic ability after the catch and on special teams could be game-changing in New Orelans. He'd be the perfect yards after catch threat to add to the wide receiver room alongside Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele.

While Concepcion's drop rate is high, it's not likley to be a metric that converts steadily to the pros. Meanwhile, should be able to add another gear to his game, a mid-level one, his dynamic ability could increase, making him a potentially game-breaking force for Kellen Moore.

00:24 Why Concepcion Could Be Worthy Of A Trade-Up

07:40 Why You Shouldn't Worry About KC's Drops

The New Orleans Saints should absolutely call the New York Giants about a potential Dexter Lawrence trade. With Lawrence having requested a trade from the Big Apple, bringing him to the Big Easy would continue the Saints' recent endeavor of reshaping its defensive line.

While trading back feels unlikely, there is one scenario in which it could make sense in the first round, meanwhile trading up to get a second pick in the opening round makes a lot more sense. Especially if players like Cashius Howell, Akheem Mesidor, Kenyon Sadiq and KC Concepcion fall far enough to be in consideration.

The New Orleans Saints must handle their biggest 2026 draft dilemma, prioritizing impact over positional value, with Ohio State safety Caleb Downs at the top of their board. The decision between taking a dynamic, versatile defender like Downs or opting for top talents such as Mansoor Delane, Carnell Tate, or Jordyn Tyson could reshape the Saints’ identity and secondary for years to come.

With wide receiver Chris Bell’s explosive potential, questions about his readiness for training camp add intrigue to the Saints’ receiver room. The search for edge help brings Tennessee’s Joshua Josephs into focus, while day-three investments target talents like Ole Miss’ De'Zhaun Stribling and Michigan’s Raushaun Benny. Every pick could tilt the franchise’s future.

Ole Miss wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling is emerging as an ideal fit for the New Orleans Saints' evolving offense in the NFL Draft. Combining 4.36 speed, 6'2" size, and a physical X-receiver profile, Stribling offers the versatility to line up outside or shift into the slot, complementing playmakers like Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. His reliable hands, competitive toughness, and knack for yards after catch make him a valuable asset, especially for a Saints team seeking fresh options in their wide receiver room.

Kellen Moore’s system could unlock Stribling’s full potential, not just as a dynamic pass catcher, but as one of the 2026 NFL Draft’s most competitive run blockers. Late Day 2 or early Day 3 could prove the perfect sweet spot for New Orleans to add a hidden gem to Tyler Shough's offensive arsenal.

The New Orleans Saints went hard on offense in free agency, and now should focus on bolstering defense with elite edge rusher in first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Arvell Reese, Rueben Bain Jr. and David Bailey could all be fantastic selections to open the draft.

However, adding weapons for Tyler Shough and Kellen Moore will be hard to ignore this year with wide receivers Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson and Makai Lemon available options to open the NFL Draft as well.

If the New Orleans Saints miss out on Rueben Bain Jr. or David Bailey, Jaishawn Barham could be a great option in the 2026 NFL Draft. If the Saints can't address edge rusher at No. 8 overall, doing so in Day 2 could still work out. Barham is a perfect reason as to why.

His versatility as a edge rusher with tons of off-ball linebacker experience means he has the ability to complement Chase Young and be a reliable chess piece in Brandon Staley's system along with Kaden Elliss. He'll need to dial back his perceived temper, but if he can do so without pulling back on his playing intensity, he could be a mid-round steal.

Miami's Rueben Bain Jr. is an absolute steal for the New Orleans Saints in this 7-round Saints mock draft. Landing him, Texas Tech's Lee Hunter and Miami's Keionte Scott could be a dream come true for Brandon Staley.

Meanwhile, underrated Ole Miss wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling could be the X-receiver with deep threat skills that Kellen Moore would love to add to his offense and Emmett Johnson out of Nebraska could dramatically impact the ongoing Alvin Kamara saga.

NFL Draft prospect and Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey could be the New Orleans Saints' next Pro Bowl super start if selected No.8 overall. His size, speed, athleticism and ability to take over football games would make him a playmaking, game-disrupting presence in Brandon Staley's defense.

In this year's NFL Draft, Bailey falling to the Saints and being paired with star pass rusher Chase Young would be a dream come true for the Saints, Staley and the Who Dat Nation.

The episode delves into the evolving dynamics of the New Orleans Saints’ running back room, emphasizing the organization’s intention to utilize both Alvin Kamara and Travis Etienne together rather than viewing them as replacements for one another. Discussion centers on how this dual-threat approach could rejuvenate the team’s offensive effectiveness, especially after last season’s struggles with depth and production. The conversation explores the historical precedent for successful multi-back systems, the importance of upgraded offensive line play, and the coaching strategies needed to maximize both players’ strengths. Uncertainty remains around Kamara’s long-term plans, but with current roster configuration, the Saints appear positioned to benefit from having multiple versatile, high-level playmakers at running back.

Negotiations for Chris Olave’s contract extension are heating up, with the New Orleans Saints not appearing to be uncomfortable with the $30 million mark—just shy of recently-extended wideouts like Garrett Wilson and DK Metcalf. Perhaps shy of expectations as well, but not insurmountably so. Incentives and guarantees bridge the narrow gap, and why Olave and his camp could play the long game for a future payday. Meanwhile, the Saints evaluate Brian Bresee's fifth-year option after his positional shift and strong defensive impact last season impressed.

Kaden Elliss’ signing was a calculated move, independent of Demario Davis’s departure to the New York Jets, sparking renewed draft and trade speculation for adding linebackers. As Derek Carr’s future generates no phone calls from other NFL teams and Hunter Dekkers could see a return after his UFL stint.  Fan-favorite Charlie Smyth impressed with competition at kicker, while questions remain at gunner and returner as New Orleans eyes a fresh special teams look for 2026.
