Locked On Sharks - Daily Podcast On The San Jose Sharks

William Eklund's first career hat trick powered the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues. In a LIVE edition of Locked on Sharks, discuss how Eklund has arrived this season and how this moment has been one that we are waiting for. Look at how each of the goals he scored was based on something that he has developed over the past two years, including his one-timer, nose at the net, and confidence to shoot more. Then, how special of a moment for Bay Area native Devin Cooley to win his first NHL game  and why these moments matter in a lost season. Next, analyze the numbers behind the game, how Calen Addison's ejection kick-started the Sharks, and why all the special teams favored the Sharks. Finally, answer some live questions, including if Will Smith, Macklin Celebrini, and Quentin Musty will be in the NHL next season,

The San Jose Sharks offense was put to sleep by the LA Kings as they lost 2-1. Start with how ineffective the Sharks' offense was against a Kings team looking to get two points as efficiently as possible and how the Sharks lines performed against the Kings in one of the lowest event hockey games of the season. Then, review Filip Bystedt's AHL debut with the San Jose Barracuda and how we saw flashes of what to expect from Bystedt and his ability to score up close and show off his shot. Also, why is pairing him with Ethan Cardwell the right choice, and what does Bystedt need to try and develop for the rest of the season? Finally, the Sharks signed one of the top NCAA free agents, Collin Graf. What should Sharks fans expect from Graf, his scouting reports, and a review of his last college game?

Macklin Celebrini is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. What is a franchise getting in Celebrini? Will Scouch joins to profile the Boston University center as we discuss why Celebrini's game has few holes in it and if the pain that has been the 2023-24 season is worth it for Celebrini for San Jose Sharks fans? We also examine where Celerini would have fit into the 2023 NHL Draft class, if he is going straight to the NHL, and bringing along Will Smith and Celebrini simultaneously. Finally, Scouch gives us a sneak peek of his latest rankings and which defenseman he has ranked first.

The San Jose Sharks offense showed more punch versus the Seattle Kraken but couldn't find a tying goal late and eventually lost 4-2. Discuss how the Sharks provided more consistent offense in this game than we've seen recently but couldn't find that extra gear in the  third period. Also, look at Klim Kostin's role and usage on the Sharks and how he has taken advantage of his opportunities. He also provides a different type of player than the Sharks. Then, examine the numbers behind the game, how the top line dominated, and how Mackenzie Blackwood has continued his excellent play. Finally, Filip Bystedt was assigned to the San Jose Barracuda, why the AHL is the best spot for him to continue his development and why he should flourish in North America.

Mackenzie Blackwood would not be denied as he stopped all 35 shots in the San Jose Sharks 4-0 win over the St. Louis Blues. Start by discussing how special Blackwood's night was for the Sharks and if he could be in line to start eight of the last nine games for San Jose. Then, analyze the numbers behind the win and how the Sharks cobbled together a good second period and then ride Blackwood for the rest of the game for the win. Also, examine why The Lund line of William Eklund, Fabian Zetterlund, and Mikael Granlund is worth exploring for David Quinn. Finally, check in on a busy weekend of playoff action for the Sharks' prospects, including Will Smith's up-and-down weekend, why Quentin Musty is ready to break through with a monster game, and Luca Cagnoni's scorching start.

A slow start by the San Jose Sharks was too much for them to overcome in their 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Start by examining the Sharks' inability to generate any offense in the first period and how Mackenzie Blackwood kept it from becoming a mess. Then, analyze how the Sharks climbed back into the game and outplayed the Wild for the final two periods, William Eklund driving the second line, and if the Henry Thrun and Calen Addison pairing can be a solution for David Quinn. Finally, the Tanking Rooting guide for the final ten games of the season and what to expect from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, and Sharks in the final stretch.

One of the biggest offseason questions for the San Jose Sharks is if Freshman phenom Will Smith will sign his ELC this summer. Hadi Kalakeche and Sebastian High of Locked on NHL Prospects join to debate the pros and cons of Will Smith going back to Boston College for another season or turning pro this offseason. We start with why it makes sense for Smith to start his professional career based on what he needs to work on in his development. Then, why does staying in school for another year make sense? Will Smith is expected to take over the 1C role while Cutter Gauthier turns pro. Hadi and Sebastian also give their opinion on what Mike Grier and the Sharks will do this summer. Finally, what does JD think the Sharks will do with Smith this offseason, and what is the reasoning behind it?
