After breaking down the offensive side of the football and its potential week one starting 11, we turn to the defensive side and predict the week one starting 11 for Arizona State Sun Devils football. It all starts up front with a deep and talented defensive line. Captained by Michael Matus, the group has many veteran players like Travez Moore, Anthonie Cooper, Tautala Psesefea Jr., and Nesta Jade Silvera manning the trenches with some fun young up-and-comers like B.J. Green, Omarr Norman-Lott, Joe Moore, Gharin Stansbury, and freshman Robby Harrison. Linebackers Merlin Robertson and Kyle Soelle will be in charge of managing the defense entirely but look for guys like Connor Soelle, Caleb McCullough, and Will Shaffer to get some playing time as the potential future at the position. The secondary is practically brand new with newcomers like Ro Torrence, Khoury Bethley, and Chris Edmonds all transferring to the program. Veterans Timarcus Davis and brothers Keon Markham and Kejuan Markham will lead the group with rising star Jordan Clark feeling like a safe bet for the starting nickel cornerback. How will all of these players shake out with their respective roles in 2022? Host Richie Bradshaw gives his best guess on the potential starting 11 defenders on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Training camp is in full effect for Arizona State Sun Devils football! With that comes some predictions and projections for all sorts of different things including stats and starters. For this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast, host Richie Bradshaw breaks down his predictions for the starting 11 on the offensive side of the football. Quarterback appears to be all but Emory Jones's job to lose, but could Trenton Bourguet and Paul Tyson challenge him for the QB1 spot? We will likely see a nice rotation at the running back position headlined by Xazavian Valladay and Daniyel Ngata, but don't be surprised to see lots of Deonce Elliott, too, and maybe guest appearances from Tevin White and George Hart III. Wide receiver is a muddled spot with a three-legged race for starting reps between Andre Johnson, Cam Johnson, and Bryan Edwards with guys like Elijah Badger and Chad Johnson Jr. also looking to steal some reps. The offensive line has a nice group of veterans including incumbent starters LaDarius Henderson and Ben Scott, but we could also see sophomore Isaia Glass push veteran transfers Emmit Bohle and De Holmes for starting reps. All in all, this exercise was a lot of fun with tons of debate and conversations to be had!

Perhaps no program has suffered more from dragging its feet on establishing a NIL collective more than Arizona State University. The Sun Devils have seen a seemingly countless number of student-athletes transfer out of the university with the intention of making money off their name, image, and likeness (NIL). It hasn't just been hitting Arizona State Sun Devils football or Arizona State Sun Devils basketball, but the softball program, baseball program, and several other sports have suffered because of the university's stubbornness to create a NIL collective. That wall was finally knocked down with the creation of the Sun Angel Collective, which will be Arizona State University's NIL collective. The Sun Angel collective will be massive for small businesses, boosters, nonprofit organizations, and others to donate to the collective, which is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, while also allowing the university's student-athletes to promote these donors and make some money for themselves. This is a huge deal for Arizona State University, and host Richie Bradshaw gives you his thoughts and tells you everything you need to know about the new NIL collective, Sun Agel Collective.

With the commitments of defensive lineman Cullen "CJ" Fite and cornerback Amarion Atwood added to the 2023 recruiting class, the Arizona State Sun Devils football program has upped its recruiting class to five commits. This lowly number should have many concerned for 2023 and perhaps beyond that. Couple this small recruiting class with the uncertainty of the players and even coaches returning next season and it's fair to raise some eyebrows and ask some important questions. Host Richie Bradshaw gives his honest thoughts about 2023's outlook for Arizona State Sun Devils football.

As the preseason watchlists continue to get pumped out for college football's most prestigious award, another Arizona State Sun Devils football star has found himself nominated for one of them, this time in the form of linebacker Merlin Robertson. Robertson has found himself on the preseason watchlist for the Dick Butkus Award, which is handed out to the nation's top linebacker as voted by the Butkus Foundation. The award is one of college football's most honorable awards and is highly coveted every year. Entering his fifth and likely final season at Arizona State University, Robertson's swan song with the Sun Devils will be one he hopes goes out with a bang. While Robertson probably has eyes on higher aspirations, winning the Dick Butkus Award would surely be one of his goals. What exactly does Robertson have to do to win this award, however? Host Richie Bradshaw dives into his thoughts on Robertson's inclusion on the preseason watchlist as well as details how the all-time Sun Devil can win the award on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Preseason watchlists for college football's most prestigious awards are beginning to be revealed and the Arizona State Sun Devils football roster has had its first player added to a watchlist. Incoming transfer running back Xazavian Valladay from the Wyoming Cowboys football program is officially having an eye kept on him for the Doak Walker award handed out to the nation's top running back. Valladay, a two-time 1,000-yard rusher for the Wyoming Cowboys football program, comes to an Arizona State Sun Devils football team facing a rebuild at the position. Gone are Rachaad White (NFL) and Chip Trayanum (transferred to Ohio State) and stepping up will be Valladay, Daniyel Ngata, Deonce Elliott, and freshman Tevin White. Valladay, who has by far the most proven track record amongst the group, will look to secure the top spot for the Sun Devils' backfield, but will this be enough to get him into the Doak Walker award conversation come the end of the season? Host Richie Bradshaw gives his thoughts on Valladay's inclusion on this watchlist and lays out what he needs to do to win the award on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.

Many Arizona State Sun Devils football fans have fond memories of former wide receiver N'Keal Harry. Harry was a two-time 1,000-yard receiver and finished his three-year career with the Arizona State Sun Devils as the university's third all-time leading receiver. Harry was also a two-time First-Team All-PAC-12 player and truly one of the finest athletes that the Arizona State University Sun Devils football team has had the pleasure of hosting. His impressive college resume and on-field skills led him to be selected in the first round, 32nd overall, in the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Harry, unfortunately, has yet to catch on in the pros and has thus far been a major disappointment. The Patriots decided to cut ties with the former Sun Devil and traded him to the Chicago Bears. Will a change of scenery be what Harry needs to get back on track? More importantly, what went wrong with Harry in the pros? We're here to discuss that on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.
