SMU Mustangs face a critical challenge as Isaiah Nwokobia’s injury threatens his availability for the Holiday Bowl against Arizona. Can SMU’s defense withstand Noah Fifita’s dynamic quarterback play without their key safety? Grayson Singleton explores Wakobia’s regression this season, his draft stock prospects, and why the bowl game could have been a vital opportunity to impress NFL scouts.

Grayson highlights Rhett Lashlee’s announcement of no expected opt outs, emphasizing SMU’s united mindset and the significance of extra practices for next year’s returning core, including Kevin Jennings and P.J. Williams. The conversation shifts to SMU men’s basketball, assessing their tournament resume, defensive issues, and the search for a reliable second ball handler as the team prepares for Central Arkansas and Cal State Fullerton before a pivotal matchup against North Carolina. SMU Mustangs face a pivotal offseason as major roster gaps challenge their 2026 football ambitions. Is a complete defensive overhaul possible after losing leading edge rushers like Isaiah Smith, Cam Robertson, and now DJ Warner to the transfer portal? Grayson Singleton ranks the Mustangs’ transfer portal priorities, calling for a playmaking X-wide receiver to support Kevin Jennings, as well as urgent reinforcements at defensive tackle, cornerback, offensive tackle, and safety.

A critical look at SMU’s defensive line highlights the need to replace over 26 sacks worth of production, making pass-rushing depth a non-negotiable for staying competitive. On the hardwood, Boopie Miller’s injury scare exposes SMU men’s basketball’s need for a true secondary ball handler and defensive consistency, sparking questions about the team’s upside in ACC play. Can the Mustangs reload through the portal and shore up their weaknesses before the season kicks off?

SMU Mustangs potentially target a transfer portal tight end to fill the critical void after the departures of Matthew Hibner and RJ Maryland. Can SMU’s aggressive pursuit of portal talent—with a 6'6", 260-pound frame and proven production—give Kevin Jennings the offensive firepower needed for a conference title push?

Grayson Singleton explores the Mustangs’ portal priorities, analyzes SMU’s spending strategy compared to Texas Tech and Texas A&M, and discusses the implications of a new nine-game ACC schedule. With recruits like Zach Turner already committed and NIL resources in play, the conversation tackles whether SMU should “pony up” for elite talent and how increased conference games could shape their path to contention. Will SMU’s investments pay off in a volatile conference landscape?

SMU Mustangs face a pivotal offseason with Jordan Hudson and Romello Brinson departing the wide receiver corps. Can SMU land an impact transfer portal X-receiver to fill the void and support quarterback Kevin Jennings in his final season? The wideout room, featuring promising talents like Link Rhodes and Jalen Cooper, remains young and largely untested—raising the stakes for new arrivals as SMU aims to replicate national playoff contenders’ success with portal additions.

Grayson Singleton highlights brewing competition at linebacker, with Brandon Booker, Brandon Miyazono, and Justin Medlock challenging returning names like Alex Kilgore and Zakai Barker for starting spots. Battles at defensive end, cornerback, and running back also loom. Can true freshman Aljour Miles make an immediate impact at receiver, or will other newcomers step up? Don’t miss the strategic outlook and position-by-position analysis shaping SMU’s future in the ACC.
