Locked On SMU - Daily Podcast on SMU Mustangs Football & Basketball

SMU Mustangs look to exploit Florida State’s shaky offensive line as game night approaches. Can Kevin Jennings and a deep, revamped running back rotation, led by Kendrick Raphael and Dramekco Green, set the tone against a talented Seminoles backfield? Questions loom around SMU’s secondary depth, with the health and usage of Ahmaad Moses potentially shifting defensive matchups against dynamic Florida State receivers like Deuce Robinson and Micahi Dansby.

Insights on fall camp storylines, injury updates, and key positional battles underline potential x-factors for both sides. Can SMU’s upgraded roster turn preseason optimism into a statement win to launch their 2026 campaign?

SMU’s upcoming schedule just got more interesting as Virginia dominates and Florida State stumbles out of the gate. Virginia’s remade offensive line powered a 24-8 victory, with quarterback Beau Pribula executing a run-heavy game plan and the Cavaliers’ defense shutting down NC State’s CJ Bailey. Has Virginia become the ACC’s dark horse, and does their physical style pose a new threat to SMU’s October stretch?

Florida State, on the other hand, struggled to separate from New Mexico State despite offensive firepower from Ashton Daniels and Ousman Khromah. Concerns about the Seminoles’ uninspired offensive line, lackluster run blocking, and inconsistent pass protection raise red flags ahead of their Labor Day opener with SMU. With these Week 0 results, can SMU capitalize and make a statement, or will these future matchups offer tougher tests than expected?
